Something that helped me a bit was to write down the pros and cons of both being high and being a stoner. This way you can see it black and white what effect it is having on your life and you'll know it's not a trick. It's best to do this high, actually. If you do it while in withdrawal you'll probably end up with a lot of stuff in the pro high category.

There is some withdrawal, like sweating, stomach ache, headache, insomnia, tremors, loss of appetite. It's not to bad though, nothing like the hard stuff (alcohol, heroine, etc), just be prepared. The bad feelings will mostly go away with a distraction like a movie or a video game.

If you get cravings, have some candy. Sugar fires up the mesocorticolimbic dopamine pathway (like all drugs do). Works like a charm (if you can actually eat).

If you have someone that can hang with you for the first few days do it. It becomes 10 times easier if you have someone to talk to. Sometimes you just need to say you thoughts out loud to realize how stupid they are.

Be me, 41, been smoking everything from the shittiest brickweed to dankest bud for about 20 years, tons of pills, coke and alcohol from 20-30, drunk motherfucker from 30-35, used to crack cold beers the minute i woke up and nowadays, i still smoke a little weed everyday, drink a few beers during the week and get polluted drunk a few times a year and hit the toot annually on my boys ski trip, never stole a damn thing or hurt anyone, upstanding human being, maintained financial responsibility for all aspects of my life this whole time, white collar stressful ass job, made plenty of money and had plenty of good times and women and the point of all this is I had those 5-6 months stretches along the way , sometimes longer, where i was straight edge as fuck, just to do it because i wanted to prove to myself that addiction is nothing more than a mental weakness. I love weed, and the way it makes me feel, i dont even get "high" anymore, its just good for my nerves, because i am naturally wired up and have never understood how people get all fucked up on drugs and are useless lazy worthless niggers.
I also see no reason to be some soberfag preaching abstinence or whatever, i like getting fucked up, and i am my own man and take care of business. If u smoke bud, dont blame it for your weakness or laziness etc. its not the weed, its your weak ass mind holding you back. Weed is gods gift to humanity. I smoke and game a lot eith my gf. I had a lot of money in my bank account we just bought a second gaming rig and now blow away a lot of weed and hasj.

The effect is visible on my wallet though and i am atleast partly thinking about stopping it.

Nowadays i have a craving in the morning. If the weed iis done i feel the need again to go to a shop and get some more.

I was a pretty bad stoner, i don't mix it anymore and when i smoke it's not for weeks at a time, more like twice a week with the gf, green. no more blood, coughing and i can run again ahaha.
