Let's keep this thing rolling, lads.

Any and all things joshi are welcome in this thread.

http://www.stardom-world.com - World Wonder Ring Stardom's own streaming network. Go here and hand over your yen monthly to see Kairi Hojo, Io Shirai, Mayu Iwatani, and terrible gaijins

http://pro-w-wave.com/wave_network - Pro Wrestling WAVE's streaming service. Uses the same setup as Stardom's, so if you've gave that one a go this one'll be easy to navigate despite being in moon. Feed ZABUN your money to see Misaki Ohata, Sumire Natsu, Yumi Ohka, and that one bald broad Sawako Shimono

https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/0B5rK95X3mRiiX1lTUkFzaGRhaUU - this is the daddy. The RealHero Archive, packed full of enough puro and joshi to keep you going until you kill yourself before you're 30. The Joshi folder contains pretty much everything that's aired in 2016 as well as a lot of classic stuff, with more uploaded as it airs. Only things that don't get uploaded are promotions with their own networks, so no Stardom or WAVE for you. Have at it

stardom's main problem for me is that there never feels like any progression is happening. just feel stagnant, whereas the other promotions are constantly moving forward. just throw in some angles and a few title changes -- something!

There's just only so much the promotions can do. It's a niche of a niche. Wrestling interest is down across the board. There's too many promotions. No one has any national TV and hasn't had it since AJW in the early 90's.

And the problem is, having TV doesn't mean what it used to due to their being so many entertainment options and due to people having less money than ever before

I also don't feel the booking of joshi has been very good for about 15 years now. Very few feuds and very few angles.

The JAV girls do much much better. There's directories for soaplands and escorts online and you can find just about everyone you can imagine on the various sites and go fuck them. Even average or lower end porn stars are going to be able to get a few hundred dollars per session.

I think as the economy in the world gets shittier and it is as a whole, and as good paying jobs require more and more, people are just going to go into sex. And with milfs and thicker girls catching on - there's been more big tit releases than ever in JAV this year, it's only going to open the doors for more people. People like Yumi Kazama have been at it since the 90's.

Really, if you want to go into porn, how much money you make is up to you with cam sites, escorting and social media. You put yourself out there and you will find takers. And now, your takers can be people from anywhere in the world.

I would go into this without question if I were a chick.

It's not National TV but the best TV spot for Joshi is probably OZ's show on GAORA Sports. Many sports fans subscribe to GAORA since it has NFL football, rugby, baseball etc.

Here's the schedule of their 1/25 show.

Saturday, February 11 from 21: 00-23: 00

National tv existed even during very late or morning slots. They can't afford it anymore or are not courted by networks.

You have to pay a fee to be on tv in Japan for every fed not Njpw.

Noah loseing Ntv in 2009 meant they won't ever fill up budokans again unless it's a stacked mutiple company show with a retirement.

Only Njpw has a national tv slot, and it's a recap show coming on late.

I used to live in Japan.

Most people especially in the bigger cities don't have satellite. It's when you get further out in the cities that you start to see it. They have no real need to in the city. You live in Tokyo and you can see as much wrestling as you want each month, the way its meant to be seen - LIVE. Not only that, but everything entertainment of note comes to Tokyo at some point. I'm pretty sure some American bands go to Japan more than they come to my city.

Japan is a country where people are pretty active, despite what the internet tells you. Most people either walk, bike or take trains/subways to places or a combo. You'll do more walking than ever in Japan. Add that plus people working 6 days a week, working longer hours and eating out being somewhat cheap, and people aren't aren't home watching TV that much.

All Japan Women's losing their good TV spot in the early 90's/late 80's killed the golden goose and I still think joshi struggles due to that being the main reason, amongst others.

The problem is that TV is starting to not be relevant anymore and once that happens, I have no idea how wrestling grows.

>>2226061
>stardom isn't really progressing booking-wise.

You can say the same for every other joshi fed minus maybe Getting the D. Lets not pretend there's any innovative booking going on in JWP, WAVE, Ice Ribbon or OZ, they all do the usual stuff that their fanbases are used to.
>>
>>2226287
>It's all about just kinda surviving cuz that's their only way of living in current year
Yeah this
>>2225708
Product, not business(though their Korakuen attendance hasn't progressed in years), which is true. They do something for a month(Kagetsu joining Oedo Tai while teaming with Hiroyo) then forget about it immediately and run in circles. Or this stuff that's meant to be progressive but it just gets presented as the same old shit like Io, currently
>>
>>2226570
Except maybe OZ(even though the Hiroyo/Kato story was more than anything Stardom's done in a long time) and JWP(cuz basically being half dead then losing Arisa who was all over the top belt beforehand does that to you), Stardom is the worst offender of it.
Dont have WAVE anything so idk about them.
>>
>>2226464

I also used to live in Japan, in Tokyo. When I watched NFL games on GAORA I'd always see DRAGON GATE and OZ Academy commercials.

