Shit that'll make us afraid of the ocean.
only relevant thing i have but i know the feel you're asking for op
hmm.... yeah, not getting scared yet...
i'll dump a few.
i got a whole folder for this shit
an actual species, apparently.
so simple and god damn, gets me every time.
im an east coast Canadian (fuckn Newfoundland)
I've been swimming out where no land can be seen, where your only link to survival is the boat beside you.
one strong current...
one big wave and...
it could ell change to the disparity and then the cool crashing solitude that hungrily awaits below at the silty beds miles below.
we used to go Jiggimg for squid and other such things out of sight of the land.
it terrified me but I used to still jump unto the water with my goggles on, I always looked down, not for fear of monsters but to stair into the cool dark abyss below because it was so beautiful and I was so small.
also one of my fears. I know its irrational because its a game, but damn nigger if I have the choice i'm not going anywhere farther then a couple meters away from shore.
underwater river- it's actually a possibility.
this one gets me. so much.
this one scares me fuck that
not as unsettling, but weird in its own way.
to me it is the only abyss that looks back when you stair into it.
my eyes would always be weepy as I gazed.
I had nearly forgotten about this, it's been a long time.
>when you stair into it
whale feeding. fuck whales.
reminds me the cover art of one album
contributing 2 images
theres a small needke fish in SA that enters your urethra when you piss the water; as it mistakes the entrance for some larger fishes gills.
Once it enters it jams it spikes to hook on to you..
heres the link
Ocean story time
>about 16 at the time
>go to neah bay with my sis and mum
>if you don't know neah bay is a bay (not shit) in Washington
>rent little ass john-boat
>piece of shit little thing
>15 engine, don't know what means, but see boats with 2 150's
>catch some bottom-fish
>catch some more with jig
>whale comes up
>awesome fucking site, gray whale, about 50 feet
>start heading back
>engine gives up
>radio in for help
>"uh our other boat is actually being used"
>dock at little island off the actual docks
>sit four a couple hours
>get picked up
not as interesting as it sounds, but it was fun as hell
mafe my eyes watery just typing it.
the mola mola, the jellyfish the whales the dolphins, it's nice in the day, night is another story, I assure you.
there's probably a good risk of getting minced by its propellers.
Just to be straight about it, I've always had a deep passion for the ocean, specially the deep sea, how nature adapts in such an inhospitable environment is to me one of the great wonders of this planet.
And I think this documentary wraps it all up very nicely, if there's 1 doc you need to watch about deep sea it's that one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvJJOHscUOU&src_vid=p5ny6KJuKhs&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_2238884517
thar she blows
the fuckin leviathans
wtf the shore alone is enough to scare me just the site of the vast ocean ahead of of you should be enough to scare the pants off ya. What part of all powerful ocean does not register into your brain? i nearly drowned one time at the beach, that was enough to scare some sense into me
plankton and weird as fuck small jelly fish.
whats funny is you can pick these jelly fish up and throw them, better than waterbaloons any day of the week.
what is wrong with you people
Humboldt squid can quickly kill divers that don't wear chanimail.
After a bite sea water rushes into the wound, which quickly lowers body temperature. They come in swarms and change colors during attacks.
They are also expanding their territories.
That's a cenote, pretty sure it's not a river.
But yeah rivers are full of shitty dead trees too, you just can't see them cos the water's murky as fuck.
Nothing scares me more than being out in the open ocean just chilling. You never know what's beneath you, and you can only see X amount of yards away. A 200 foot whale can come up on you with no warning... That's fucking petrifying.
All these terrible drawings are not at all scary. Post REAL GIFS or underwater things pls.
I will be posting some myself.
I'd love to stare into the abyss like Newfoundland bro, but I don't even think I could get on the boat out there. I am absolutely terrified of the sea, can't even walk in it.
But at the same time, the idea of being inside a boat with the sea all around me in the middle of nowhere is kind of cosy...
I've always been more freaked out about stuff that use to exist, like for example, the Liopleurodon was 25m/82ft long and is recorded to be the largest predator to exist
Bull sharks scare the shit out of me.
did you know you shit heads the 95% of the sea is not yet discovered
Lel, one time walking the floridian sea shore with brother and dad we saw a lot of puffed up dead jellies washed up on the sand, my dad would blow them up to make us laugh but it got us irritated very badly, even him, all had to take a special antijelly poison bath.
You are not safe out of the water either.
fucking splashdown on xbox gave me nightmares from that fuckin squid holy shit i never played it after that
Enter the ocean you enter the food chain.
There is nothing to fear in the ocean.
If Lord Inglip could swim....
Now im scared
>I wanted it 12k deep
Giant fucking squids son! I have no fears about being in the ocean or on boats but i'm fucking amazed by giant squids, and colossal squid too . . . only ever 2 found i think? Estimated to weigh about 500kg (impressive for an invertibrate)
theres the archeage leviathan?
Fuck forget the photo
that second vid is fucking horrifying. i dive (thank god in the med and atlantic not pacific), so i do wonder why wasn't he carrying a diving knife? we use them just in case you get tangled in something, so they are a must in any open water. I have heard of people having to use them to fight off small sharks etc too
Get Fucked Baka
Atlantic is home to some of the biggest squids, they seem to be timid and there's no way you would be going deep enough without a sub to see those guys
you know what i don't understand? how the fuck are you scared of the fucking ocean, when there is WHOLE FUCKING UNIVERSE AND SPACE around our whole fucking planet like, aren't you scared of that infinite space?
