UWFI vs. NJPW was similar in concept but vastly different in execution & presentation. UWFI vs. NJPW was basically a series of interpromotional match between two rival promotions. nWo on other hand revolutionised the business in more ways than one.

Although the UWFI vs. NJPW from October 1995 to April 1996 was successful for the latter - UWFI went out of biz by the end of 1996 - it wasn't anywhere near as successful as nWo Japan which lasted over 3 years. You see, NJPW's top heel Masahiro Chono joined the nWo on an episode of WCW Monday Nitro in December 1996 - WCW had a working relationship with NJPW. When Chono returned to NJPW he formed nWo Japan. NJPW didn't just copy WCW's version of the nWo, they imported it lock, stock & barrel. They used the exact same name, same logo, same attitude & even some of the same wrestlers.
