My issue with "having" a standard of living is that you can't simply "have" one. The money comes from somewhere. For every dollar you're giving someone to "have" a standard of living you're taking one from someone else. As in theft.

Now don't get me wrong, I have no problems with taxing the ultra rich. If you make 25 million in a year, fuck it pay 75% in taxes after that.

The problem I have is I'm the one getting fucked. I do around 2 million a year total, minus costs and employees, benefits, healthcare, marital expenses, I might make 200k. Then the government taxes me gas to move my trucks, income on my properties, healthcare (medicare medicare) etc. I might make 125k this year, working non stop 90+ hour weeks. Any when you say 125k is great money, go shit a brick. If you work 40 hour weeks sure, but I give up a lot to be here, family time, friends, memories of my kids, just so fucking leeches to suck my bank account dry to do nothing.

The key is to balance government power so that no parts have more power than each other. Removing all power whatsoever and then you're closer to the law of the jungle, like in a pure libertarian non-state/anarchism. Also when government power is centralized, then you have all the parts being used by a very small elite, like what we have today. There needs a balance of power. A representative republic doesn't allow true balance of power because representatives (who are controlled by that small elite) are able to make laws without absolutely any public input, such as the amendment rule 41 which passed secretly a few days ago. And whenever they get more power, they always use it to get more.

>>
>>713910633
Objectively means an opinion cuk and we all have different ideas on what makes a successful economy. For example while the left believes that resources should be distributed equally, the right believes that we should work for our own money and those who have more of it should use it to give the means to make money to those who don't have it. Obviously those are generalizations but while both work in theory we find our position to the right and left with how they reach these ideals. Hence it can be objectively wrong as I disagree with how you make something successful.
>>
>>713910907
Hey, from each according to his means, to each according to his needs
>>
>>713911042

Nej, subjectively means an opinion
>>
>>713911116
and what happens when those with "means" can no longer support what those with "needs" think they "need" hmmmmmmmmm?

The problem with socialism, ultimately, is you run out of other peoples money.
>>
>>713909613
actually, left = worker owned means of production = workers take the full value of what they create

Yeah, sounds like you got a good plan there, buddy.

How about working less, owning less, but actually living with the ones you love?
>>
>>713911231

I mean you're not totally wrong, but why not join us? Start a business. Oh you don't want to risk entire financial future of you and your family? Start an easy one, only work a little. Oh, you don't want to spend 80-100 hours a week doing hard work, cleaning up shit? Right... makes sense, the poor do all the work, and I just profit right?

It's funny, because you always immediately tell if anyone has ever owned a real business, any kind. If you have, you never preach the "oh the poor do all the work" bullshit mantra. You see the poor pretending to work, while the rich guy in the back actually does all the work.

Well as left as I came out in my chart my belief is that the higher incomes should be taxed less but close all legal loopholes and heavily fine those avoiding taxes.

My problem isn't that the rich are rich, more power to them, simply that they therefore use that power to find any way out of our system that made them rich.

I think that the "standard" I refer to helps us as a society to not collapse under it's own perpetuating filth allowing people to not have poor ignorant kids and prevent the tax drains of people that exist currenty.

You should be making more of you're money, it's fucked that you are not. But I just believe it's a necessary evil and the price to live in a productive/efficient society.

Also what do you think has gone wrong over and over again in every single failed "revolution".

How is the left pro creation of what the worker creates when in reality it inhibits corporations and the elite to create a lack of jobs and a host of people on welfare. 1950-60's we were left with a very open economy in which the average wage for workers was twice that of what it is today. The reason this isnt the case is a result of things becoming increasingly more expenisve as the left advocates for minimum wage laws making goods more expensive. Great!

By the time you achieve that, you might still be able to walk and enjoy your time!

Lining someone else's pocket isn't the only alternative. Just be content with owning less. It doesn't mean you have to live in a shithole eating plain rice every day, man. Just accept simpler belongings. A smaller house, an older car, second-hand clothes.

If I were actually the kind of economic leech you seem to despise so much, I'd be glad you're paying taxes for the poor and the slobs. That's not my point. I don't want more, I live a simple life with an adequate wage job, I do my part in paying taxes and I'm happy this way.

When one of my kids get's into MIT or Harvard, I will not stand by and tell them I don't have the money to send them, that leaves me in this fucked up situation where I'm giving away a massive amount of money for nothing.

If you work and don't take from the system, great. If you pay taxes, also great, I wish all of us, under that 20 million mark had to pay a lot less.

