Had to be because of Adam's promo in the beginning, didn't catch it but it had to do with Youtube not paying lately, YT must have been SEETHING to pull it down 5 minutes after the show was done.

Here's the thing man...when you're using someone else's platform to make money, you have to understand that you're subject to their rules and odds are it won't last forever. They really should have used YouTube as a way to drive traffic to a site and to market their promotion, not as the main vehicle for it.

How can they be so shocked that uploading half-naked people simulating violence while live crowds shout obscenities doesn't earn you money?

If you upload to a third-party site, you adhere to their rules. You don't go to the park, join the ongoing football game then declare that you're in charge. If you don't like it, tough. Adapt or leave.

The businesses you're referring to are communication utilities.

When you have an entire population of people who rely on youtube for their livelihood, its not acceptable for youtube to revoke their platform and bankrupt people.

They've become so widely used and (more importantly) DEPENDED UPON that they fit the definition. You can kill some businesses just as easily by cutting off a youtube account as you can by cutting of internet or electricity.

Again, this is the ignorant argument of a child who's never had a job, but I'm sure you'll keep trying to prove something.
>>
>>2717647
If you think Youtube is obliged to do anything with regards to allowing content on its site you are an actual autist.
>>
>>2717657

>>
>>2717649
>>2717657
Let me give you an example you're probably intimately familiar with:

Youtube shutting down a business by cutting off their account arbitrarily is just like a power company cutting you off because you're using their electricity to power sun-lamp for pot.

Some monopolies are legal, but they are regulated to prevent abuse. (You fucking idiots)
>>
>>2717656
No, you're clearly either a youtuber or a fanboy of one if you think your appeals to emotion negate facts.

Fact: Youtube is a business. People use walmart to get their groceries but guess what? you can be kicked out of walmart for saying something wrong and can even lose your job there if you start shit talking the company on your social media.

Fact: it's a privilege to post on youtube. You are dumb enough not to protect yourself against a changing market you reap what you sow. Blame capitalism.
>>
>>2717665
Youtube is no way a fucking utility. It pays you to post content and can choose not to pay you anymore if they do not want your service.
>>
>>2717668
>No, you're clearly either a youtuber or a fanboy
incorrect and not an argument.

Restating your retarded position is also not an argument. You don't know what a utility is, and that's sad.
>>
>>2717671
>Service that functions as a legal monopoly in its field
>Provides vital support for businesses, without which they would go bankrupt
>Not a utility

>>
>>2717661
>>2717665
>Strawman harder.
Chill out man, if you're familiar with logical fallacies surely you know that the comparison to cutting electrical power is false equivalence.

Shutting down a youtube channel is fuck all like shutting off your power. It's more like if I rented you a floor in my office building for you to work in, and you used that floor to start a fight club.

I'm more than capable of, and completely in the right when I tell you to cut that shit out.
>>
>>2717656
You can throw ad homs to make you feel better. But the fact is YT is not a utility, it does not have a monopoly, and you sign an agreement to adhere to YTs policys.

>>2717665
>comparing a YT channel to the electricity in your fucking home
You have just jumped the shark. Also to completely shit on you, the electric company has the right to refuse you service if you dont pay. So even in your poor example, you're wrong. (inb4 hurr ur so dum cause u no agree)
>>
>>2717672
You are the ignorant one. You are arguing because of it's size it's somehow essential to force them to pay people for services they do not want anymore.

Your electric company, water company, any other utility, YOU pay them. You don't pay to post content to youtube.

>>2717675
>Legal monopoly
I wasn't aware there was no other competition, that you can't choose to post content elsewhere, youtube was buying up their competition, or actively interfering with other video providers to cement its position.
>>
>>2717678
>muh false equivalence
The difference between youtube and your office space example is that youtube functions as a virtual monopoly in its field.

This would be obvious if you actually knew what a utility is, but we're dancing around your ignorance.
Also, the fact that I'm not nice does not mean I'm not calm. Stop projecting.

No, I want people to set aside petty childishness like "I don't mind what Youtube did because I don't like the channel it happened to", and realize what Youtube is, and how it should be regulated.

>No, I want people to set aside petty childishness like "I don't mind what Youtube did because I don't like the channel it happened to", and realize what Youtube is, and how it should be regulated.

