Scariest game moment?
>Half life 2, "We don't go to Ravenholm"
Fallout 3, Accidentally strolling into Old fucking Olney
I remember Fear 1. I was playing it when I was young and it still haunts me to this day.
I still don't have the guts to play it..
Easy, in Unreal.
When the lights off into a sort of tunnel and then you heard this attacking you in the dark. So fucking scary time
Getting chased by this fucking thing... ugh..
played this again just yesterday. wasn't as scary as i remember it, maybe because it wasn't the firt time
return to castle wolfenstein relieved me of constipation more than once back in the day
DS1 Scared me shitless, took me years to finish. Blew through 2 and 3 like it was nobody's business.
Confirmed, scared the shit out of me. Still haven't beat it.... mostly due to it fucks up every time I run it on PC.
Pic related, these fucking niggers scared the bejeezes out of me.
When the birds attack you, shits still scaring me to this day
still remembering this nigger chasing in chernobyl
Fear 1 was great. I had a couple friends who scare easy really high freshman year at uni take turns playing it in the dark. FEAR 2 Demo was spooky as all shit to. The school was a great touch.
Scariest shit to me in any game still is Condemned and those fucking mannequins
first time i encountered an enemy in system shock
i turned off the game and i never playd it again
>resident evil 1
knew it was coming and still scared the fuck out of me every single time as a kid
I think it's just so unique to basically anything that is happening in the game up to that point that it really catches you off guard. My heart was racing the whole time in that Vault.
Was always a little depressing to walk out...and see this all hell had broken loose
i hate to admit it, but
five nights scared the FUCK out of me. one of the only games where i had to actually stop playing i was so nervous
...then i watched some lets plays and realised the "ending" as just them screaming at you...not so scary after that "payoff"
i'll give them credit for building atmosphere though
when these fucking mannequins followed you around in nighmare house 2. fucking nope
I just imagined my character doing that really fast goofy run you do when you turn off the lights in the basement and you run up the stairs.
Like, it's so ridiculous but that image always makes me laugh. Just noping the fuck outta there
The Eye mission from Thief 1. Fucking Hammer zombies, with the chains and the echoing laugh. Mother fuckers.
Friendly reminder that the HD remake will release on steam very soon.
that fucking manequine scene from condemned...god damn
Tomb Raider 2 giant spiders
jesus this scene gave me nightmares for at least 2 days when i was younger
This shit right here.
i was 13 and HL2 was basically the first FPS game that I was fully attached to, the atmosphere, graphics, gameplay etc were just so immersive. Yeah i was fuckin terrified of Ravenholm and some other parts of that game, great times.
When this nigger jumps through the window for the first time in the police station.
yeah the butcher is awesome ha I'm a butcher as well so my friends sometimes say that to me
I know that game was nerve racking as fuck especially since it's like all melee lots of just straight creepiness, I loved how they would build what you are expecting is a jumpscare and then drop it as well with no finish it's like a sneeze that won't go
Play 'Realms of the Haunting' proper horror game from back in the day
climbing up the side of a cliff in halflife, tons of jumps and such and at the top a pipe! oh cool! then a fucking headcrab jumps out in my face and i fall all the fucking way back down. shitpants.jpg
the first time i saw these fuckers in total darkness with my shitty flashlight equipped.
>nighmare house 2.
good but short game. i enjoyed it pretty much.
Ok what the ever living fuck is going on here???? Anyone who had ever played control on 007 knows for a fucking fact you need to blow up all those desks or the baddies r just gonna blow up those tables and fuck you over ... Fuck this screen shot
Legit scared of this when I was like 4
>Go into Eternal Flame place
>Dudes shadow butchering a guy as you walk through a hallway.
>lights go out, you hear shuffling
> You turn the corner, if quick enough you can see him go into a body fridge
>I didnt the 1st time
>Grab a tonic then head back
>He jumps out of the other side of the fridge and fucking scares you
> had my friend play it, he literally jumped and knocked his chair over
> again in medical
> go into dentistry
> smoke surrounds you thena body is on the chair infront of you
> go into corner grab a tonic
> turn around and theres a dude standing right infront of you
> Everything in Fleet Hall
> Especially the basement mannequin room where dress stands turn to dancing splicers standing still
> you walk through all these dress stand to a safe
> open it ans leave
> you dont notice the stands turned to mannequin spider splicers till they jump and attack you
> leave room, turn around one last time more of the dress stands are now spider splicers
> nope the fuck out and go up stairs
> one comes down the stairs at you fuck
> kill, decide to check room again
> its empty now
> go upstairs and get attacked again
Scared the hit out of me. BioShock 1 was scary as fuck, the rest not so much.