But what about the severe lack of happiness in lots of communist places and the very very consistent trend where we see those in power become wealthy and the underlings poor. What about Stalin killing a TON of people. What about communism never working. I'm not saying communism in theory wouldn't work I am saying however that it depends on the good of the common man and those in power something that is almost impossible to expect as people suck dick. Also punishing those who don't want to work is an inhibition on freedom. And dictatorships jailing journalists and controlling presses.

Businesses haven't proven that they deserve exemption from excessive inhibition. Businesses are continuously seeking ways around perfectly reasonable regulatory laws. I don't know why I ended up so far left. The religion questions might have had something to do with that.
>>
>>713912329
Socialism is an economic system in which the means of production are worker owned. This means that the workers own the work place. The workers take home the full value and/or the full product of what they create, whichever is applicable to the particular situation.
Assuming you're referring to the USA, no, we were NOT left in the 50s and 60s. Ever hear of the second red scare? That started in the 40s and lasted through the 50s. That was THE FEAR of the left. Liberals are not the left, they're centre-right. They support a welfare-capitalist state.
The left does not inherently support or oppose minimum wage laws, the left supports worker ownership of the means of production. What we presently have is private ownership of the means of production. Private ownership = workers are paid for less than what their labour is worth, and the leftover is pocketed by the owner. What happens after that is dependent on a few different factors. Small business? A lot of small businesses where I live actually reinvest their money into expanding. This isn't ideal (a lot of leftists despise even small business owners but i've found that they're generally very fair towards their employees so I dont have much of an issue save for the fact that they're still bourgeoisie), but it's better than simply pocketing the money, which by the way is how most large corporations end up using their money
there's probably a million different issues I could go into, honestly. If you have any specific questions, ask and if I have an answer, I'll answer. I don't know everything, and I still have a lot of reading to do, though.
>>
>>713913590
I ceebs giving examples of capitalist genocides.
Give evidence of a severe lack of happiness?
Have you seen a USA wealth inequality graph?
What makes you think communism hasn't worked?
What makes you think communists jail any more people than capitalists?
P.S., living off of public resources as a collective of everyone working is a crime, so punishment is not an inhibition of freedom. And if you don't work and you don't get any money, the you will die.
>>
>>713913747
But this will not solve issues. If corporations would do this what is to stop them from moving to a separate country with a more lax set of laws. And hence losing hundreds if not thousand of jobs. And while I do agree there are important regulatory laws I do not oppose all of them, but I do support a relatively free market. The safety of the workforce is first priority then the companies but the safety of the workforce extends only to them not having probable risk of dying upon attending their job.
>>
>>713913685
No. Bernie is strongly pro weed and anti interventionist/military in general. That would put him far down. He also supports massive government welfare and extreme taxes on the wealthy to provide for wealth redistribution. That puts him far left. The sum is he is deep in the green quadrant. I hope you are just a contradictory troll, because I otherwise shudder at what you would consider far left.
>>
>>713913731

just jumping in here, but insuring bank accounts is bullshit? Nigga you need a history lesson. The reason bank accounts are insured is because of the stock market crash of 1929. When the market crashed on Black Tuesday millions of people rushed to the banks to withdraw their money. Banks don't keep that much cash on hand, so people were being denied their own money in their accounts.

No. From each according to his means; to each according to his needs. I'm not claiming surgeons do the same work as burger flippers. I'm saying that that is the same amount of work relative to what they can produce
>>
>>713913857
How do you quantify who doesn't want to work? Now, how exploitable is this? What's the absolute minimum I am allowed to work and be compensated? Will I be punished? If I violated these rules, will I be jailed? Will I be executed? What defines work?

This is the kind of inane shit that you have to deal with when solving these problems. I don't think you've addressed these issues at all.

Saying they will be punished the same way other criminals are punished is refusing to think on the matter, in my opinion.
>>
>>713912329
I would think that the problem lies with automation to a large extent. If you get more work done per hour, it means that the labor pool increases, and an employer can pay you less, especially if you gut unions.
I'm pretty sure that worker productivity has absolutely skyrocketed since the 60's

A neurosurgeon cannot exist without nurses, medical equipment, a hospital, a means of reaching the hospital, etc.

I wouldn't argue that everyone deserves the same pay, but you're a faggot if you think that the higher up positions can exist without those down below.
>>
>>713914003

I would ask this though (pretty left myself here). In a worker owned means of production society the worker then must assume the same risks as a business owner does, therefore if the business is not successful then they are not only out a job, but their stake in the means of production. Whereas in privately owned means of production the worker does not assume the same risks. How is worker owned means of production not inherently riskier than privately owned means for the worker?
>>
>>713914293
Well if you're not working, you won't be paid for your work.
Since the state does all the paying, there is no welfare.
So... RIP if you're not working.

