What a lot of people don't understand is that indie wrestling, spots and flippyshit isn't something that only hardcore nerdy wrestling fans like. Show this to the average person, be it someone who has little respect for wrestling or a lapsed wrestling fan who hasn't watched since 2001, and you'll see that they actually love it.

Normal people enjoy seeing exciting and impressive athleticism like this. Show a bunch of normies Ospreay and Ricochet, and there's a good chance you'll get a lot of them actually showing interesting in pro wrestling. You might even convert a few of them into wrestling fans. Show them Randy Orton sticking Bray Wyatt in a headlock for 10 minutes while he makes goofy faces, the best reaction you'll get will be the girls and the gay guys drooling over Randy. Everyone else will laugh at it and absolutely none of them will have any respect for it.

The only reason normies don't watch wrestling anymore is because WWE has monopolised it and has slowly destroyed it's reputation amongst the normie populace. When they think of wrestling, they think of Vince Mcmahon's softcore gay porn extravaganza. It's the only wrestling getting any exposure today because it's continuing to ride the coat tails of it's previous successes. They only fans they have left are the hardcore fans. The first time you see a big spot it's cool but seeing it multiple times it becomes mundane instead of a spectacle and all youre left with is two skinny midgets in a match with no build.
