None of them actually saw him. They only found an empty grave, no proof. Besides I could say I witnessed the birth of civilization. That doesn't mean I actually did. You still have no proof. I will agree that Jesus existed but no proof that god does.
>>
>>716221565
Yes, they saw him die, then they saw him buried. And then they met him after he rose from the dead, and he would go to heaven.

How could he do this if he wasnt the son of God?

There were witnesses. This would stand up in court. Think about that before you say there isn't evidence.

None of them actually saw him rise up from the dead. They go off what he said was going to happen. They found an empty grave with the stone removed. The story has been embellished over the years by drawings and different interpretations. SO who were the witnesses? can you name them? It's all hearsay.

We are out in the middle of nowhere, and you are told the truth is out there, you just need to look for it. There are a bewildering number of sign posts around you, each claiming to be the right way. You pick a direction, or more likely, have it picked for you, and start walking. You walk for miles, but there are no gods. Occasionally you meet people along the way who say you chose the right direction, although they never say how for you have to go. Now for many miles, the truth finally dawns on you, there are people in every direction who will tell you exactly the same thing; their path is the right on and you just have to keep walking. It now becomes clear that the task is impossible. You have a limited number of years in your life. You could spend them all moving in one futile direction. You could try in multiple futile directions. And obviously the length of time you spend of each journey is divided by the amount of directions you try. It is impossible to test any idea in any real depth, so requiring any depth of investigation sets an impossible condition. Whats being proposed is a game of pure chance. You could say my atheism is a refusal to play an impossible game

>If you can't explain the big bang, then meh god wins by default
no. The only truthful is answer is "I don't know". Knowledge of the universe takes time and disciplined work, and wanting an answer for everything now is an impossibility. But saying if your science can't prove it, then my god win by default is folly. It must be substantiated like any other idea. Besides, saying a god speaks thing into creation is just a fancy way of saying "I don't know" it doesn't explain the process we are actually interested in. You might as well be saying god swims things into creation.

this is the greatest counter-troll of all time.

If I may: original posts made the best strawmen they possibly could(still do, and they're not very good), and asserted fallacies with some(small) amount of tact.

This pasta is taking the piss out of those posts, by (figuratively) reducing their arguments to abrusdity. All of their arguments into one blatant fallacy that can be resolved with a simple google.

Great troll, man. Great job.

I don't put all of my marbles in the belief in an afterlife. I invest them into my own life, because it is precious, it is all we have. >>
>>716227312
Why would you risk your afterlife for a small period of defiance? The benefit of believing obviously outweighs the hassle if it should happen to be wrong. Whereas not believing doesn't give any great benefits.
>>
>>716227197
Science is built on questioning the universe and what we know. It is about formulating applicable logic to our universe. I don't need to prove anything, we are the skeptics. You have proposed the idea of a god, without any evidence of your own. You have not met your inescapable burden of proof. If I saw there are werewolves below the surface of pluto that send me psychic messages at night, and I become taken aback that you do not believe me, it is not up to you to disprove it. I made the assertion that there are werewolves on pluto it is my job to prove it, as it is your job to prove god. This is how we record knowledge. If we didnt do that, encyclopedias would be full of unsubstantiated ideas. But that isn't how knowledge is recorded, is it?

I will my life with compassion for others, and not because a god wants me to, but because I understand the good it can do, and how it can uplift the world around me. And yes, it does give me great benefit, I don't believe theres a judgemental asshole looking over my shoulder all the time, I don't need to waste my time and money that I don't believe in. And besides, how does it feel that there are billions of others who believe just as much as you in their own gods. Who's to say you're wrong? Because it makes you feel special? Anyone in any religion from the beginning of humanity would say the same of their own gods. You are the one who should be questioning.

Who's to say that believing in a heavenly father regardless of religion just feels good. To believe that you're part of a great cosmic plan, and also part of the ingroup of the creator of the plan must feel great. That doesn't mean that belief can't be misplaced. So many feel that way.

Actually, the burden of proof, if it has an validity, rests on both sides. Proving a negative, in one form or another, is necessary in many instances of scientific methods. Disproving the non-existence of something (although seemingly impossible, in times of rigorous debate) is in fact, a responsibility of science.

There is one golden rule of debate. That when you assert the existence of something, you fulfill the burden of proof. It is not the job of the skeptic to prove the claim false. Imagine if a scientist held a press conference on his hypothesis, and complained how unfair it was that he should have to prove anything.
>But shouldn't the skeptic have some arguments for divine non-existence?
No. And we can imagine that debate. 'A' provides arguments for divine existence, 'B' however does not argue with divine nonexistence, instead what 'B' does do is debunk every one of 'A's arguments. Far from conceding the debate to the one who made the only arguments, 'B' has shown that 'A' has no case. And we do not then have any reason to take 'A's assertion seriously.
