The new reality is a world where The Miz and Dolph Ziggler mock you by staging a fake fight version of the beating he took. It's not that the Creative department COULDN'T turn it around. It's that every other superstar is vying for those same spots, and now the whole roster has a shortcut to burying Punk, he is not worth anything to them.

It's not that they cannot turn it around - if everyone attacks him with "dat UFC" then eventually the fans will stop laughing along and he can move past it. But he ain't ever going to re-emerge as a surprise guest at WM and get that Dwayne Johnson style main event victory he always wanted....

Jim Cornette has an interesting take on it, where Punk stays in UFC, there is a "rehabilitation of Punk" type docu series, and he ends up doing a coaching programme reality tv show, or works in training, commentary, whatever. Could happen....
