Austin was never a midcarder after his first title run. The product as a whole started to dramatically decline after this Wrestlemania, most of the title reigns were underwhelming such as Takers, HHH, Benoit, and Eddies. The Rock's heel gimmick wasn't as good as his others and he was focused on Hollywood. Austin started to be a jackass and eventually was forced to retire.