Okay so now we are getting to the crux of the issue. YT in general will never be regulated like an electric company, or an airlines, 1. because it doesn't have the same societal inpact as either of those. Esspecially since it is quickly being replaced (netflix, twitch)
2. And this is a problem that I have brought up in the past, and that is that nobody is willing to take YT to court to finally sort out what is YTs societal roll. What should be determined as a strike, and what should YT do to protect its users.
tl;dr nobody is going to challenge YT in court so they can do whatever

>>

>nobody is going to challenge YT in court so they can do whatever
That's why its a legislative problem rather than one for civil court.

If you could just sue a defacto utility into being regulated as such, somebody WOULD be doing it.
The problem with Youtube is that it functions as a utility, yet maintain's a normal business's right to terminate contracts without reason or notice.

The fact that you think this is something to be solved in civil court is evidence that you don't really have the knowledge to participate in this conversation.

Maybe I should use the shorthand "Talking out of your ass" rather than "idiot", for the sake of accuracy, but fuck you arrogant cunts.

>>2717934
Son, your argument is no more than wishful thinking.
I'm sorry but this simply isn't the case. Youtube is a website that offers a service that they can revoke if they feel you are using it incorrectly.
I'm allowed to hold a bat in public but if I start swinging it around, it's going to be taken off me.
>>
>>2717934
>sperg out at the end
Why? We were having a good chat. Again you keep harping on this utility aspect. Rather I would compare YT to McDonalds, and individual YT channels to individual franchises. McDs does protect its franchises from theft, accident, criminal activity. YT should protect their franchises instead of leaving them out to dry at any instance. But I think WC is better off making their own website and hosting.
>>
>>2717938
Disdain for people being victimized by a corrupt utility is not an argument.
And corruption IS the operative concept here, given the Youtube/WWE partnership.

>>2717949
>Arguing how things should be
>"b-b-but that'll never actually HAPPEN!"
In the present context, Not an argument.
I'm glad you finally concede my point, however.

>>2717959
McDonalds does not engage in arbitrarily fucking over its franchises, nor do they have "mega-franchisees" (The WWE partnership) who compel them to squash competition within the company.
If those comparisons don't make sense, welcome to the point. Franchises is not an apt analogy.
>>
>>2717240
WC can became a cam whore on pornhub. That seems right up Adam's alley
>>
>>2717973
Jesus Christ dude, you're actually insufferable.
Not every disagreement is some chance to come out on the top of the dogpile. You're the only one throwing insults and shitting out this self righteousness.
I'll give you a hint. You'll be a lot more likeable if you cut that shit out.
>>
>>2717973
>Disdain for people being victimized by a corrupt utility is not an argument.
>And corruption IS the operative concept here, given the Youtube/WWE partnership.
Complaining about corruption isn't going to make it go away or stop it. It's never going to go away, EVER. Youtubers can live off patreons if what they do is so valuable. That's a realistic solution. They don't need ad revenue. If not, time for a real job.

I'd much rather be on the top of such a shitty dogpile than under it, and I don't owe these people anything in terms of civility.

>>2717997
Fake solution, idiot.
If you're not going to treat ANYTHING online as a utility, guess what happens under your model? Everyone on youtube gets paid through patrion, then PATRION becomes a utility (and finds a way to become corrupt unless regulated as such).

So your clever solution just defers the problem rather than doing jack shit about it. (all because you can't grasp that "utility" refers to things beyond your electric bill)
>>
>>2718010
And there you go calling everybody children. What are you? Early 20s? Late Teens?
You probably just had a psych 101 class where you learned about logical fallacies. You know you are the biggest perpetrator of ad homs and false equivalency in this thread?
I'm just telling you to change your act or get used to a sad, sad life.
And please don't give me some edgelord response about how you like the misery, or how misery is other people. Just reflect a little bit.
>>
>>2717973
Well my point was barring on if YT was ever taken to court. The fact is they never will so you will see dirty dealings. Again I think the best avenue for WC is a personal website and hosting
>>
>>2718010
>Everyone on youtube gets paid through patrion, then PATRION becomes a utility (and finds a way to become corrupt unless regulated as such).
I don't think you know what Pateron is. Money goes directly to the content creator from the viewer. There is no outside party to corrupt it. Pateron just serves as a carrier. That would be like the Post Office becoming corrupt.
>>
>>2717355
>Yep. Once YouTube totally fucks over independent content creators there will be a new site to take up the mantle.

No there won't.

Youtube gets 300 hours of video uploaded PER MINUTE.

Google LOSES money.

Everyone who tries will fail.

Google only keeps youtube as a loss leader to push people into gmail accounts & using their products & advertising systems.

