My understanding is the Taichi "master" is also the founder of this style. He wasn't made a master by an older, senior teacher of an established lineage.

Not saying that MMA isnt a much better delivery system, but that guy doesnt even look that great at tai chi

He could have been traditionally licensed and given permission to start his own style, but its probably more likely he did a few years as an outside student, added his own half-assed ideas and founded a new style.
