I don't think the game is inherently bad but after playing for a few years it did get old and the community is pretty bad. Not even in terms of deliberate toxicity, but Riot's emphasis on streamlining and high level play killed most of the fun in it and made players treat normals as seriously as they do ranked. The rotating game mode is a good step, though.

Everything will get boring at some point. I had to take a break from league for 2 years and half at some point, during those two years I played like 3 games, one of them I quit in the middle and let my friend finish because I simply didn't feel like playing it.
Then I randomly got motivation to play it again and it's fun.

Eh, I played DotA back on WC3, and I realized that this game is popular for a reason, it can be fun. Most games ARE fun. The issue I have with it is the community. New players are almost bullied out of playing and the elitism is so real you can almost feel the players waiting for you to make a small mistake to talk down on you, like it's a requirement of the game. I played the WC3 DotA for about a year and then when LoL popped up and DotA 2 became I thing I immediately dropped it. Not out of "muh WC3" bullshit, but because making a standalone toxic reactor is just irresponsible.

I got gud at last hitting with most champions but I can get actually perfect CS with Morg while also harassing and dodging ganks. I played a lot of Morg. Played her in ranked 3s with a couple friends just to mess around and we got to the point that we were beating diamond players.

To be honest I don't have any experience with their shop, but if seasonal heroes are gated behind pay walls then I want nothing to do with it. Maybe pay to win isn't the correct term, pay to progress or pay to rush may be better. I still don't like that. Warframe has this issue. Everything can be obtained by playing, save for steam-shop stuff, but offering quicker access with a credit card is like waving panties in your face.

You can pay to progress but literally no one spends money on things you can get without it, it's really not that much of a grind to unlock anything.

I think VR will be a horizontal step here, games that work nicely with it are mostly atmospheric and immersive, there's much more into a story driven game than that.
