I use a 3D model of limbs, torso. I move them about, change their proportions to match, then set about setting up some initial scene lighting matching attempts. Then I select skin tone from the photograph in various places and use it to adjust the skin tones of the model.

I can do Asians, Caucasians, and Asian, but some southeast Asians with green undertones cause me FITS.

After working about the model skin tones, and adjusting the lighting to match my selected unModded natural skin tone selections, I'm ready to tweak the proportions of the model and musculature.

I started out in Paint, Photoshop, then picked up Gimp for Zero dollars, then learned to craft entire creatures from bones, joints, muscles, fat and skin in Maya2010. I can add hair goosebumps and clothing but who needs clothes?

Maya lets you add in an MP3 audio of an English language voice and it will animate the mouth - lips teeth tongue jaw voicebox(Adams apple) for you. You have to program it for expressions like Sincerity, hushed whisper, alarm, fear, happiness, ecstasy, pain, anger, delight, surprise, Incontinence (kek).
