I managed to get around 10 or 15 mins in, and it seriously shell-shocked me with how horrible it was. First you're like "ok this sucks" then you're like "maybe i should try and be impressed with how bad they managed to make this movie" because it HAS to be done on purpose, then you just end up starting to give up on existence and have to stop the movie before it's too late. Incidentally, Stalker was filmed in locations so polluted that they contributed to the subsequent deaths (by cancer) of multiple members of the cast and crew.

Cabin in the Woods was fantastic, but I see that as more of a comedy than an actual horror movie. I love how they marketed it like a horror movie, then just tore apart the cliche of most horror movies.

If you liked Alien check out "Jodorowsky's Dune" which is a documentary about the failed making of Dune (before the Ridley Scott theatrical version that eventually came out) - there is a tangential connection there, in that Jodorowsky hired the french comic artist Jean Giraud (aka Moebius) to do the production design for his vision of Dune, who had done the costumes for Alien.

Hard to say for body horror films. Even though both of your examples are incredible films body horror has never really done anything for me.

I know it's probably just trendy to say it but Batman vs Superman might be the worst thing I've ever seen.

I've certainly seen worse from a technical standpoint, painfully unfunny comedies, movies that are just irredeemable trash like Curse of the Cannibal Confederates but BvS is one of the only movies that actually made me mad.

Just that fucking "martha" scene alone makes me mad thinking about it. Also Metropolis and Gotham are 5 minutes from each other and have a convenient abandoned island between them? Superman is murder jesus? Batman kills like 100 people with guns?

At least the Joel Schumacher movies are over the top camp and the Tim Burton movies rape the source material too but if you ignore that they're still good movies.

Unbreakable with Bruce Willis. There was not a single fucking redeeming quality about this movie. Terrible pacing, last half hour had zero dialogue and was immensely overdramatic. It's sort of a "supernatural/ghost" thing, but I think it was well done. I think Pontypool is a terribly underrated horror movie. Thoroughly enjoyed it. A lot of people like The Babadook, the metaphor the film thinks it's cleverly tying in felt obnoxious, where stupid people would feel smart for figuring it out. It's okay though. I've attempted to watch Pacific Rim 3 times.
The first time was a few hours before I had to go to work. I got 20 minutes into it, said "this is pretty good, but I'd rather do something else with this time" and turned it off.

The second time, I got roughly 30 minutes into it and fell asleep. I wasn't even tired when I started the movie.

The third time was about a month ago. I was bored out of my mind, and was happy to watch anything at all (or so I thought). An hour into it I was saying to myself "for a movie about giant robots killing giant monsters, this is pretty boring". Another few minutes passed and I checked to see how far into the movie I was and what the runtime is. I was determined to finish it, so I powered through. By the end I was so bored that I started playing some mobile game.
