From my point of view, AJ Styles should win the match, transforming Cena finally in a frustrated former champion who doesn't understand why he can't get easily his 16th world championship, and who hates all that "New Era" idea which is putting guys like him out while indies are the champions. He could create an stable, "Old Wrestling Order", or something like that.

If John just reverts back to his whiter than white babyface gimmick, then it really only serves to bury AJ just a little. It shows that John was right, and that Styles is just a glorified Indy shitter, which in turn implants that in the audiences mind.
