How did they get away with doing an honest-to-God Burning Hammer in a WWE ring in 2016?
>>
size queen marks seething
>>
>>2035546
> didnt even finish the match
Kek outlaw gooks and fat weebs BTFO
>>
>>2035546
idk but i marked hard. Especially considering Kota's shitty gook neck.
>>
>>2035546
A guy who don't work for wwe letting himself get hit with a dangerous move.

Meanwhile white people too faggy to take it.
>>
>>2035546
Because they wanted to solidify the meaning and importance of the CWC, this match, and bring Kendrick's arc to a fitting crescendo.
I would be triggered it didn't finish the match, but it was a fucking great match TBK shouldn't have won, anyway, and it was thematically justified.
>>
They didn't ask for permission.
>>
First, because in kayfabe only the guy who owns the finisher had more power damage on it. Second, Kobashi is 6'2 plus i think, meanwhile kendrick is a fucking hobbit, the impact couldn't be that hard... But, that burning hammer was perfectly aplicated and if Ibushi wasn't going to win the whole thing, he should had lose in that moment.
>>
>>2035838
Moves become regular moves over time. Special finishers are a thing of the past.
>>
>>2035546
because triple h was in complete control of the cwc

the cruiserweights started sucking the second vince's little minions got their grubby mitts all over it
>>
>>2035869
GOODEST OF GOYS
>>
>>2035860
Burning Hammer stands above that.
It is literally the only finisher that does.
>>
>>2035563
I don't know why people act as if AJPW were canon to the WWE, the Burning Hammer has no magic super finisher properties there nor it should be expected to have.
>>
>>2035838
I meet Kendrick once in bar. He was along with Daniel Bryan and they're look like Sam and Frodo. Also Brian irl is really nice guy. He gave me one of his flags (but mini version) and an invitation to his wrestling school.
>>
Cuz no one watched it
>>
>>2035838
Still thought he could get Ibushi to sign.

>tfw if they just gave up on keeping Ibushi, we could've had TBK/Metalik in the finals.
>>
>>2035546
They were literally told not to do things like this. Even Tozawa did something he was told not to do apparently. Kendick and Ibushi just lolnoped it and did it anyway.
>>
>>2035921
What were they gonna do? Reprimand Ibushi? Reprimand Kendrick and piss off Ibushi in the process?
>>
>>2035921
based TBK working Vince a-ga-in
>>
>>2035923
Basically. That's why they did it. Notice how in the CWC there were plenty of great moments but in the actual CW division it's watered down and dull as fuck.
>>
>>2035921
I mean, there's not much they can do to Ibushi or Kendrick in that position. They had no power over Ibushi and I guess they could've fired Kendrick as an NXT trainer, but clearly, they didn't. They put a fucking belt on him instead.

Y'know, if Ibushi had signed, that'd be really interesting, because he'd be one of the few guys in a position where they couldn't just make him eat shit and like it, 'cause if they fired him, he could just go to NJPW. Wonder how that would've turned out if he had stuck around.
>>
>>2035926
As if Vinny Mac watched the CWC.
>>
>>2035936
He did according to TBK
>>
>>2035546
because he drops him mostly on his shoulder not his neck

the real question is how the fuck did he kick out of a burning hammer
>>
>>2035936
I imagine even if he doesn't control it, Vince watches every wrestling program his company puts out.

I wonder if he watches bullshit like Swerved or Holy Foley.

>>2035932
I don't get it, at all. Guys like AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, even his own fucking son will go balls out in the ring and kill themselves and get huge pops and by all rights, Vince fucking loves those guys, but he won't let the Cruiserweights go crazy? Why?
>>
>>2035949
He was on Swerved so yes
>>
>>2035949
There's no way he can watch every single thing his company puts out, AND control every other facet of the business. I'm sure if the burning hammer went wrong he would be all over it and shut the CWC down,
>>
>WWE will never write a story as good as TBK I'm the CWC for manlets ever again
>TBK whose story and failure won a standing ovation and made Daniel Bryan legit cry
>He finally won the belt and had to cheat to do it
>Never had a legitimate defense and lost it in a month
>He is now a chicken shit heel wrestling on Velocity 205.