You'll see lots of satellite dishes on people's balconies in Tokyo.
>>
>>2226611
>Stardom is the worst offender of it

How? Ice Ribbon just put the belt back on Sera after the one millionth Fujimoto reign and aside from that they have nothing new going on ever angle-wise.

Thinking Stardoms in-ring product sucks compared to other promotions is all fine and dandy, but you're letting that cloud your view when it comes to booking, which isn't more stale than the rest of the scene.
>>
>>2226724
I wasn't necessarily talking about 'innovative' or 'new' angles -- it's wrestling, all of the innovative things that could happen have already happened -- just shit happening in general. If I can give a quick run down a things..

Ice Ribbon:
>Risa Sera as ace; Sera/Yamashita rivalry
>Yukihi Maya build up and feud with Aja Kong; Aja wants to rematch Maya in her Ozaki-gun form now
>Kurumi/Tsukushi going for the tag belts again
>Manami Toyota having something of a renaissance with the Triangle Belt
>Miyako finding new ways to be sleazy

SEAdLINNNG:
>Some of the most compelling angles going right now

JWP:
>The 'rebuild of JWP'
>Hanako Nakamori as ace in her first Openweight Championship reign
>Command Bolshoi & Leon in a masked mature ladies tag
>Yako Fujigasaki's "Visual Hunter" angle and defending against outsiders as JWP Junior Champion
>Booking Akiba Siori

OZ:
>Hiroyo as the new top star
>Generational shift with younger talent being focused on
>Hiroyo/Shida rivalry
>Yoshiko & Kong in a monstrous tag team
>The never-ending war between the sekigun, MK4 and the rest of the roster

Senjo:
>Aja Kong holding the belt captive
>Satomura/Syuri II
>Shirahime build
>C-Hash redemption
>The never-ending DASH/Shida feud with Miyagi now thrown into the mix

WAVE:
>Mizunami as the new top dog
>Avid Rival dissension; Mizunami/Ohata feud
>Lots of crossover rivalries
>SAKI resurfacing and feuding with Sumire; they'll face in singles on 2/11, but the real blowoff is set for 8/12! (Stardom could never book an angle this far in advance)
>Big anniversary show on 8/12

Stardom:
>Coasting until Io's Anniversary
>Momo & Kyona building
>Endless title match spamming (basically filler, but filler for what if they build to nothing??)
>Hardly any feuds beyond title match spam
>More gaijin

Stardom has made 0 progress. It's the same exact company it was a year ago.
>>
>>2226724
Well I didn't say anyone else's were mindblowing, hell I've already said nobody has anything going on that's interesting. Stardom however is stale to the point where it's agonizing because of how long it's been stale while everyone else is mostly just meh except OZ and JWP that dip lower than meh. The space between the super long Fujimoto reign and the recent one, the tournament with all the stories going in it, and Sera's win I'd say is more than what most have done plus more intriguing, even if the winner was probably the 3rd most exciting winner of the 4.

>Stardom has made 0 progress. It's the same exact company it was a year ago.

The Stardom twitter cultists would probably try really hard to sell Queens Quest, gaijin "invasions" and loli undercard matches as progress, just like you're trying right now with all that mostly unimpressive stuff you're fluffing up for those promotions you seem to enjoy.

I see no real progression there in any way, it's mostly rehashing the same old shit, cartering to stagnant fanbases which want exactly that.
>>
>>2227068
>The Stardom twitter cultists would probably try really hard to sell Queens Quest, gaijin "invasions" and loli undercard matches as progress, just like you're trying right now with all that mostly unimpressive stuff you're fluffing up for those promotions you seem to enjoy.

Whether it is impressive or not, there are things actually happening is my point. The previous year of those companies actually meant something, things progressed, main event scenes shifted, new stars born, and now they go into 2017 with a fresh approach. None of this can be said for Stardom. I'm not sure how you're having such a hard time grasping this.

I'm not exactly bias against Stardom either as I do enjoy their shows, but creatively they are way behind the other feds. They need to shake up their booking. Booking the gaijin as credible threats rather than filler, a singles belt change or two, etc, could easily rectify this.

>I see no real progression there in any way, it's mostly rehashing the same old shit, cartering to stagnant fanbases which want exactly that.

There will never be any "real progression" in joshi. It's where it is and it will stay this way.

