Well that's gotta count for something.

How did you not hear about him as a kid? I'm younger than you but and not from the US but you couldn't go around the playground without kids talking about Austin and The Rock.

Stone Cold: Most Profitable WWE Champion of All Time
>>
Austin was the highest draw for the little amount of time he was on top. It's easy to forget that he only really wrestled at that peak for like 4 years because of all the time he was off with niggling injuries, the neck being the most obvious.
>>
>"Austin surpassed all of Hogan's records... in terms of merchandising and licensing, and pay-per-view and live events. Without question the most popular performer we've ever had." - Vince McMahon, Owner of WWE.

what did he mean by this?
>>
>>2018509
he meant that, unlike Stevetty, Hogan drew in more than one promotion
>>
>>2018162
This is true, although Austin has alot more pride than Hogan in the sense where he won't go out there years after his peak ended just to shill for himself or to go to TNA just to be on TV every week. Hogan has also only remained relevant the past few years via sex tape and saying nigger, but it all worked out for him in the end I guess because he settled with Gawker for 31 million. Hogan is still the first thing that comes to peoples minds with "wrestling", and Rock is obviously bigger than both of them now. Austin is the odd man out, but he seems very content with his life.

The Undercarder meme works because deep down everyone knows hes not as big of a deal as WWE claims he is.

The Stone Cold one won't work because everyone knows he was the biggest draw of all time and face of wrestling when it was at its peak

Nah, Rock does. If Austin wasn't out during most of the hottest year (2000) of the company, he would hold that record.
>>
>>2018709
WWF did all it's biggest ratings in 99

But we ALL know that those 93,000 people at WM3 came to see Savage VS. Steamboat.

>>
>>2018715

Barely. Anyway, 2000 would've been their most profitable year ever if the XFL didn't fuck shit up.

Wrestling profit was $84,981,000 in 2000, but WWE’s share of the 50% of the XFL losses (the other 50% was covered by NBC) was $68,994,000. Wrestling profit was only $68,937,000 in 1999.

Austin took a company with one foot in the ground and single handedly made it's flagship program the highest ratings in the history of the company.

$17 million for a 100k seat venue is actually pretty bad though.