The reality is online creators basically have to become "famous" on youtube, and then hope they can figure out how to monetize outside of it, including building their own content sites. And it'll never pay as well as youtube used to pay before pewdienazi fucked everyone over.
>>
>>2718023
I'm thirty, and I've been on this site for nine years.
I have a much more practical approach to not drawing heat every day of my life: Be polite when you aren't anonymous.

The fact that you're arguing for me to care for my reputation on an anonymous image board suggests there are some dynamic here that you are not grasping.

>>2718034
Yes, you've already mentioned that you think companies become classified as utilities through civil suit rather than legislative action.
That's why I stopped arguing with you. You need to go LEARN shit before you try to talk.

In his defense, patreon wouldn't become a utility, but would be corrupt.

>Oh pay for patreonPLUS so you get your money faster and we don't take that big of a cut
>>
>>2718051
See, people would defend that. The real corruption comes once all the youtubers have shifted to patreon.

At that point, switching services would require getting in touch with EVERY patron (completely impractical).
At that point, they can increase their cut freely and selectively lower it for major accounts who look like they're about to complain loudly.

THAT'S the corruption of an unregulated monopoly.
>>
>>2718039
You fail to realize that not every youtuber is doing it for money.

The ones doing it for money are no different than the ones you are complaining about. They steal, borrow, and take ideas from small channels, YT comments, and websites and promote it on their bigger channel for views and subs. They are succubuses. We don't need them. If you want a free flow of information, you can still get it on youtube without them needing to live comfortably for uploading lots of daily content to get ad revenue. The paranoia is out of control.
>>
>>2718065
>argument to arbitrary disdain
Let me guess, you pirate all your old media, right?
>>
>>2718049

>Yes, you've already mentioned that you think companies become classified as utilities through civil suit rather than legislative action.

Nah that was somebody else. I was the guy who showed you that YT could never be a utility.

>based PDP
No wayyy. He did what everybody feared, nobody wanted the law to come to YT because everybody was doing shady shit. Hell he's the reason WC got legally fucked in the ass.
>>
>>2718051
>>Oh pay for patreonPLUS so you get your money faster and we don't take that big of a cut
Pay more to earn more? You think that made sense in your head when you typed it?

There is no realistic scenario for patreon to be corrupted. It could get shut down by the government if they search hard enough for tax fraud, or create a law to make it tax fraud, or it can be hacked as a false flag, but they are not going to cut themselves out of their own market by becoming corrupted with your stupid ideas. It's not realistic. They have a sustained service that doesn't need extra or outside revenue. That's how corruption weasels it way into a business. Patreon isn't going to voluntarily do it to themselves.
>>
>>2718049
>Who knew that my partner Disney wouldn't like me doing Nazi shit in my videos, and that advertisers wouldn't want to be associated with idiots like me.
>>
>>2718088
>Pay more to earn more? You think that made sense in your head when you typed it?
That is absolutely something they will eventually do.

I wouldn't put it past you to not understand a concept like prorating, but its a bit of magic that could be used to entice people into giving money away.

Ex: Make PatreonPlus more expensive the more patrons you have at the time of subscription.
This would entice people to get in early, when its not profitable, under the mistaken assumption that they're going to blow up at some point.
>>

Lol. Without money the incentive to continue, and to improve is massively diminished. Even the time to conceive & create the actual content is reduced as people work real jobs instead of relying on youtube money.

Also, Youtube itself loses money which means any service seeking to emulate it either has to be highly selective (ie, Vessel which failed), paid access (Vessel/youtube red, which are failures) or shit.
>>
>>2718088
>Pay more to earn more? You think that made sense in your head when you typed it?
lmao you were so quick to make some backhand response that you didn't even think. Your autism is out of control. You have ZERO (0) clues how contracts work. payreon as of right now takes a cut of the money, there is nothing that can stop them from taking more.

I'm talking about valuable content, and you're talking about all content. Who gives a shit if shitty monetized content stops being churned out? Like I give two shits if h3h3 productions goes bankrupt and that retard has to get a real job. Or the schmucks who make react videos. Give me a break. You're fighting for these guys? Grow up. Who the fuck is relying on these guys for anything other than wasting time in our lives.

Anything of importance that is on youtube will still get uploaded to youtube regardless of whether it is a monetized video or not. Sorry your favorite shit poster you sub to, won't be doing it anymore. Join his patreon or find another one. No one else really gives a fuck.

It really isn't an outrageous thing to say when you can see thousands of people spouting the same rhetoric daily. It's the main reason why the joke went over so poorly in the first place.

Thousands of people who are anonymous.
