That didn't bug me so much because of the way Roman carried it. The reason it bugged me is because it was a perfect encapsulation of how much the US Title did not fucking matter and only existed as a prop for Roman. He never defended the damn thing on PPV after finishing his feud with Rusev, he immediately went into a feud for the Universal Title after Survivor Series and after he lost it, he was like "meh, that's a tough pill to swallow. Anyway, I'm gonna beat up Owens and take his title instead."

At no point, during his feud with Rusev or his feud with KO and Jericho did you ever get the sense Roman cared about the US Title, which is pretty stupid writing for a babyface.
