>be born in 1986
>as 6 year old little Jimmy, start getting into WWE around 1992
>from age 6 to 11, enjoy shitty 1992-1997 no-dimes New Generation era of WWE because I was too young to know better and it was mostly geared towards kids anyway....also caught a bit of WCW's Dungeon of Doom cheesiness
>around age 11, urge to be edgy pre-teen sets in
>age 11 to 16: from 1997-2002, get to witness WWE's Attitude Era edginess and WCW's peak with nWo, Sting, Goldberg, etc.
>go into adulthood enjoying WWE's Ruthless Aggression Era

Fact: There was no better period to be born as an American pro wrestling fan than the early to mid 80s

This is true, and it's all over now.

88 here, similar experience.

Feel sorry for anyone who started watching wrestling in the 2010's.

I feel bad for anyone who started watching after '04

You're not wrong.

Attitude Era is overrated as fuck.

Stop being blinded by nostalgia.

They were a lot of people's heroes

Raw was drawing in the 7's and 8's back then

Won't someone now be better off with the benefit of hindsight so they can skip past the boring parts or the pushes you know went nowhere?
>>

>Won't someone now be better off with the benefit of hindsight so they can skip past the boring parts or the pushes you know went nowhere?

Witnessing something based as it happened is not the same as going back and watching something that was based....even taking into account the boring parts/flaws

Hence all the "I was born in le wrong generation" faggots

So there I was, backstage at wrestlemania. I used my nephew to lie and get us backstage by him posing as a make a wish kid. We asked to meet bailey and Sasha banks.
My nephew then went to the restroom as planned and I had them both to myself.
My boner couldn't be contained in my pants, as it burst out to the delight of Sasha banks. Her lips were tender and moist as they embraced my throbbing johnson. Bailey started trembling as her wetness leaked it's way down her legs. She hugged me gently as her passionate pussy slid down on my pulsating pecker.
I couldn't hold back my pleasure as we both moaned and groaned in pure ecstasy. As I exploded my hot load inside her Perfect pussy, Sasha licked my plump round balls as the cum leaked it's way down into her mouth.

If anything us old fucks should be making fun of you underage losers. When I was younger I atually went out and had fun and slept with girls.

Now that I'm middle age and work my dick off for 12 hours a day I feel absolutely no shame in coming home and shitposting from the couch
>>
>>2586277
yep 87 here, shocking to think that we got to experience and entertainment event era that may be unique to past or future human history. What WWE has done is an abomination. I want to see them go out of business more that I want to see the product get good again, They deserve it.

everyone watched both

especially when wcw was kicking wwf ass you sperg
>>
CRINGE
>>
>>2586645

I don't know why people still pretend that a lot of wrestling fans didn't watch both at the time

Most fans may have been more vested in one company over the other.....but most of us at least checked out the other company's main event to see what their hottest feud was

Those 600,000 households that switched to Foley winning the title after Tony Schiavone's "butts in seats" comment? A large number of them actually switched back to Nitro after Raw ended that night, to check the last five minutes that they still had left

Many fans kept their eyes on both shows to some extent. Fans that strictly only watched WWF or WCW were not that common
>>
>>2586277
Born '85. There is absolutely nothing but truth in your post.
>>
>>2586687
here in mn
nitro was was 2 or 3 7 to whenever

we'd tape the first hour, switch to usa for raw and then switch back to tape end of nitro

a lot of the time wwf didnt have a main even or they had a main even type showdown where you could never see what happened after raw is war

this is why we like nitro for a while
>>
>>2586597
I think the heart of the matter is that becoming a publicly traded company made the WWE turn its back on what got it there. I don't think that the zeitgeist of the Attitude Era was going to last forever but the product has become steadily more controlled, more forcefed, and less organic. The fans used to matter because they were literally life and death of a promotion but not anymore. Not in any realistic way.

Started watching wrestling at 1984-85. Right after Rocky 3. In New York we got WWF,AWA and Crockett came later on a UHF channel that had bad reception.. Rented tapes and copied them both WWF and Crockett. later on tapes bought from John McAdam. Then Youtube.

'88 here

Being in middle school for the AE was based as all hell. Nothing but parroting all the catchphrases all day urr day with your idiot classmates. Even the hot chicks were like "oh my god The Rock is so HOT."
>>
>>2586687
>Many fans kept their eyes on both shows to some extent
Jesus fucking CHRIST, I miss doing this so damn much
I kept up with the Austin/Vince feud as well as the nWo. Even though I preferred WWF I still watched a lot of WCW and was even a fan of their Cruiserweight action
This was probably the best part about the AE: fans having the ability to choose/switch between hot mainstream wrestling products whenever we wanted.....WWF, WCW and ECW (which wasn't as mainstream but was still well-known as an alternative to the first two)
God, we were so fucking spoiled back then and didn't even realize it.....
>>
>>2586687
Alot of them were kids at the time and thus developed an autistic brand loyalty to what they watched. Same way console wars still exist to this day.
>>
1988 here, OP is right
>>
>>2589300

These youngfags will never know the feel of being able to discuss pro wrestling openly in public without shame. It was that popular back then

Wrestling is nerd/kiddie shit now but in the late 90s/early 2000s even the Chaddest of boys in high school were talking about wrestling, like it was one of the regular sports like football and basketball. Dudes either repped nWo or DX, and had arguments about their favorite wrestler
>>
>>2586277

similar to OP (born in 87)

> go into college, getting into UFC thanks to The Ultimate Fighter being on TNN / Spike TV
> try getting back into wrestling in 2009, and see how shit WWE has become
> got into NJPW and NOAH and got to see how much better those 2 promotions are
>>
>>2589286
>never went to a backyard gig
Obviously never had friends to hang out with

>never had drunk sex in middle school with young virgin girl
Hi Phil.

>>2589295
Yeah XPW in the early days when there were porn stars and ECW heads like Sabu and Kronus. I saw chicks in the crowds show their tits, Kronus knock a dude out for real, and met Ron Jeremy. Later on I would get free tickets (they were on a tv station my uncle managed) when they moved up to the Sports Arena, a crumbling relic of the 80s. It was fun to see this as 12 or 13 year old.
>>
Born in 1984.

Never realized how good a year that was to be born as a future pro wrestling fan until this thread. Other than the earlier Hogan era stuff I caught basically everything at the right time.

After the Attitude Era I started watching Pride FC. It's a mma org for those that don't know. they had a big opening ceremony and some fighters had huge entrances and had a long ass ramp from the stage to the ring. I never watched UFC before it or during its run and was severely let down when UFC bought it and found out they had (and still has) shitty walk outs.
Unlike WCW, Pride died while being the #1 mma org.
