There are many things to be gained from the practice of arts, martial or other.
However, what I gain from martial arts is but a small part of why I do it.
I do it simply because it's a habit, and fighting is fun as fuck.

My ability to gain sleep, reduce stress and maintain psychological well being, and potential for living longer and not dying early, are increased.
I can gain this benefits with relative ease because martial arts is entertaining and appealing to me.

There is correlation between obtaining knowledge and developing skill, and preventing the onset of neurological disease, including Alzheimer's.

Obtaining knowledge, developing skill, these things are fulfilling to me, more so than smoking weed, drinking alcohol, doing drugs, having sexual intercourse, and casually interacting with a majority of humans.
