I went to one of the best state schools and had friends who failed their way through 10th and 11th grades and managed to get in because they pulled it together in community college and got guaranteed admission. Start simple. Pick one or two subjects you want to master. Make an effort to read ahead. If possible, attempt to read a textbook before you start a class. Even if you don't get it you will acclimate your mind to the progression of concepts and when you actually go over it in a class it will click more because your not wasting time with just the first shock of exposure to a concept.

The depression is what's gotta be dealt with. I don't know you and I'm also not an expert but I do have a little experience with this. Think of the things that you like.
