Actually its cause bethesda is better at fantasy than sci fi. They absolutely knocked skyrim out of the park, but failed at fallout. Cause they dont get the same creative license with sci fi. Fallout 4 is objectively better than New Vegas. It has a larger, more varied map, the combat is infinitely better, it has customisation of guns, weapons and armour, graphically it's superior, the storyline is less pretentious and trying too hard to appeal to pseudo-intellectuals, it's more challenging, caps aren't a completely pointless commodity by just spamming wins at the casino, it has the biggest and best DLC of any fallout game made (Far Harbour), the game doesn't end with the main quest, it has settlements, more companions and a more in depth karma system that is multi layered versus NV's "you did good / bad, you are now seen as good / bad".

Objectively it's a much better game. Anyone who disputes it either has objectively bad taste or their opinion is motivated by distain for a rival game i.e. Fallout 4.

To reach the point that you'd have tens of thousands of caps coming through to you in FO4 you would have had to play for a long period of time, and built up a number of settlements to get that amount of caps through daily.

Ignoring the fact you'd have to build up your charisma level to get local leader, then to build high end shops, then to get a high number of settlers in each of the settlements you wanted to have your shops in, so that you'd be able to generate those caps (because it's a reflection of how many settlers you have). You're talking very, very end game kind of levels here to make that amount. I played for about 100-150 hours and built up one of my settlements to having 37 settlers, and I didn't see anywhere near that amount of caps coming through.

To be able to afford a lot of he rare guns you need an effective settlement programme in place, unless you wanna go farming for the odd couple of hundred caps here and there from every location.

In new Vegas you go to the casino, save, bet, win, if lose restart. Repeat until casino bans you, go to casino next door. Rinse. Repeat.

Thats the thing, they arent rare, or unique. And the same "rare unique" guns can be dropped by enemies. At least in 3 and nv the unique guns were unique, like the survivors rifle (bent sight, burst fire) or the alien blaster. In 4 its "toms gun" its 38 special, has a poison effect and has a dildo. Then you can buy "tommys gun" which is 44, has a poison effect, and has a stock which is a dildo

You'll make your decent money from settlements by having the highest tier shops, again requiring levelling up and more caps, and then having a high number of settlers to see any good amounts coming in.

All 3 of the things I've listed are things I'd experienced from playing the game first hand.

I'd cleared all deathclaws out at the quarry within the first couple of hours of playing - there was no further challenge after that in the game. Appreciate it took some time sniping, but it was done with minimal difficulty.

I bought the ultimate edition of new Vegas with the dlcs, so went straight to lonesome road to try it out, given a warning about being under levelled, needed to be level 30 or something like that, ignored, proceeded on through and completed it with almost no difficulty.

The combat in New Vegas is simply VATS attacking. There is no skill or ability, it aims for you. Yes you could not use VATS, but the non VATS combat is so poor, collision detection is fucking awful, and it's clearly ridiculous to even bother when you just have VATS right there available to you at the click of a button. If I have to manufacture the difficulty to make myself enjoy the game, that's ridiculous.