It hurts
>>
>>2035949
He doesn't want the new """""""womens""""""" division (CW) to overshadow his real main roster. They can get away with it on NXT because it's pretty much Network only, so most people don't know what they're missing out on.
>>
>>2035956
>>He is now a chicken shit heel

He never really was a standard chicken shit. They just exacerbated his traits to their negative extremes.
>>
>>2035957
Having the Cruiserweights in their own division is such a bizarre fucking decision in the first place. Guys like TBK and Metalik and Tozawa should be main eventing, not pissing around in the purple rope abyss.

>>2035956
Y'know, I didn't want TJP to win the CWC, I was Metalik all the way, but TJP sorta won me over anyway with those last two matches and his entrance was fun in a meme-y sort of way, and TBK was obviously fucking great and had a sick entrance theme on Raw.

They killed those dudes so goddamn fast. It's unbelievable. Swann and Alexander are great, but I'm sure they'll kill them too. I'm legitimately terrified for what'll happen to Metalik and Tozawa on Raw.

>>2035963
I dunno if you call it chicken shit or what, but asking a dude to lay down for you out of pity and that leading to you winning the championship just fucking murders everybody involved. Both of those guys were dead from that point on.
>>
>>2035936
> “Then I heard Mr. McMahon got a chance to watch the tournament, and some people talked, and I don’t know what the plans were. But it was after I’d already been eliminated and I was gone when they called me up and offered me something. I’m going to do my best to hold onto it and not be my own worst enemy anymore.”

Nice interview by the way
>>
>>2035964
I still think the should have the first hour of Raw be cruiserweights. Or at least dedicate an hour of the show to them. They got about 15 minutes last Raw.

I was never a fan of TJP from the start and didn't get why they gave him the championship. I'm worried about everyone in that division, because they'll end up with the blame after the division fails, and it's clearly not their fault.
>>
>>2035973

>raw should be nitro

Great Idea ;^)
>>
>>2035966
Well that just shows that when they did the burning hammer, Kendrick was already out, and still got offered a contract.
>>
>>2035975
Because it's going so well right now.
>>
>>2035973
>I was never a fan of TJP from the start and didn't get why they gave him the championship.
Honestly, the real reality is that they wrote themselves into a corner with the final four.

>Ibushi
Not signing.
>ZSJ
Not signing
>Metalik
Still had dates to run through, STILL hasn't wrestled more than one main roster match some three months after the CW Division started.

TJP was the only real option. Of course, your question here becomes so why the hell didn't you put somebody like TBK or Gargano into the finals over TJP, to which I don't really have an answer for you.
>>
>>2035921
vince probably liked that TBK had the gall to do it anyway and let it slide
>>
>>2036003
obviously vince likes the guys with a balls who can talk whatever they think
>>
>>2036003
>>2036027
The line between "Vince loves guys who show moxie and grab the brass ring" and "Vince goes ballistic when anybody steps out of line" seems to be an ever-shifting one.

Like, I think Batista would probably wind up on the other side of that.
>>
>>2035956
Honestly, my man, no matter how badly they fuck up his run in this pissbreak joke of a division they can never, ever take away from his magnum opus performance in the CWC. He's my favorite wrestler (pls no bully) and I've always been a gigantic Kendrick mark--the guy just "got it" from day one and is so charismatic and talented and unique, so I was crushed when he got buried, jobbed to fucking Jerry Lawler of all people, and then let go. His TNA stuff was still really creative and he went over on The Price Is Right but it all felt like unfulfilled potential, especially since his best friend was main-eventing WrestleMania at the time. For him to come back and tell this amazing story and have such a great showing and receive a standing ovation makes me indescribably happy for him. The Brian Kendrick Redemption Trilogy is one of the most heartwarming things I have ever seen in my life.
>>
>>2036039
agreed. Based Kendrick is one of the underrated wrestlers of all time. Along with Christopher Daniels.
>>
>>2035949
>but he won't let the Cruiserweights go crazy?

The style they wrestled in CWC isn't sustainable.
Those other guys you mentioned do that shit on PPV and a very scarce TV match.

>>2035964
>Guys like TBK and Metalik and Tozawa

Tozawa's a weird name to throw in there. Other two I agree with, though.
The problem with the CW Division is they have no context; we don't know how a TBK or a Swann stack up to the Main Roster guys, so they seem like uber-jobbers despite how talented or athletic they may genuinely be.
Just one win over an established guy willing to lay down like Jericho for Swann would do wonders for the division's entire contextual placement.
>>
Ibushi avoided the RAW work dark matches as an anime character.

