What the fucking fuck. Everybody tries to rip you off under the guise of "Hey man I gotta run a business"

Invent Star Trek replicators. As long as scarcity exists, money, the means of rationing scarce resources, will exist.
>>
>>714401262
We don't really have scarcity. Assembly lines literally pump out so many computers, ipods, slabs of wood, we have to throw away the excess.

Life is easily maintained these days.
>>
>>714400314
I'm pretty sure it's the opposite, without money to motivate people to provide for others no-one would do anything for anyone else except for their own families then we'd back to tribes and whatnot.
>>
>>714401394
Assembly lines are able to make things because they have money to pay for the people and resources to make things. Your argument is extremely flawed.

No. Money isn't motivation unless you are a greedy, flawed individual. You think musicians say "I can't wait to make bank off this tune"
>>
>>714401394
Lets say we did away with money tomorrow, bartering is new system of transaction. Prized resources are now food and water. Farmers are suddenly kings. But farmers need help to harvest their crops. That help gets paid in the harvested goods. Crops produce limited amount of food, resulting in scarcity. Now people are trading their gold for tomatoes. Oh wait, nobody wants the gold because one cannot survive by eating gold.

Barter works when nearly every bit of land is growing food or raising edible animals. But we have cities, crowded cities, with no farms around for miles. Millions die of starvation, disease runs rampant. I'd give 'no-money' USA 6 months before its down to 200k people and mass-graves are on every corner.

Actually yes, musicians do seek to make money from their work. When I stumble upon a catchy riff, my first thought is, "Damn, that hook is MONEY."
>>
>>714402094
Good. The population needs to be reduced. Passive eugenics must be implemented because there are way too many morons.

No shit, gold will be worthless because it IS worthless. It's a shitty soft metal. Cities will realize how much they fucking suck, those giant peices of asphalt housing millions of asshole investors and businessmen, and other salesman-merchant-types who shouldnt exist.
>>
>>714402302
Then you are a fucking asshole. Music should be made to change people's minds. Food should be made for nutrition. Goods and Services should be made to help people, not to take advantage of their time/money/life.
>>
>>714401394
Yes we do. You want that 1-in-a-million 10/10 bitch? Guess what, so does every other man. You want that house on the beach? Guess what, so does everyone else, and there's only so much beach. Just because people aren't starving in developed nations and things are *less* scarce than they were 50 years ago doesn't mean scarcity doesn't exist.

And show me some evidence they throw away new computers and ipods. Yeah, they end up in a landfill in China once they're used up and nobody wants them anymore. But if that's the "lack of scarcity" you're talking about, you're welcome to sift through the trash with the chinks.

Now if you were talking about food waste, I'd be more inclined to agree. But money is hardly a barrier to eating your fill in America. Even a hobo can panhandle a few bucks and get more calories than he can burn from the value menu.

In any case, just because some things are abundant does not mean they are not, strictly speaking, scarce, i.e. of limited quantity. Nor does the lack of scarcity of one thing have anything to do with the scarcity of another. Money exists to ration those things which *are* scarce, and to eliminate it entirely, you'd have to entirely eliminate all scarcity.
>>
>>714401940
Food and shelter that is bought with, you guessed it, money.

>But anon, I can build my own house and grow my own food

Build your own house out of what? Lumber that you cut? From trees that are on someone else's land? That you pay for with what? Your collection of Magic: The Gathering cards?

I agree, music is an esoteric thing that transcends money. But if you dedicate your life to making music, one must find a way to benefit from it, because you can't feed yourself on the blissful revelations of a stoned audiophile. Music is work, work deserves compensation.

>>714400027
Ricky?
>>
>>714402770
you dont have to be compensated instantly. without money, we would have passive compensation. everybody does their job and shit gets done without fictitious floating numbers.
>>
>>714402827
Money allows for people to improve their lives without the immediate means to pay for it. Like I said above, you will never have enough chickens and goats to pay for a heart transplant. And potential doctors will never have enough chickens and goats to be trained in complex medical procedures. Not to mention, the tools and supplies needed to perform medical procedures won't be produced without money. Money allows for the advancement of society, because it is intangible, yet valuable. As soon as you make value tangible (ie: this goat is worth 10 chickens, one chicken is worth a two jugs of ale, etc), then everybody goes back to focusing on survival, rather than innovation.

>So many ipods that they're thrown away

iPods would have never existed without money. Prove me wrong.
>>
>>714403059
Yes, you do have to be compensated instantly. Because without money, there is no credit. A barter system doesn't care about what you MIGHT have one day. Bartering is "what do you have NOW to compensate me for my goods and/or services?"

10/10 bitches are different for everyone. Not everyone wants a bitch or a beach house or a mazeratti. The evidence is that people are still selling old as fuck electronics on ebay and amazon. The food we waste in america isn't nutritious fuel, more like tounge-crack, like pastries, boxed and bagged foods, fast foods, pizzas, beer,, shit like that.

I wouldnt say things are scarce, and I wouldn't say they are abundant either, but they are definitely closer to abundant, especially if we implement passive eugenics and teach people the value of healthy eating/ not throwing shit away.

