Well, the dumbing down of past game mechanics seemed fine because of the kind of gameplay Overwatch aimed for. If someone like Torbjorn played exactly like Engineer (if not MORE) then it would throw the balance and core gameplay of Overwatch out the window. Over watch is far more compacted then most shooters.

Like, imagine if they made a CoD with Battlefield's gameplay. It would suck shit playing a 20ft x 20ft map with player driven tanks, jets, and destruction. Easiest example I could come up with.

Overwatch at its core is a good game, it's not bad, it's not diariah. But it's no king of FPS, it's no Witcher 3 of RPGs. It's just a casual shooter next in line for a (was) dying Genre that TF2 helped refine.

Right, but take unreal tournament as an example, it manages to keep the gameplay pretty streamlined, no overcomplicated shit. But at the same time there are some hidden mechanics to learn like B hopping, it has mod support, it has 104 maps out of the box, and is half the price
