Me, watching New Japan for the first time: "T-that's just a normal clothesline... he didn't even deliver it that hard."
It's the wrestler who makes the finisher, not the other way around. It's why a shitty finisher like The People's Elbow was over as fuck.
>>2542387
People's Elbow wasn't a finisher.
>>2542401
Could you be more underage?

>>2542409
I didn't watch wrestling during this shit time period. He might have finished 1 person with it during the entire Attitude Era.

I get the theory, but it still doesn't make any fucking sense. The only two Okada matches I've seen so far were against Omega and Shibata, and his finish was literally the softest move anyone delivered in either.
Even the Rock admits that the People's Elbow is dumb as fuck, but logically a 270-pound guy dropping a hard elbow seems like it should hurt somewhat. Rainmaker actually looks kinda comfy, like something you'd do playing with your little brother in the backyard.
>>2542409
They had him beat Phil with a non-finisher just to embarrass Pepsi boy?
>>2542379
E drone seething
>>2542401
Yes it was. Way to confirm you did not watch WWF.
>>2542420
Cena has spent the better part of the last 15 years beating everybody with a Fireman's Carry.
>>2542420
The Rock Bottom is less impactful than a regular spinebuster.
>>2542420
>comfy
>>2542415
you mean like HULK HOGAN AT WRESTLEMANIA?
Fucking kids trying to talk about shit they never saw.
>>2542614
Three Rock Bottoms + an elbow
>>2542632
They're both shit.
>>2542420
> but logically a 270-pound guy dropping a hard elbow seems like it should hurt somewhat.
before it's literally preceeded by Rock monkeying around in the ring, during which any normal person would recover
does it matter? No, because it looked fucking cool and hyped the crowd like crazy.
>>2542614
Kek.
And since you mention Hogan, his legdrop hardly looked great either.
It was all in the build up.
>>2542420
>but it still doesn't make any fucking sense.
It does actually because every one of Okada's signature moves targets the head/neck area which, kayfabe wise, weakens them enough for the Rainmaker. He's one of the rare wrestlers who based his move set around his finisher.
>>2542605
That only looks bad because of the wrestler nearly breaking his neck selling it.
The Rainmaker's a shit finisher that depends entirely on the opponent overselling it. Fuck that. The fact that Okada had to hit it FOUR TIMES against Omega says it all.
>>2542420
>but logically a 270-pound guy dropping a hard elbow
>The People's Elbow
>hard
Nigga that was the softest elbow ever and barely even hit them half the time.
>>2542621
The Elbow WAS the finishing move though
Like Kevin Kelly said, it looks like the rainmaker is like being hit with a bat. They have sold it well I don't know what you are talking about.
>>2542645
>The fact that Okada had to hit it FOUR TIMES
>>2542621
You mean like the Rainmaker is usually preceded by a Tombstone?
>>2542401
get out, kid
>>2542634
Then what even is your point?
>>2542645
The Stone Cold Stunner relies entirely on the person selling it, or overselling it, and looks terrible when people sell it badly. It's the most over finisher of all time.
It's almost like wrestling is fake or something.
>>2542663
Don't have one, sport.
>>2542415
>I didn't watch wrestling during this shit time period. He might have finished 1 person with it during the entire Attitude Era.
Way to expose yourself, little guy.
>>2542645
>the F-5 is a shit finisher because Lesnar hit Reigns with it FOUR TIMES
>>2542645
His hitting it four times against omega was because Omega was that strong of an opponent. Everyone else he's hit that with went down after one of them.
Can't stand these RA era babbys who watch two matches of an era they haven't watched and then start spouting dumb shit.