How many times have you heard "ahh fuck it, I'll throw it away and buy a new one." With razors, phones, sandwiches, electronics, even fucking cars. Instead of repairing, maintaining, a well created product, we pump out garbage which we then throw away. Its fucking retarded and money (profit) is the direct cause. An artificial game is the cause of all the bullshit in the world. Don't get me started on profiteering off wars and government, laws, and politics.

>passive compensation
You know what the problem with this is? Even if you don't do your job, you still benefit from other people getting their shit done.

Compensation needs to be "active" enough to encourage people to achieve, and "passive" enough to ensure that even the poor benefit more from participation in society than rejection of it (i.e. crime). We have enough "passive compensation" already, at least in pretty much any developed western nation.

The only problem with that is it would never work if everyone was in it. It would have to be select individuals and also come with a culling method to remove certain impurities from the society. To keep it functional and nice for all.
>>
>>714404130
Wrong. Generosity is not the nature of man. If generosity was the law, people would be taken advantage of. Where is the line drawn? Who decides how generous is enough generous?

"I'm going to take these tomatoes"
"Leave a few, I need them to feed my family"
"But I need them to feed MY family"
"But I grew them, and I've given away plenty already. These tomatoes are SCARCE"
"Sounds like you don't want to be generous, I may as well kill you."

A third party approaches...

"Hey, he needs his tomatoes to feed his family"
"But I need them too"
"Then you should probably trade him something else that he can feed his family with"
"But I don't have anything, and he's supposed to be generous"
"So are you"
"But I don't have anything. The snow ruined my cabbages"
"Then fuck off"

That's not exactly how it works. Competition means they'll try and give you the cheapest to produce product for maximum value you'll pay for it. It doesn't matter if other company sells same product for 5% cheaper, 95% of people don't go to the second store in order to buy the cheaper one so the competition never escalates.

>>714402827
Money removes intent of good from everything. It is replaced with greed and the unspoken laws of demand.

During and after a time of war people have made the best out of everything, the greed has much less power than in time of peace. People have made the best and longest lasting products during those times.

Point was it's not technically scarce if anyone who actually wants to be on a coast could theoretically do so, even if it meant building a raft house out of plastic junk for everyone on earth.

I mention quantifiable because there's a quote that the size of the coastline depends on the scale in which it's measured, obviously it can be rounded
>>
>>714403719
In other words, the money would spread to the exact people who have it within months.
That's not exactly how it works though is it. Food could only cost a fraction of the million, electricity and taxes and all would take the exact percentage of the income they take now.

The only good way for these things to work would be a massive government regulated system where products are developed, produced and distributed by the government in order to keep their price to a bare minimum.
They could do the same with electricity, clean water and everything else really, with the automation technology of today.

Furthermore, the strain of "millitary expenses" on all the countries is really holding humanity back from being a space-faring people. We could be out there if we didn't fuck it up down here constantly.
>>
>>714405135
>intent of good
Human beings aren't inherently good or inherently generous. Many of our instincts contradict each other, e.g. fight OR flight. Getting rid of money won't change human nature, and it won't make people generous or good.

If you people want things like this to change start voting for libertarian candidates. The biggest issue with a lot of things is covering baseline work of opperator/service member, insurances, occupational licensing fees, overhead, and many more issues. Red tape by the government limits a lot of things. I do personal training here and there for very select people (close friends, exchanging services, people with disabilities), the issue that can arise for this is the demand of the occupation. Where I live there is no licensing, so there is no additional fee, I do not work for a gym, so I do not have to pay X amount to the house (my insurance gives me access to literally thousands of gyms for a flat rate of 25 a month), and the demand is only halfway. Im not counting the taxes I would have to pay if I did it enough to warrant it as a second income. Imagine this situation in the neighboring democratic state of Illinois(specifically Chicago)... investing my personal time with schooling to get certified in something ive spent years actually doing for myself, then having to pay X dollars to the house(gym I work through), ontop of the general increased price based off of supply/demand to maximize efficiency in said profession, and then the local economy playing a factor based on the cost of living... its horseshit. If I were to do the same thing for the same dollar where I am now(as a profession) to a place just a few miles away, I would get ass fucked by red tape/CoL and be forced to charge far more for the same basic service. Ontop of lower local taxes where I am now vs illinois crazy taxes.

True. As soon as atomic or even molecular harvesters and assemblers are viable, money dies. Poverty dies. Human servitude dies. Power hierarchies are reduced to social hen clucking.

Also, human species is reduced to a healthier, more easily survivable size.

So what? People are always going to find ways to steal. More advanced societies (i.e. money-based societies) have more advanced methods of stealing. That doesn't mean stealing wouldn't exist without money.

same guy here

My point was to contrast something I can do where I live currently(that I do well doing for people) vs the cost of it somewhere else and what occurs when there is no licensing to get it done. You can't compete as well, or do certain actions yourself, simply because of red tape from the government. Imagine a customer trying to get this service from me where I live now vs someone who lives in the example of chicago illinois...

Stealing results from scarcity.
Replicators end scarcity.

Then the only thing left to steal will be other ppl.

You and everyone you know doesn't know how to trade and probably have no real skill sets. You are all useless so the government prints money for you simpletons to trade with.