Raw btfo
>>
>>2036003
You'd figure, but he fined Batista $100,000 for blading in a steel cage match during the PG era, as well as fining for $5,000 the referee who didn't know a thing about it. Vince is a bizarre man.
>>
>>2036057
It's especially weird when Neville is allowed to wrestle other guys (well not anymore, lol) or Kalisto and Baron Corbin can kill each other with chairs, but all the dudes who came on via the CWC gotta stay sectioned off and Sin Cara's gotta give up wrestling other dudes entirely and be purely Cruiserweight now.

Like what's the fucking benefit of that from Sin Cara's point of view, he's basically admitting that he can't cut it on the main roster and needs to go find a smaller pond to swim in. He might as well go back to NXT and wrestle Bobby Roode. Would Kalisto have had to do the same thing if he'd beaten Kendrick? Just given up on wrestling anybody bigger than him because he's the Cruiserweight Champion now? In that case, he should fucking thank Corbin for interfering.
>>
>>2036066
Vince is crazy out of touch, he didn't know what a burrito was until the Eddie Big Show angle or the fact there was asian porn
>>
>>2036070
>>I would pay money to live a single day as Vinny Mac. Imagine living in that fucking mind of madness, seeing the world through his purely psychotic perspective.
>>
>>2036070
how many states do you think vince is aware exist?
>>
>>2036123
I think he's just socially out of touch.
>>
>>2036123
all of them and most of the world, hes got a good mind, just doesnt notice outside of his interest bubble. Its been told by a bunch of guys that hes behind a shit ton about movies and pop culture, kinda surprised he gave the greenlight to new day since he probably doesnt know 80% of what they are saying and le dab man vince probably think hes doing a Dracula impression.
>>
>>2036143
Vince quite literally lives, eats, breathes, and shits wrestling. He may be absolutely mental but he's smart enough to follow general current events, but who's got time to stay up on pop culture when you own and operate the largest wrestling organization in the world? WWE is a behemoth and Vince probably doesn't afford the same luxuries we do.
>>
It's the Cruiserweight Classic.

To expand on that, in the CWC you are not officially contracted to WWE, you are only ever contacted to the next event. So it's more like indie booking in CWC. That gives Wrestlers more leeway in what they do, since they are only wrestling from match to match anyway. It's not like WWE can punish them in any meaningful way.
>>
This spot solidified both of these two on my "boys" list of wrestlers. I was honestly rooting for Kota to win it all after this match, if only to bring out the max of TBK's story. This match will go down as a textbook example of what storytelling in wrestling should be.
>>
>>2036034
>>2036066
The impression I get of him based on Bruce Prichard's podcast stories is a "depends on my mood and the time of day" kind of boss.
>>
>>2035984
>ZSJ
Look at him without his jacket
Is he a vegan?
He will never draw a dime without the help of fried chicken and protein powder
>>
>>2035949
>I don't get it, at all. Guys like AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, even his own fucking son will go balls out in the ring and kill themselves and get huge pops and by all rights, Vince fucking loves those guys, but he won't let the Cruiserweights go crazy? Why?

That's two questions really, but anyway.

The reason why he won't let most wrestlers do crazy is shit is basically because of the Benoit effect. They had Guerrero die, and then even way more seriously Benoit flip out and murder his whole family. Serious injuries have serious fall out, and so Vince no longer wants to take those risks for the most part.

However, there are people who can, or at least are given a wider scope in how risky they can be. Basically it comes down to how safe they are. I think Vince feels that if a performer has proven in the past that they can handle that shit with no injuries, or at least no serious injuries, he's far more likely to sign off on it. Like Shane, who has done a ton of seriously risky bumps, but never been seriously injured, plus he's the bosses son. AJ Styles has been plying his trade at the top of his game for well over a decade in TNA, so shit like the TLC match is just another day in the office to him. Then at the other end you get rumours like Vince refused to let the women do a Mankind style bump from the top of the cell, and you can see why. Sasha is a botch magnet, and she'd probably be dead by now if that went ahead.

So short version is, you just have to be in Vince's good graces.
>>
>>2035975
did you not see the last Raw PPV WWE is WCW
>>
>>2035546
it didn't get a 3 so it wasn't an honest-to-God Burning Hammer

just a pale imitation
>>
>>2035546
Still pisses me off to no ends that Ibushi kicked out of that.
>>
>>2036054
Daniels got fucked over in TNA. I'd love to see him on WWE
