The business may have been booming but people were tuning out of RAW and in to Nitro because RAW was shit and Nitro was great in comparison in 1996 and the first few months of 1997.

No, Sid was very over, as was Bret Hart, Taker, SCSA, and HBK. The product itself was shit, it was only an hour, it wasn't live, the storylines were mostly crap, the atmosphere was terrible, it wasn't fresh and exciting, and so on and so forth. Meanwhile Nitro was hitting it out of the park every week with the NWO angle, a superior commentary team, live shows, more than an hour long, and with fresh and exciting new ideas.
