>First off, I'd recommend listening to the Wrestlenomics podcast by Chris Harrington if you're into in-depth discussion and analysis of WWE's finances. The important points to note are the $200 million dollar loan wwe took out last December, and the paltry ~$3 million in wwe network profit this past quarter, which included WM 33. The podcast also noted wwe using most of last years profits to pay out the shareholder dividends. Let's not forget about the more recent cost-cutting endeavors (Canceling multiple network shows, no pyro)
No matter how low ratings go, the company will continue to receive escalated fees for the next two years. But come 2019, it'll be real interesting to see how negotiations go.

Football Season begins in less than 1 month on September 7th, 2017. Ratings will UNDOUBTEDLY be obliterated by Monday Night Football. If you thought the ratings earlier this year were low, wait until Football season. For a company who's only alive because of this TV deal and are completely dependent on it, what are your predictions for 2019? Are they FUCKED or will they pull a rabbit out of the hat?
>>
Hopefully they get a really shitty deal in 2019 and it lights a fire under their ass.

If the ratings stay low they're going to get a shitty deal, it's as simple as that. They really don't have the leverage to get a favorable deal, given the ratings and financials. The trend shows it will only get worse between now and then too, unless something drastically changes, which we can all assume is unlikely. Sad times for the "big company"

Here's a quick discussion on yesterday's WOL with Midget Alvarez talking about WWE's financial crisis. He makes a very good point.

>"Now, in 2019, they gotta get a new deal. And meanwhile, they're gonna go before USA Network and go y'know, probably by that point 33% since we signed this last deal and we want more money but hey, lots of people watch us on Youtube. How do you think that's gonna fly?"

E-Drone logic absolutely blown to pieces.

Oh, really? Why don't you enlighten us, E-drone? Come on, we're all ears. Go on, tell me why you aren't fucked when the only reason the WWE is even alive is because of the TV deal only to set record low ratings (Which will ONLY get lower starting in September) for 2017.

>>
>Are they FUCKED

This one. They've spent the past 15 years driving away their viewership and destroying their cultural relevance in the name of becoming more "advertiser friendly". You don't recover from that overnight.

As things stand, they haven't even taken the first steps to recovery: End the PG era, and give the wrestlers an outline rather than a script. Just remember that there's always a home for things that are controversial so long as they're sufficiently popular, and that controversy is good so long as it makes your product look interesting. You can't say the same for a sanitized """safe""" product that nobody cares about.

>>
>>2989738

A miracle on the scale of SCSA, combined with changing the environment so that such a star could actually rise.

Realistically, it's too short of a time period to recover from the damage that they've done to their viewership. They've had over a decade to listen to a non-stop flow of good advice from both fans and industry legends. They responded with a mixture of laughter and "muh ad bucks". Now they sink.
>>
>>2989754
Nobody said anything about hogan.

Only a moron mark thinks equality works in wrestling or that wwf 80s and attitude didn't used pop culture trends to get over.

Both eras changed wrestling styles.

History, sceince and facts prove this. Not homoerotic feelings.

Booking is relative, some NWA fans think wwe booking was always wonky, full of plotholes, dropped shit, Cringe moments.

Unless Vince steps aside and there is a entire change top to bottom on WWE's current philosophy about ""sports entertainment"" there's really not much they can do. We'll possibly see WWE scale down even more, booking smaller venues on the road and sticking to larger places when it's about the 3 shows that really count: Rumble, Mania and Summer Slam (Survivor Series isn't important these days)
>>
>>2989789

Cena could have helped to stop and reverse the downfall in the first place IF THEY'D JUST TURNED HIM HEEL SO THAT HE COULD GROW ORGANICALLY. Instead, if there was one wrestler who's face I would put on a poster for the downfall of the WWE, it would be his. You can't force feed your viewership something that they don't want night after night and expect them to stick around.

WWE is a prime example of what happens when you sacrifice tomorrow's stable foundation for a quick buck today. I bet that the t-shirt sales of 2006 are the last thing on their minds right now. If they could trade them to keep the fans that they lost in that time period, and subsequently, the eyeballs of the children born in that time, I'm sure that they would do it in an instant.

They didn't all leave at once to give us the audience and cultural relevance that the company has today, dumbass, and it's easier to pull an audience back in when they still haven't completely purged the habit of watching your show from their minds.

2006 WWE probably could have recovered in two years.
2017 WWE is in the process of getting blasted back to the days where it looked like they were on their death bed.
>>
>>2993271
Many fans are retards.
>>
>People in this thread don't know about USA and almost every other networks incredible ratings dip.

Yeah the products shit, yeah the ratings are down, but cable networks will do a lot to get ratings as high as WWE consistently produces (even the small amount they are now), especially in the time when ratings are down for almost everything almost everywhere.

Networks are desperate for programming that drives ratings, and can bring in big sponsors, the kind the E has been getting since they went pg.
>>
>>2993407

What makes you think that such networks make for a stable home? TV is only staying afloat off of pure momentum at this point.

You're also ignoring the pathetic arena attendance.
>>
>>2993419

Which is exactly the point. Almost every professional sport has seen a dip in both ratings, and attendanc. Including the big 3 sports in america. However all of them have continued to sign monster tv deals over and over and continue to do so. For as bad as it seems for the E, networks are even more desperate and our willing to do just about anything to get consistently large ratings. Which WWE (even doing terrible business) still provides.
>>
>>2989738
Pretty much a miracle. Reminds me of back in 1997 when they had to take loans to stay afloat then.
