Yes, you may be treated shitty on a small scale (parents are shit, girl breaks your heart, blah blah blah) but on a large scale, the world is in your favor. I wasn't as clear earlier so let me clear up a misunderstanding. You don't need to become different. You can enjoy your culture as much as possible. There is simply a time and place. Just pretend to be something else when it is appropriate.

As examples, I hate the police. I have lots of reasons, rather philosophical stuff. I also recognize that they're necessary. It doesn't matter though when I interact with them. I am very respectful and polite. Solely because it's useful. They're more likely to let me off with a warning. At work, I swallow my pride every morning and throw on a smile. I'm kind, I work hard, I offer help whenever possible, I never complain. These things are not what I want to do. They're useful. You rise rank quicker. And your bosses will be willing to cut you some slack every now and then. It's just smart.

Again, I completely agree with what you've said. I just think it is important to understand that a bit of acting and presenting yourself as the situation warrants will have a dramatic impact on your quality of life. It's fucking hard being black or Hispanic or middle eastern but you can use other stereotypes to lessen how detrimental one is.
