Just watched ARSION's first card ever and it's pretty amazing just how fucking great it was. Not a single bad match; though it was sloppy at times but that just added to the grittiness. Why can't modern joshi be this good anymore?

Watched TJP's Yokohama show. It's solid stuff. The main event between Yuu and Tatsumi had a ton of raw emotion and the crowd was into it, despite the leg work that wasn't sold at all by Yuu. These girls are definitely green as shit, but at least they aren't doing any career-threatening spots like the green Stardom girls. They work within their limitations, I thought. Nonoko is unironically the smartest worker on the roster, you never saw Yuzupon working limbs with her boobs.

tjp is shit and even Mimura comedy matches against gaijins and the pedobait division in STARDOM are more worthwhile joshi to watch

I watched Nakajima vs Yuu and one of the major limitations for both girls was "cannot lift" but it didn't stop Yuu attempting a horrific suplex. They were slow as shit too and it was laid bare because the match was all matwork for the first five minutes and had a bunch of submission transition spots that looked sloppy due to neither of them having quickness. Kagetsu would have taken that chicken shit and made it into chicken salad
That said the fact they actually did spend the first five minutes on the mat and not trading fucking arm drags is worthy of respect

I barley watch DDT related stuff, either it's early DDT or Union possibly now Basara and DNA too.
But going by what TJP I have seen, it seemed harmless idol-ish wrestling and much better than the "pure" Idol groups I have seen.

This was a good twilight-era AJW match. The interference was annoying and the poison mist spot made no sense, but the work rate was crazy and they went non-stop to a 30 minute draw. They didn't really build to anything though, but I guess that's one of the flaws of forcing wrestlers to battle to a draw who clearly are at their best working matches with half the time. What are some other good twilight-era AJW matches?

Don't have the date at hand, but they had a big AJW 2 day out door show that for a large part took place during a frigging rain storm. It had a lot really fun matches, Momoe caried Asari in wet slippery ring and they didn't cut on the highspots either. The satalite TV version is something like 4 hours plus.

These matches were fucking insane. They feel like Dragon Gate tags or a modern All Japan sprint.

The Queen's Quest trios are the only thing that somewhat come close to this in modern Stardom.

I really need to check out more Battlarts since it seemed to try to balance shoot style and pro style instead of going 100% shoot style which I find mostly boring. That's one of the reasons why that Yoshida submission style in ARSION entertains me so much was BECAUSE she and her wrestlers she trained didn't go 100% shoot style and they made the submission work really exciting with the selling and the constant movement and always working to escape the subs.

And I'm not sure what it is but it comes across are more compelling too when it's joshis doing the submission style. Maybe because they're more flexible and the looks of anguish on their faces is more believable, but I'm more entertained by two joshis having an ARSION style match than two men having a Battlarts style match. But, like I said, I've only seen a handful of Battlarts matches and should check out more. The high work rate is also a factor I'm sure. That legacy Yoshida and Kong carried over from Zenjo.

BattlARTS is amazing and one of my favourite promotions ever. However, it can definitely be as dry as most other shootstyle stuff - while they melded more of the mainstream pro-wrestling sensibility in there, you're not going to be seeing that all the time. If regular shootstyle bores you there's a solid chance you won't find BattlARTS as entertaining as some of us do, even if you can appreciate it objectively. Still, I don't think there's a person alive who can't enjoy an Ishikawa vs Ikeda match. Check out the one from the first Fu-Ten show (Ikeda's promotion), that's just brutal as hell and I loved it