A lot of these are fucking dumb. No offense to you all, as mine is gonna sound retarded as shit to some of you, but these make no sense for the most part: many of the creatures show would not be able to thrive considering a lot of things. What bugs me, however, is what if hell is down there? What if you're able to see the worst type of shit down there, shit that just shouldn't be seen. There's a reason why only 10% of the ocean has been charted IMO. Just thinkin bout it fucking makes me spooked as shit
Nothing scares the fuck out of me more than groups of jellyfish.
>two more grab onto my legs and start to pull me down
I agree. Real sea creatures are scarier because they are actually real. Commencing posting of real scary ocean pics.
Viperfish, not very big but scary ass face
THEY'RE CUTTLEFISH YOU AUTISTIC SHIT
Plenty of ocean related shit to be afraid of.
The director of avatar sent in a remote robotic sub down to the depth some time ago.. did it find anything? I heard it found some new small species of fish but thats all I heard
At about 18m there is a 1m dark purple layer of toxic bacteria containing high concentrations of hydrogen sulphide. This toxic layer looks so dark it resembles the hole's floor but is actually a boundary which separates oxygenated water from oxygen-free water below it. This oxygen-free water has similar properties to water found in the oceans 3.5 billion years ago.
Hatchetfish, again very small, not as scary looking but. This motherfucker can make its self invisible (using reflections)
this little fucker
blobfish is as i knows it but a quick google search shows people call it ziggyfish too
I snorkel In Australia nearly every day, the only time i get creeped out is when i swim over a large area of thick seaweed and it rubs against my chest or like yesterday when I accidentally stepped on a stingray
This shit always freaks me out, my nightmare is just drowning in an ocean this deep. Which is weird because my fantasy is exploring down there in a little submarine, safe behind some crazy thick glass of course.
This isnt your average everyday darkness. This is advanced darkness. Fangtooth. Teeth so big it cant close its own mouth
yeah i know the squid over here are no threat to me, but netting and wrecks can be, plus the occasional shark. But i mean why didn't the guy in the vid use a knife to try to fight those fuckers off? It might not be much use, but punching a squid through water cannot be easy.
Ausfag here, Coles Bay kelp forest is scary as shit but so damn beautiful
That happened to me and I got smashed into a rock with open oysters all over it :(
there is actually an upper limit on how big a sea animal can become and how big a sea predator can become - carnivore whales and colossal squids are the upper limit. If there were bigger animals they simply wouldn't have enough prey.
Hence - thank you Japanese, for killing whales and not letting giant mosters to evolve underneath.
That my friends, is a Bobbit Worm...
couldn't say for sure, quality is pretty shit, but i think it may have been something to do with the diver descending too fast. pressure will completely fuck your system if you don't go up and down slowly.
>there is actually an upper limit on how big a sea animal
There's also a limit on how big exoskeletons can be. Coconut crab is very close to the limit.
And there's a limit as to how small endoskeletons can be.
what about 1? found this cutey a few days ago
Atolla jellyfish. Not really scary as it wouldnt attack, clever defense mechanism though, flashes when under attack in hopes of attracting something that will eat the thing attacking the jellyfish
It'a small fish, retard.
Why no posts about ships in storms braving enormous waves. There are recordings of ships rolling over the top of a huge wave only to find themselves literally staring into a 100m drop
Maybe a bit unrelated, kinda scary to think that if you went near one youd be boiled to death by up to 600 degrees of hot water
I feel like there's a human somewhere in there. This must be some sort of living hell.
I feel like I'd always be in pain if I were one of hear mutated freak fish. They look like they're in pain, they've got random limbs hanging out of placing where they don't belong, their teeth are like giant splinters and nails lodged into their gums and they've got holes all over their bodies. Fuck that, I'd be swimming for the shores.
>Liopleurodon = 6.39 meters
>Blue whale penis = 3.0 meters
You fuckers think the OCEAN is scary? Wait until you fucks hear about Lake Vostok.
A freshwater lake underneath the ice in Antarctica that's been isolated from the rest of the world for millions upon fucking millions of years.
There's evidence of life down there, but it's unknown what could be in this lake. It's full of unknown life and probably has it's own unique prehistoric ecosystem.
They've found unknown DNA/bacteria down there that doesn't match anything we know.
shit's crazy yo.
holy ballz it's just a pic and still scares me
IM TIRED OF THESE FUCKING SHARKS
>Im a WOMAN and just because I'm on my period it's suggested i shouldn't be in the ocean??
>There is an increased chance of a SHARK attacking WOMEN just because we have a PERIOD
>Sharks are misogynistic womanizing pieces of shit
>The shark that ATTACKED me is part of the patriarchy
>This is a form of RAPE and OPPRESSION against all WOMYN
I kek'd so hard.
Not fear of swimming or being in large bodies of water in general?
>Pic related: two cars that were accidentally discovered in a relatively popular lake last year with the remains of six bodies inside them
>Both cars sat undisturbed underwater for 43 and 44 years respectively
I am the joly cheeus 'n' crackers sun of dug
