In fairness TNA did take the company all the way to a spot in Spike TV because of exposure from known wrestlers like Angle.

The bad part was, all of the other known wrestlers were well past their prime, and booked to go over original TNA talent. It was fucking stupid.

Signing Angle was fucking HUGE for TNA, but they were too stupid to make it work for them in the long term. That wasn't Angles fault.

Point I'm trying to get to is that if Punk did sign with NJPW, then it could totally work. But much like TNA with Angle, it's all about how they use him.

I dunno, I feel like Punk's best skill (mic and character work) would not be utilized well in NJPW. He is very charismatic though and I would like to see him again, but he really is at his best as a stand-out amongst the generic WWE guys and not so much among his fellow indie geeks or Gooks