God I was like 10 or 11 @Ravenholm. I was under the heaviest pressure of my life, my heart was beating for like 1000/s, breath was all low and the music made me kind of stony. But I kept moving I couldn't say anything because my dad was playing Counter Strike next to me and he shouldn't know that this game maybe fucks his kid mentally right next to him but whatever. I was so glad HL2 had perfect save possibilities so I could stop everytime the adrenaline would rush so hard into me that I started shaking my hands (some disease no doc could find out yet why). Jeez HL changed my life.
Doom 3 (the "original" version from 2004) had many awesome moments.
The first time encountering these as an 8 year old kid.
Scared the fuck out of me.
>be young. not sure on numbers
>playing return to castle wolfenstien
>love the game, and love the guns
>get to the crypt
>this was not what i signed up for
>replay first 5 levels because i love them on harder and harder difficulty
>quit when i get to crypt
>female friend (one year older than me) comes over
>beats crypt on her first try
>she likes the game
>we switch out on levels, and she kills the X-creatures and zombies
I'm so sorry, the moded models for sure are ugly.
But try the game with the orignal models. The low polycount even makes them scarier.
I have to admit Laura from The Evil Within scared the crap out of me when she first appears. Stupid zombie walked through the door I wanted to run through so I had to wildly slap his shit to get him to move while I was being chased.
Icthyosaur from HL1. I already hated the ocean, swimming, and being underwater. seeing that monster was enough to make me sit above the water for about 15 minutes and wait for it to surface and shoot it.
Even after it was dead, I didn't want to get into the water with the body.
I wanted to get the achievement so I went through the whole thing with no guns, only the gravity gun and radiators/sawblades/other heavy stuff. Later found out you only had to do the cemetery part that way and didn't get the achievement anyway because the game bugged out.
Not that scary if you have a radiator between you and the zombies at all times.
Cargo 3, shit game. But it had some moments that made me fucking shit my pantaloons
I thought so too. Love Resi 4 and funnily enough, the weakest parts of Evil Within were where it tried to mimic Resi 4 (chainsaw guy is bullshit on EW). Laura is great and so is the keeper. Also, Clair de Lune is an effective choice for a save area; I keep thinking I can hear the piano when it isn't there.
Did anyone here play alien resurrection back on ps1? That one level when you had to jump down into the large room with the alien queen and no way out. That shit was terrifying at the time.
>dead bodies everywhere
>Aliens running in fear
>radar going mental
>Scary beeping music
>Giant flood of those little buggers.
Excellent. Shame they were weak until the guy with the rocket launcher.
I know this game too. You get chased by this thing and have to go into a lava room with pillar you have to jump across only to have this thing smash through a wall and chase you. Had to get a key and run back to locked door before it gets to you.
I wanna say Stonekeep but...
My god, so much this. Freaked out everytime Nemesis showed up out of nowhere, just terrified my 9 year old self... And btw, dat filename
the regnerators from RE4 were the scariest thing about that game
That & the fucking yao guai, those sons of bitches would sneak up on me so bad. Made me jump a few times.
Holy shit, I remember the first time I saw one, I thought it was an anomaly, because of the clear outline, then it moved. Then it started running fast, towards me, and I tried to shoot it. Having my shitty pistol it did nothing, and it showed the true form and got right in my face. That stalker was terrifying.
>heroic and legendary is something else though..
These little buggers died in one hit and took like all of them down. The infected ones were tougher but doable, but the rocket launcher dude in the next level had perfect aim while hiding in the dark.
Where you play the little girl, never have I been so goddamn scared of a black man. Fucking Siren Bloodcurse why were you so excellent and mindrending? Amnesia didn't have shit on the amount of heartpounding this game caused playing as the little girl and hiding in the closet while you watched through the eyes of the monster as it checked other hiding places or walked past your own...
>run away get nothing
>fight and potentially die, but if win get gun parts or other swagger gear.
This is back when saves mattered and inventory management was a necessity.
Kids these days don't know how games used to be.
true that. Afraid of Monsters is pure terror, little to no ammo, limited light (shitty HL1 lighting), tons of monsters, and lots of scares. Still haven't made it past the first level where you shut the hospital power off...
That guy also freaking blow my mind.
