For ten of his fifteen years in WWE John was shit at both, at this point in his career Roman is better than Cena was at the same point. Cena only got good after spending years working with and learning from people who were a lot better than him.

And it's not as if Roman doesn’t know he needs more work, he basically said so on talk is Jericho when he admitted that he wanted the Shield to stay together longer than they did so that they could flesh out their characters together.
