FACT
The only reason the attitude era was successful was because it appealed to mainstream white trash renecks who were easy to entertain with syfy movie level storylines and tits. Wrestling going mainstream today would be a disaster because it would be an sjw run show copying buzzfeed and people discussing privilege instead of fighting.

White trash was already watching wrestling, you're underage because you would realize the edgy storytelling appealed to teenagers and edgy preteens

i think going mainstream means you appeal to more people. Attitude era was big cause everyone watching it. Black, white, hispanic, jew, Gentile
The problem is wrestling has always been a niche thing. Attitude era was the thing that made it have a more wide appeal.
Basically attitude era was the counter culture. it wasn't meant to have standard good guys and standard bad guys. It was a morally grey era of roided up gladiators. it was great
nowadays half the roster wrestles with their shirt on because their bodies are so terrible.

I've been watching a lot of stuff from the AE lately. I was a WCW mark back then so I never really saw much of it. The formula was pretty much the same every week: promo or match going on, Stone Cold comes out for no reason, stunners everyone, again for no reason, pours several cans of beer on his face, flips everyone off, and leaves. Crowd goes nuts.
