head of treasury is Goldman Sachs banker and George Soros hedge fund manager

"drain the swamp"
what did he mean by this?
>>
>>713820653
He meant he would get rid of idiots like you who have no understanding of finance or the economy.
>>
>>713820653
Doesn't change anything
The fed's always been in the hands of small private families and the democratic process can't do shit.
>>
Who could be better at draining the swamp than someone who has lived there?

It makes sense to get someone that knows all the dirty little secrets.
>>
>>713820653
>"drain the swamp"
>what did he mean by this?

he meant business as usual for Republicunts.

his picks are all people who gave his capaing money - Ie gave him money, since he made a profit on his campaign.

they are all shills for big oil, big coal, big pharma, private education

they have been actively lobbying and lyaing about climate change, and driving down safety regulations. his transport pick is a murdering bitch who killed twelve miners by reducing saftey checks.

this is big money making more money by ripping off and privitising, and getting big tax breaks. Trumps family will get a $6million tax refund under his policy. you will get $20.

>>713820717
you think you understand finance and the economy - then you must be a millionaire if you support this fuckwit, because only millionaires will gain while the debt skyrockets and he fucks the environment.
>>
>>713822052
Shillary lost. Stop being MentallyHill.
>>
>>713820653
Get rid of the water and get right into the muck & mire.
>>
>>713822052
This, this, and only this, and then this again.
>>
>>713820653
He meant to say something that would sound good to the rubes so he could fleece them of their money and advance himself, just like everything else he said the whole campaign. The guy is a charlatan playing stupid people for suckers, and 46% of America bought it.
>>
>>713822113
Right wing buzz words are edgier than a neckbeards katana.
>>
IT'S OKAY GUYZ! HE'S JUST TROLLING!

http://crfb.org/blogs/what-we-know-about-president-elect-trumps-agenda

These articles are published by a bi-partisan group of economists and former politicians, some of which have been hired by the House to analyze economic policy, and I urge you to read them. We just voted in a Republican that intends to spend literally twenty times more than his Democrat rival would have without anything to compensate for it.
>>
>>713822113
I don't care that Clinton lost - what I care about is that Trump won, and will enable the greatest robbery and fuck over this country has ever seen.

Trumps team of thieves and shills make the Bush era Whitehouse look almost honest and impartial.
>>
>>713824089
nope. Not supporting a fraud, con artist, and thief and liar, who is appointing people just like him to privitise (and rip off public money from ) education, health, the VA, and to lower safety standrds adn gut environmental protections, does not make me a Hillary fan.

sure she would have been better than any Republicunt - but any Democrat, Green party or just decent human being would be better than Hillary...
>>
>>713820653
He meant that he was going to get rid of all the left/progressive/feminist types and put in place people who like they way things were...50 years ago, or longer.
>>
The swamp just got 10 feet higher.

Believe me, its the best swamp
>>
>>713822052
This. Worst thing will be watching morons cheer every shit sandwich we all have to eat and savor for the next 4 years.
>>
It's worth noting that Betsy DeVos has no background in education. Never once has held a position involving education, is pro for profit schooling, and did not send her children to public schools.
>>
>>713824696
Even better - Devos gave $9.5 million to Trump for his campaign. And her husband is a creationist. and she has sponsoered legislation exempting private schools from standards checks.

she is going to privitise schools and let public money be poured into private pockets, and destroy the public education system.
>>
>>713824696
He convinced these poor, dumb ass rednecks that he's "for them" and it was so fucking easy!
>>
>>713824930

Because all he had to do is say a few things that the other republicans were not allowed to by their donors.

Build a wall and ban muslims
>>
Trump is like Jackson, except without the good parts.

No duels. No closing the banks. No forced term limits. No white house keggers where literally anyone can party where the only way to get them out of the house was to provide whiskey outside the building.

Just positions being given to unqualified supporters, poor business sense and a lack of tact.
>>
>>713825088
>Just positions being given to unqualified supporters, poor business sense and a lack of tact.

this. so much this.
>>
>>713820653
>what did he mean by this?

he meant "pour money into my pockets and the pockets of my friends"
>>
>>713821963
so you appoint swampers, and tell them to do stuff that is putting public at risk, and putting money into cronies wallets...

not much of an improvement
>>
LOL you kids really think Trump is going to be president?

Hillary undisputedly won the popular vote. And after all that our military has sacrificed in the name of democracy, you think the electoral college is going to go against the will of the people? Think again, trumpkins

because my preferred candidate lost does not mean I have to just keep quiet for four years.

And meaningless predictions - when your cabinet picks have a twenty year history of action, adn you have given them goals that are the same as the shit they have been doing for twenty yers, it is pretty predictable what they are going to do...

so how about a real argument, not this shit then?

I agree, public school is shit. The best and brightest don't need all that liberal propaganda poured into their heads. They'd be able to make money even if they had no "education" at all. You just have to work hard, seize oppurtunities, and keep an inquisitive mind. That's one of the beauties of capitalism.

Just stopped in to remind people that there have been wealthy people as long as there has been money. Generally the wealthiest have existed during times of prosperity. The government taking money the people who pay js will not make our lives better. It will be wasted on government guaranteed tuition non emergency emergency room visits for the uninsured beurocracy and getting reelected. Capitalism works if its not bogged down by halfway socialism and a government with enough power that its worth buying. By drain the swamp he means back track on some of the ridiculous trade restrictions our lawmakers have put in place for personal profit the self defeating tax code the perpetual debt machine that is the fed and the banks the government insuring megacorporations like GM and the banks in 2008 and a thousand other things that are making us all poorer.