I'm talking purely booking/creative.
>>
never forget when oedotai were looking to be pushed and were gonna get a tag title shot in korakuen but then they murdered their push before it even began by having them lose 2 pointless and filler title matches before their big tag title when then all they did was face their own faction members before losing their belts to a thrown together team that doesnt need them

Just watched Yoshida/Futagami (4/16/1999). It might be their best singles match together, though I think their 99 match told a more interesting story. This one had more action and they wrestled more as equals, but I'm leaning towards that 99 match as still being their best. This one is a very close second though since Aja didn't have to carry Meiko like she did in GAEA. Here's the link by the way:

Eighties AJW was when it got good, but you'll have to get a good source. Even guys like Lynch and Gennete (sp?) I think miss some of the stuff from that period. Japanese traders are hard to come by, plus it's not rare for them to ask 3,000 yen or more for copied DVD-R's.

Yep. It's a shame, but there's 11 Joshi promotions trying to split up a personal pan pizza here. Arisa really screwed them over, when they took her back after she quit years ago.

Oh and Saki Akai
>>

The main, semi-main and Ito/Reika were great.

>>

That's sad, but do we really need yet another fucking joshi promotion that's not going to bring anything new or fresh to the table?
>>
>>2252547

I didn't say WWE would sign her, just merely that her and a couple of the other girls are probably already ready.

We do know WWE is going to do a women's tournament this year and I do think we get a few Japanese girls in there, and whoever they pick for it is going to be light years ahead of the rest of the girls in the tournament.

JWP outlasting AJW never ceases to amaze me
>>
Is there a market left for "serious" joshi wrestling? As in no idol bullshit and sex appeal kept to a bare minimum with the focus being on in-ring work?
>>
>>2252605

Sex appeal and joshi have always gone hand in hand.

You'd probably have to go back to the 70's to not have any. The 80's had Mimi Hagiwara who was the first real idol, the 90's had Toyota/Takako/Cuty, the late 90's had Omukai/Fukawa, the 2000's had the Jd Star Athresses who were all straight idols and we got tons as well right now.
>>
>>2252625

90's LLPW is probably also something you'd wanna look at.
>>
>>2252601
JWP had died before AJW, then came back later

>>2252713

Yep, this is JWP's 3rd death technically. They died in 1991 as Japan Women's Pro, they died in 1997/1998 and they've now died again, and I don't even see what's the point right now unless they find a bunch of rookies.

>>2252739
There's a lot of history they want to retain, I guess. Finding rookies probably won't be hard if they do continue to operate.

>Tokyo Joshi Pro '17 (1/4/2017)

TOKYO Princess of Princess Championship: Yuu (c) vs. Shoko Nakajima

This was a big improvement over their 2016 match. The groundwork was tighter with smoother transitions, but still has that roughness to it that makes the struggle look genuine. The match looks like a fight, there's nothing pretty about it, it's rugged and ugly. Yuu was amazing as the aggressor, she tosses and drops Nakajima with reckless abandon; the bumps are rigid and frightening, especially that John Woo kick. Nakajima hits the best Nothern Lights suplex I've ever seen, the torque, the speed, the impact, fucking hell. This was an excellent clash.

****3/4
>>
>>2253404
imo in the first match the second half didn't live up to the first. Really liked how they focused almost exclusively on submission work for to begin with and how what they established there remained important throughout the match, but when they went into the actual "moves" portion their sloppiness kind of shone through. It didn't help that they didn't seem like very good athletes and so some of their stuff looked pretty haphazard - transitions were a little slow, didn't seem to be much strength in a few things, and so on. If they've improved then cool, I'll check the match out

Watched the 1/4 Yuu vs Nakajima match. I think it was definitely an improvement on their previous match, but it still has a bunch of the same problems. The structure was similar and I liked that they once again devoted a big chunk of time to the matwork and that the matwork formed the basis of Nakajima's offense and informed Yuu's submission attempts later on in the match, although once again there was some slight timing issues during it where some transitions looked a little unnatural as they were a bit out of sync with each other, although that cleared up fast. As an overall narrative arc, I don't have any real criticisms of the match, so that's great
My problems: Shoko Nakajima is just not a good enough athlete to make most of what she does look good. I thought that in the first match, it was only reinforced here. She has a bunch of these fancy submission transitions like the rollback into the butterfly lock that are cool in theory, but she's doesn't have the quickness of movement to pull it off and not have it look forced. I levelled that criticism at Yuu as well in the first match, but she looked way better here and did a great job throwing Nakajima around, and her powerbomb finish looked devastating. Also completely showed up Nakajima on the submission transitions with that awesome rollback into the guillotine choke after the ropebreak. She was also the only person in the match who was delivering strikes that looked like they had any impact (although her chops need serious work) - Nakajima's dropkicks are legitimately bad. I feel like the crowd turned out for the big corner dropkick not only because it was a great bump, it was the first strike of the match that actually looked like it had connected with force
I don't know if TJP girls are avoiding hitting each other hard because idols or whatever. Is that a thing?
So yeah, really nice layout, some solid offensive ideas but let down by Nakajima's inability to convincingly pull off her own moveset
>>
>>2255966
I will say though, Nakajima's Northern Lights suplex was great. That was one of two moves she did all match where I thought it looked genuinely awesome - the other was her small package afterwards where it looked like she was legit just dragging Yuu to the ground
I really want to like her but her lack of athleticism is such a killer. If she had the exact same moveset she has now but with, say, Kagetsu's quickness, I would love her
Provided she got a better dropkick too

are you the same guy who tried to argue that DDT was a dying fed on wooo the other week and got laughed out of the thread ?