Faulty logic. The neurosurgeon is what creates all those assistant jobs. Without the neurosurgeon there would be no brain surgeries. So therefore all the nurses and assistants would not have nothing to do.
It's the same in the business world. Sure a Walmart can't run without cashiers, but none of those cashier jobs would exist, if Sam Walton had not created the company.
>>
>>713914180
Yeah but I'm referring to the government bailing out banks which it shouldn't do. This opposes the free market. If companies are to fail they are to fail and the insurance of bank accounts means that the government needs to spend tax payer dollars to do that.

But this opposes industry and innovation. I have no motivation to create something if it will just be pocketed by my workers. There is no reason for me to actually work and contribute to society when I can live under much less. I would merely need to create what I need to survive. You can argue that innovation would be a byproduct of me trying to make my life easier but without a direct profit I think this would happen much less. However you clearly are significantly more well versed on this then I am though you have not swayed my beliefs.

Mate, the only reason I can't give a good example of communism working in an entire state better than capitalism is because of 1) The active efforts of USA government to destroy communist countries and 2) the fact that they only large communist countries were engaged in large arms races that were economically damning for both sides. The CSSR, though, was doing quite well for itself in the late 20th century, before its administration collapsed.

By encouraging this type of innovation and business practice you allow people to dream to grow. I do think that people who get there money from daddy and spend it on frivolous shit don't deserve it but retards like that will just contribute to more buisnesses for them to make it big. >>713915280
If you, as an individual, only want to produce what you need to survive, that's perfectly acceptable. However, I'd like to point out that most major innovations under capitalism were created in order to produce higher profits, not for the benefit of those around them. While many of these innovations HAVE made life easier, there are other things that would make life easier but cut into profits of different industries (no funding for nuclear fusion research is one of these, it's (profected to be) cheaper in the long term to put funding into fusion but it's cheaper in the short term and more positively impactful on oil and coal companies to continue to use coal and oil)
Also, swayed or not, you were quite pleasant to have a discussion with.

Cuba being a third world country has one of the top medical systems in the world, a very good and developed educational system that allows all citizens free education including university.
Their foreign aid system is more effective than the united states when it comes to actually physically being there and helping, the USA gives a fuckton more in terms of money
Cucky to say this but all the bad you hear about cuba is american propoganda, the first hand stories you hear from the cubans that fled are the victims of Fidels paranoia, i do not deny his dictatorship and the killing of thousands of innocents but when 600 assasination attemps have been made i dont blame the guy either for being paranoid.

False. The average Cuban wage is $19 per month. All of the nation's wealth is controlled by a few communist party elites. I suppose their health care and education might be all right. But who cares? There are no political or economic freedoms for people outside the few elites.
Cuba was the fastest growing economy in the world in the 1950s, before Castro and Che Guevara killed thousands (possibly millions) in their violent communist revolution. Now it is a stagnant economy where the average person is in poverty and 1950s cars dominate the roads.
You are right about China having income inequality. You are wrong about it being the biggest economy, the US is still the biggest economy by far. Also, China has 1.5ish billion people. A large GDP isn't the result of communism, but merely a huge population, which has benefitted recently from mixed economy stances.

Because they were used as cannon fodder, as useful idiots who the Nazis would've later exterminated had they have won the war.

Google the "Rhineland bastards"

They were sterilizing the Afro-Germans while the war was going on. They at least would've let the blacks live out their lives until they all died, but they were sterilized so they wouldn't continue their race. It's the Jews they wanted to end right there and then on the spot. They could've easily killed the blacks too, but they didn't. But they did plan on exterminating the blacks and other races through sterilization. Also Hitler would've eventually turned on the Japanese and other allies had he conquered all of Europe and Russia. He was seeking world domination through military conquest but failed miserably.

I think that has a lot more to do with the interference by the fed gov into the market. I'm much more (but not full) decentralizing of power. State entities are more in tune with their peoples needs. Being beholden to the fed gov makes it harder for them to serve their constituents needs. Decentralization of this power would make it easier for states to manage the issues of mismanagement.
Also the fact that the market can get fucked because banks essentially gamble with people's money is so fucked up.

It's hardly surprising that most people on this board are the left leaning variety considering it's a board dedicated self hating faggots who like to trap-porn and adults who watch Asian cartoons meant for children, throw in some edgy rekt threadz and 'wut r u somking 2nite /b/' and you have the shittest board out there. When was the last time something funny happened around here?

I wouldn't necessarily say all workers would stop, but quality of work would hit rock bottom. If there's no incentive to make better shit, why do it?
