It's old for sure.

pull the CMOS battery and try again.
>>
>>714499137

Swapping video cards atm. Powers on fine, just no picture.
>>
>>714499249
sounds good OP. If that don't work try hitting the cards with some heat. I've revived 7800GTs with a a heat gun in the past
>>
>>714499616

Video card swap - no dice.
CMOS - no dice.
Pulling RAM does make it angry... but that's the only response I'm getting now.

Shit.

Suspense is killing meeeeee

Also anyone know good win virtual thibgies? I have win8 and nothing befire 2013 works on it :(

Anything like dosbox but for windows?
>>
>>714500101

Sorry bro. Dunno what killed it. Was rebooting to start Win 98 install and it never came back. Still working on it.
>>
>>714500201
I for one am here with you while I clean my kitchen and make some damn hot chocolate.

Im neurotic as fuck and have been in a slump all month, but this thread made me want to clean up so I can get on my laptop and play old ass games. Also I have random towers to check out.
(I dont touch my technology if the house is a mess, I like things perrrrfect)

Driver time!
>>
>>714503677
Kudos. I'm glad that there are a few people left out there reviving these old towers. I may have to do the same.
>>
>>714503444
yeah I wouldn't expect much from it because it is only a 866Mhz P3
but I think with a lightweight web browser and then selectively disabling javascript I might be able to browse comfortably.

I am thinking about trying to hunt down something other than the TNT2 that it currently has in it as well
but I really wish I still had some of my old dual Slot 1 systems around
>>
Downloading Geforce 3 drivers now. Last release: 2005.
>>
>>714503932

I do this quite often actually.
>>
Currently copying all the Win98 cabs to the HD so it's not asking me for the disk every 5 fucking minutes. Remember that shit?
>>
I want to do the same. You can't play old MSDOS games on newer PCs. I was playing Crono Trigger on SNES9X in 1998.
>>
>>714504053

I know the feeling. I think of how much stuff I threw away that I'd love to have now... ugh.

My pride and joy years ago was a dual P3 650 w/ a Geforce 4 TI. I rocked that thing forever.
>>
>>714504426

Agreed. "DOSbox" and shit like that just isn't the same.
>>
>>714504675
Remember bootdisks
Awwwww:))))

Remember having to change your config sys and getting grounded cause you fucked up the Family pc?

I do.
>>
>>714497932
awesome OP!!! great care and love put into this... if you want, when you're done, I'll buy it from you. I'll give you 10 dollars.
>>
>>714504880

Yes.... or deleting command.com. oops.
>>
>>714504962

Lol... this will be sold in the hundreds. Sorry bud.
>>
>>714505076
kek! no it won't. OK. I'll make it 20
>>
>>714505187

I frequently get in the $2-$300 range for customized systems like this. You'd be surprised how many people want to relive their DOS/Win9x glory days - and they will pay for it because you can't just buy this shit off the shelf anymore.
>>
>>714500101
there's not much out there with proper gpu support or at least there wasn't last time i looked and virtualized gpu tends to be unsupported
>>
>>714505381
Worth every penny
>>
>>714505381
no... but you can find the parts on Craigslist or some garage sale for single digit prices. it's not like buying an old neo Geo. with working controllers.
>>
>>714505804

Indeed. I put a lot of work into these. When this particular one is done it will be a dual boot and imaged for recovery purposes.

I've got 2 more on the back burner ready to be restored.
>>
>>714505381
I'll give you 22 for it anon
>>
>>714497932
i had that pretty much that exact build back in the day. Ati Rage vs geforce though
>>
>>714506216

I've got a couple rages laying around here myself :) But none of them have 64 MB of RAM, so I've got them reserved for some "lower end" retro builds.
>>
Update: Video/sound/LAN installed. Updating to Directx 9.0c. Looks like I need a USB patch too.
>>
>>714506216
yeah mine was a 32 mb version as i recall.
The geforce cards were too spendy for a poor high school freshman with miserly parents
>>
I have random parts and towers i can access, do you guys, or op have email or shit I can write to for reference if stuck?

I trust you more than google right now.

Make functional pcs from their components.

I have tbe bulk of a late 2012 pc
A win 95 pc
And my old one I built that the videocard blew and now wont boot for I forget what reasons(built in 2008)
>>
>>714507240

Your late 2012 pc will have virtually no value atm. The Win95 one would to collectors.
>>
>>714507381
To be honest It's more to get back in the saddle. I bought a laptop this year for my pc usage...

I just feel so overwhelmed with all this new stuff. I build my pc in 2007/8 and I was on top of all the tech and now im just lost.
>>
>>714507381
i sold a 486dx2 66 for 250 a few weeks back.
found it at a fleamarket for 15 dollars.

carmageddon made me buy that card.

I had a Pentium III when XP was coming out