Trickle down economics is a buzzword for normal capitalism and it hasnt even been tested out since the 50s. Socialism cant work in a democratic society and it double cant work in tandem with capitalism because then youve got the government leaching in all the money where trying to earn for ourselves and wasting it on the 999999999999999999 different things the voters want and getting reelected.
>>

doesn't this include you? if government is spending money on things you want, isn't that a good thing?

except it doesn't work, as the growing divide in wealth shows.

The issue is not the true entrepreneurs. The issue is the growing management class who seem to be able to have salaries and bonuses that both grow annually and get paid out irrespective of the wealth and happiness of their workforce or how much shareholder value they destroy. They get golden handshakes when the arrive and often a golden parachute (or gagging clause) when the leave having partially sunk the ship, only to pop up later on the board of another Fortune 500
>>
>>713834536
Well in a vacuum sure, honestly though i dont want government spending money on anything but the military the police, and infrastructure And i want them spending way less on the military. I was just saying i think socialism really only has a chance in a totalitarianism that way the money isnt wasted. If youre going to be democratic do capitalism.

But we dont have capitalism. We have croney capitalism. The government is so huge that if you make enough money youre basically part of it. The reason these people are able to exist is because the government is supporting these huge multinationals that could never hold up on their own. Its like the housing bubble in 2008 only on a much bigger scale. The free market would destroy these people.

Brexit was an anomaly, as it was a referendum. Normally we vote for MP (a bit like your electoral college) but the actual MPs become the equivalents of your Congressmen and the largest party gets to elect a leader (or, more accurately, has one going into the vote) and also is asked to form a government. The party leader becomes Prime Minister.

We don't have the equivalent of your presidential elections as we don't have a presidential system. Unsurprising when you consider that the Founding Fathers were trying to escape our system.

Trickle down economics is not normal capilism. Normal capitalism is the idea that money is free to move. No one side (workers or management) gets help from the government. Trickle down economics favors putting money in the hands of the rich so that they will spend it and therefore more free capital for the workers. It's been proven to be ineffective since the weather tend to save not spend extra money. As they should as this is beneficial microeconomic strategy. It's dosnt work in the Macro though

Actually a better analgy would be "who better to stop me cheating on my wife than myself" the swamp in question here is the governments influence on business. The government has such a gigantic and strong hand in business. I dont see why wanting more government interference in business is a good idea considering where its gotten us.
>>
>>713835291
Conservatives hate this because "muh free market," and liberals hate this because "muh corporations," so why the hell can't we do anything about it? Is corruption really that strong?

I wish I could believe that Trump would do something about it, but his cabinet appointments and his lack of concern about his conflicts of interest aren't really giving me much hope
>>
>>713835594
Government interference in business in not what got is here. Business interference in government has. Cleaning the swamp means getting rid of the corporate shills that reside on Washington, both parties are equally guilty, and replacing them with people who are subject to the will of the people not the will of corporate interests.
>>

Trickle down economics is simply taking less money from the rich. Youre not making them richer youre just giving the government less of the money they earned.

You actually have no understanding of the tax system. The 1% is not paying tax now, Trump is changing that by making tax affordable and creating laws that will make it more fun for the super rich to pay there tax for a change. Companies such as apple pay less then 3% now, thank to all the loops Clinton inc made for them.

And if you only knew how close the dollar is towards collapse.

Don't care about the US or Trump, but his policies will at least give the dollar more time.

Its not corruption hinestly its just a function of a society trying to be two things at once. Its decades of liberal presidents using the sources of money at their disposal to convert bits of our society to socialist and decades of republican ones trying hard to not let that happen. If we where fully socialist we wouldnt have rich people buying the governments power and if we where fully capitalist we wouldnt have power to buy fron the government. We've just reached a point now where we have to make a descision or collapse and its ugly.

No, it doesn't work. It does just make them richer. Board members give themselves bonuses and annual raises when they already live in the 1%. Money that goes to the government just gets wasted on useless programs like welfare for lazy niggers. The less the rich pay in taxes, the better, because then they can spend it on things that actually help the economy. When they buy yachts and big houses, then boat makers and construction workers get paid. That's what trickle down means.

Except that's wrong.

The very rich tend to hoard their wealth. You're right that they buy yachts and big houses, but this only helps those businesses that sell big houses and yachts. Smaller businesses and those that do not sell products for the super rich see no benefit whatsoever, which is most businesses.

Trickle down economics don't work; this has been known for decades now.

They horde currency, not wealth. There's an important distinction there.

First of all, they don't usually keep the majority of their assets in bank accounts. Most of it is in stocks and such. Stocks in aggregate are called the "Gross private domestic investment" or GPDI/GPD. This is an important measurement of determining how much capital is available for new businesses to borrow.

Cheap loans are extremely important in opening new businesses, and so correlate with increase socioeconomic mobility.

Even if a billionaire keeps his money in a bank and doesn't own a substantial portfolio the bank is still going to use that money to invest. Typically they loan it out in what is called fractional reserve banking, where a bank only keeps about 3%-10% of their total assets in physical cash available for withdrawal.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly wealth is not constant. The total wealth of a society can increase or decrease based upon a number of factors. Wealth can be generated through technological advancement, infrastructure, businesses, housing, etc. General market expansion. Wealth can be destroyed by taxation, war, population contractions, emigration (not immigration, look it up), and trade imbalances.

Socialism destroys wealth. Russia had a shit standard of living until the fall of Communism, and still hasn't fully recovered. In the same time the US population went from 100 million to 300 million the Russian population went from 120 million to 140 million. The only reason they increased was technological advancement and proliferation.