also you really saw ''2016'' as the attendance number for a 2016 show and you didn't make the connection ?
>>
>>2267312
>>2267339
in conclusion: ddt bullshits numbers.
>>
>>2267355
in conclusion: you are a dumb and didnt get a yearly joke DDT does
>>
Things like using the Never Mind number on an attendance chart is why I said TheJML is dumb
Motherfucker never looks at any context for anything and just throws numbers at the wall
>>
>>2267381
a true data analyst would compare those numbers to korakuen indie mma and amateur boxing shows to get a good grasp of the numbers
>>
>>2267353
>((((((((((super no vacancy))))))))))
>rows of empty seats visible to the camera

never fails to make me kek.
>>
>>2267419
you want to get laughed out of another thread ?

dragon gate is fucking garbage deal with it
>>
>>2267423
none of these indies even compare to fmw which really actually drew 40k. no visible empty seats.
>>
>>2267439
what does post-80s boom 90s first wave japanese indie wrestling have to do with anything
>>
did you know the FMW young boys would try to hit on the FMW joshis and all the young boys would get beat the fuck up by the joshis ?
>>
>>2267466
i bet the boys spent hours coming up with combat toyoda pickup lines

That made me wonder. Any joshi girls who did/do JAV? I know a lot of them do gravure shit but nothing hardcore.

''old'' and ''fat'' are not used as pejorative terms in my sexual imagination
>>
>>2266237
That's bullshit, it's still a wrestling promotion, your goal is to get ass in seats. No matter your business model you can't escape that, you need to sell those damn tickets.

>wrestling drew more in the 90's
Who would've thought

What are the essential Dump Matsumoto matches?
>>
>>2267466
Well doh at that time FMW wasn't a indie fed....
>>
>>2267755
Dump vs Hiroyo vs Miyako
>>
>>2267755
the two chigusa hair matches are obviously the greatest wrestling matches of the 80s worldwide but sometimes people stop there with Dump Matsumoto

Devil Masami vs Dump Matsumoto double title match from 85 is great too as a Top Heel vs Top Heel big match

there is a great Lioness Asuka vs Dump Matsumoto match from 86

the Bull Nakano & Dump Matsumoto vs Jumping Bomb Angels 2 out of 3 falls from the legendary 8/22/85 show is also a great match that gets forgotten because it was on the same show as the classic Masami vs Chigusa and Yokota vs Asuka matches

on some level all Dump Matsumoto matches are worth watching solely based on the pure cathartic heat she generates

only dump matsumoto could make me write this long of a post in this thread
>>
>>2267772
onita wasnt on TV, wasn't financed by any corporate interests and only got his publicity through wrestling magazines and tapes. It literally was indie
>>
>>2267647
>Koharu Hinata
I may be wrong but isn't she still active? I thought that doing JAV was just something you did to make some bucks to pay off that pesky yakuza debt once your career was over.
>>
>>2267792
I've watched one of the Chigusa hair matches before, the crowd reaction during that match was surreal.

I can't seem to find any of those other singles matches you listed, but I did find the Jumping Bomb Angels tag.

Guess I'll just have to settle with what's readily available. Thanks.
>>
>>2267869
i have the other matches, i will upload them for the greater good

they were excellent wrestlers and way ahead of their times in terms of workrate but that is not the reason why they got that over
>>
>>2267896
Just watched Masami/Dump. Devil Masami was very confident in her body language/jawline, like she's the embodiment of the Empire, but looked vulnerable enough in her selling to be sympathetic; Dump stalking her like a slasher villain before attacking really played into this well. I liked how Devil wasn't afraid to fight dirty, using weapons and throwing clenched fists. Really good stuff, the atmosphere was insane.

Btw, who were Dump's two masked henchmen in this match?
>>
>>2268218
I think one of them is Masked Yu and the other is Tranatula ?

The ref you see with them is Shiro Abe, he tries to help them win matches

They had TV specials, aired on Champ Forum, plus I have a few FMW shows from regional channels. Would bet there's more out there, I've also got TV shows from Shunji Takano's group, SPWF, YMB and other obscure promotions.

Jaguar was the best. And Chigusa was cute as fuck in the 80s. Then she turned into a monster.
>>
>>2271493
totally missing the point, M-Pro was on Champ Forum too doesnt make them not indie.

Yes but indies in Japan don't draw over 20000 people to a show, most will never draw close too 500 people.
