> At press time, neither Mauro Ranallo nor WWE have made any statements on the case past WWE saying Ranallo is under contract through 8/12. Ranallo’s contract doesn’t allow him to give unauthorized interviews on WWE and the belief is that WWE is working hard to come to a settlement that would include an agreement that he not publicly talk about the issue.

> Layfield going off on Ranallo on the WWE Network show “Bring It To The Table,” which was the final catalyst for what happened, while positioned and purported to be an unscripted show, that’s not exactly the case. The show isn’t exactly scripted, but the topics, the tone, the parameters and where to go and not to go are all discussed in advance. It is Chris Chambers who puts together the show and Kevin Dunn is the person responsible for the show. Because of that, Layfield’s attack on Ranallo was not something done off the cuff or out of the blue. Chambers had to know about it and Dunn had to know about. Vince McMahon may not have known about it, but after it became an issue, he would have known about it and the show was re-aired without the segment being edited off. Whether or not it was Layfield’s idea to do it, what they could and couldn’t do was up to Chambers. The insults, at least the tone or degree of them, had to have been approved in advance.

> The reason the Progress wrestlers only worked the WWN shows and WWE shows is because WWN wanted the Progress wrestlers exclusive to them and WWE and WWE had paved the way for them to be able to get all their working papers in order to appear in the U.S.
>>
> From someone on the WWE side with full knowledge of the particulars of how the negotiations were going, at least as of right now, all talks about WWE buying ROH are considered dead. ROH and WWE are still in talks about licensing old content on the WWE Network, but no deal has been made on that.

> Drew Galloway had never agreed to appear on the ITV project but the Impact side claims that Jim Ross was on board to do the show but hadn’t signed. He backed out after getting the WWE offer, which was about five or so weeks ago. The offer was said to be extremely strong. The one thing we’d heard was that Ross’ view is that the ITV project was only guaranteed for ten episodes, while his WWE deal was for two years and that WWE would always be around.

> Dezmond Xavier has verbally agreed to come into TNA, not sure of the start date but would figure it would be the next tapings, which take place 4/20 to 4/23. There have also been talks with Jake & Dave Crist but I don’t know that it’s a done deal.

> Mike Johnson reported that Monsta Mack & Dan Maff were originally going to be in LAX and the current team was brought in at the last minute because Mack & Maff were unable to do the last tapings due to their real jobs.

> In a joint filing, Vince & Linda McMahon reported family worth of somewhere between $938 million and $1.1 billion, mostly in stock and real estate in a government filing related to Linda being the head of the Small Business Administration. Among the things they own are an $8 million home in Greenwich, a $3 million penthouse at the T r u m p Park luxury condos in Stamford (where Vince lives much of the time), about $12 million in ten different bank accounts under Vince’s name, $25 million to $50 million in a Morgan Stanley money market account, and WWE stock worth $782 million. They also own properties in New York, Las Vegas and Boca Raton and millions in public bonds. They are also owed somewhere between $5 million and $25 million by an unspecified family member that they loaned money to.

> WrestleMania live event merchandise alone grossed $3.7 million, making it the second largest of all-time, trailing only last year in Dallas, where the attendance was probably 30,000 greater. If you figure that the show drew 60,000 to 65,000 people, that means it ranged rom $57 to $62 per head, which would be easily the largest figure I’ve ever heard of for a pro wrestling event.

> The reason they did the angle with Steph going through the table & being out of action wasn’t so much for the angle, but was a cover story cuz they had scheduled a family vacation at Turks and Caicos in Caribbean.

> Angle was on Jericho’s podcast and said that due to nerve issues, he can right now only bench press 185 pounds, which is not much at all for someone of his size. Then again, with all the wear-and-tear on his body that wouldn’t surprise me. He said his upper body strength isn’t good from all the neck injuries. When asked about doing MMA, he said that at one time he was fooling himself on that subject regarding the ability to do an MMA career. He said that looking back with perspective, that he wouldn’t have been able to adequately defend himself with all of his injuries.

> Jim Ross’ new deal with WWE is for him to work between 30 and 40 dates for the company for the year. That seems to rule out being on a 52 week a year show, and Ross has publicly said he’s not interested in that role anymore anyway as he doesn’t want to do that level of traveling. That could be appearing at PPVs, doing studio work in Connecticut, or announcing other live events.

> WWE announced a multi-year partnership with DAZN, an international live sports streaming service which is owned by the same parent company as The Sporting News. The deal is to stream both Raw and Smackdown live in Japan, which started this week, with the timing being because Nakamura starts this week as a full-time main roster member. Raw and Smackdown will air on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 9 a.m. Japan time with Japanese language commentary. It’s the first time a Japanese announced version of Raw aired live in the market, as previously the live version on one of the smaller sports TV channels had the English feed only, and a Japanese language version was on tape. The shows can also be accessed on demand immediately after they air, plus DAZN will air WWE Experience, WWE This Week and WWE Bottomline compilations shows weekly.

> On the 4/3 Raw show, it wasn’t just one beach ball, but several (the number I was given was seven) that were in play during the Neville vs. Mustafa Ali match. There were somewhere in the range of 10 to 20 of them that were being confiscated. Also, the singing in the Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Enzo & Cass match was a song where they would mention Cesaro & Sheamus, similar to the Bayley song that gets song at European shows. It was an attempt to make them this year’s Fandango. At the 4/4 Smackdown tapings, people in the crowd popped beach balls that popped up, so it was the reaction to what happened the night before.

> There is a plan to do a slow build to an AOP vs. Heavy Machinery program.

> Dwayne Johnson has signed up to star in a Disney movie called “Jungle Cruise,” based on the Disney theme boat cruise. Johnson will also co-produce the movie with ex-wife Dani Garcia. The movie is set for filming next year.

> WWE Studios filed a lawsuit on 4/6 in U.S. District Court in Connecticut against BitTorrent, which pirates copyrighted content and has gone with the idea that since they are based outside the U.S,, they are immune from anything WWE or other companies can do. The WWE has alleged that BitTorrent infringed and variously infringed on WWE copyrights, most notably putting the movie “Eliminators,” on its streaming service. The WWE claimed it was able to identify the IP address of the person associated with the infringement and that they were suing for statutory damages of $150,000 per person who accessed the file, as well as its court costs.

> Aleister Black will be working Raw house shows in Lille, Zurich, Stuttgart and Leige in addition to the Rotterdam show we wrote about last week.

Wonder who this could be, bearing in mind Shanetty was a total flop in China, his company lost money every year he was involved and he probably had to pay off the Chink mafia to not get murdered. Sad!
