How about the fact that drugs are heavily illegal and very difficult to come across, and also Japan works it's athletes harder than most western countries. You want proof? Many American baseball players who go to Japan last only a single year because the workload is too much, they're used to catching a few ground balls and some line drives while in Japan you have the 1000 ground-ball drill.
