these compositions have a real zelda-esque feel to them. adding reverb, percussion and messing with note velocities can help get a more natural tone out of a virtual instrument since that seems to be what you have to work with for now.

if you want to get a fuller bass sound, id go for just a standard sine wave with a lowpass filter, then add another sine wave on a highpass filter with a touch of resonance and distortion to get that more hollow bass without actually losing the lower frequencies. you should definitely finish this

well i went to youtube and spent a little while just copying whatever i saw but after producing for about a year i began to understand how everything worked and branched off into my own sound design. I use Massive as my only synth, but the versatility is unreal. One big thing to sound design is making sure the levels are even. Getting a vowel filter or something is easy, just a bandpass filter or double notch, but those filters create huge jumps between frequencies, and for the sake of the mix as a whole you want it to be relatively even. It takes a whole lot of experimenting, if you want shoot me a message if you have a wip or something and I can listen and give feedback, I'd be honored to listen!
