What is your opinion on beginning to pursue MMA at 27 years old with the end goal of fighting in the UFC? Let's assume there is natural talent.
>>
If you mean competitively, it's almost certainly too old, unless that person has been an athlete for their whole life and a serious competitor in combat sports for much of it.

If you just mean doing it for its own sake - sure, why not?
>>
>>1770376
>end goal of fighting in the UFC
>if you mean competitively

Yeah I'm going to ignore your input as you couldn't even handle the task of properly posting on 4chan.
>>
>>1770379
CM Punk has made it pretty clear that you don't have to be competitive to fight in UFC.
>>
>>1770371
At age 27 you literally have a better chance of making an NFL roster as undrafted walk on than you do at making the UFC. MMA as a sport is slowly dying anyways, their boom era passed 5 years ago.
>>
>>1770428
Or find some other way to exploit the corrupt system. I mean, it might take a bit of work, but it's less effort than becoming a fighter.

>literally have a better chance of making an NFL roster

that's fucking stupid. do you even sports? anyone can get lucky in a fight and ring a guys bell. No, you definitely have a better chance at pro MMA then pro football
>>
>>1770443
At age 27 with literally no experience in training/fighting in OPs case his chances are slim to none to make the UFC.

You have fighters coming from around the world, that grow up in poverty. They fight so they can feed themselves and their families. They have been fighting since they were 5 or 6 years old. They fight to survive. This is your competition. Not only this but you are competing to get in the 300 some spots offered by the UFC, and even less spots are available that are actually in your weight class.

And yes, its harder to get into than the NFL. Again, think about it. You have around 90 spots on 32 teams. Thats about 3000 spots available in the NFL right there. There are 268 fighters in the UFC's roster. You tell me which one will be easier to get into....simple math brah.
>>
>>1770450
>thinks number of open positions matters

alright I get it you're a bunch of fat neckbeard virgin autists here. Do you have a competitive bone in your body? MMA is fighting. Everyone knows how to fight instinctively. It's fucking survival in the cage. And anyone can put anyone to sleep with a lucky shot. Just because there are more positions on a NFL team doesn't translate to you magically being pro football caliber. like wtf are you even saying?

if you follow MMA you're gonna see me and I'll call you out for being a dumb fedora faggot after I knock some goon out on pay per view
>>
>>1770443
right
>>
>>1770463
You are, without a doubt, a fucking idiot.
>>
>>1770473
What are not understanding you autistic fuck. A man that is about to be in his 30s (OP) has a better chance at making a NFL practice squad (statistically and literally) running routes and catching footballs than he does at beating a semi-pro that's been training in Jiu Jitsu, Muay thai, Taekwondoe etc half his life in a fight.

Getting into the UFC/Boxing and making a legitimate living off it is harder than making a living off the NFL.
>>
>>1770485
You are a fucking idiot.
>>
>>1770480
>>1770489
Thanks for these top notch articulate responses to prove you're right, retard.
>>
>>1770494
Writing a lot does not make your own posts any less retarded than these ones.

1. You know nothing about sports
2. You know nothing about statistical analysis

and yet here you are, shitposting about both, while complaining about shitposters.
>>
>>1770494
Not him but you're wrong, you can't be anything but huge and fast if you want to play in the NFL but you can fight as a scrawny manlet
>>
>>1770494
I will spell it out for you idiot.

You are only counting open spots.

Now count people legitimately trying to fill those slots.

Literally anyone with a whiff of athletic skill is trying to get in the nfl. Literally thousands of players from college every year try for those spots.

MMA is much more nitch.
>>
>>1770485
OP here again, haven't even responded do your dumbass in a whole minute. Glad to see not everyone on this board is a complete retard.
>>
>>1770504
not to mention the level of specialisation (physical and mental) required for each NFL position. A phenomenal all-rounder minght be in consideration for maybe 2-3 positions, but if you are going in as a tackle, then 95% of the other positions are already closed to you.

He is literally an idiot.
>>
>>1770504
The question OP is asking isn't getting into MMA, it's getting into UFC which is the NBA of MMA...

NFL isn't a global sport around the world like MMA. You're competing with hundreds of ppl in Brazil, England, Japan, Australia, US, China etc just for a spot in the UFC just to hopefully fight on an undercard and if you get that spot and lose your first fight you'll most likely lose that spot then go back to amateurs making next nothing and have to go through process again. Like I said making a living for yourself in the UFC is harder than NFL.
>>
>>1770510
Hood niggers with the IQ of a rock can make the NFL, stop hyping it up as this impossible sport to get into.
>>
>>1770518
you're done here man. you need to have some self reflection time and realize you tricked yourself into thinking you're not a dumbfuck.
>>1770519
Modern NFL players are top tier level destructoid mongoloids. Top level MMA fighters are in oferall better shape then most NFL players but the league is a much more brutal place...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_foreign_NFL_players

Your whole argument is based on errors and you are objectively wrong.

That is a list of just the international players who made it. Rest assured, there are athletes from across the globe hoping to come and play for the US-based teams in the NFL

You dedicate your training to one position. That means in any given year, you might have one of ~64 spots to win. You don't train as a field goal specialist and land a job as a cornerback, "just because that's what they had open".

>>1770519
you are a fucken idiot
>>
>>1770528
>he backs out slowly, trying to pretend he was baiting the whole time

Good on you, lad. Fake it until you make it. You deserve to be here. Chase your dreams. Etc.
>>
>>1770528
This. All these failed Football players think it's easier to the UFC because they failed at making the NFL
>>

Dude. You're giving your people a bad name. No wonder your kind get bullied in school.

>>
>>1770542
I actually yawned while clicking reply to you. Your lack of critical thinking skills is what is wrong with modern day society. Enjoy having the knowledge I just gave you that you exemplify the dense, blockheaded sheep that powerful people prey on.
>>
>>1770551
>doesn't know how to use the word ironic
>brings up a retarded question that isn't even in the realm of this discussion because it's based on ignorance and stupidity.

It's almost like you just figured out that UFC and MMA aren't interchangeable and you want other people to know that you know this fact. Are you 13?
>>
Go for it OP

90%+ of people truly don't believe in themselves. That or they have some sort of mental issues, personal issues, psychological issues bothering them.

They just do their numbers and denial and make excuses.

Be the first to prove old people can still do shit.

CM Punk was an example of someone having mental issues. He thought he was going to rush and get the 1 hit knock out, but got BTFO when reality hit him. He was too arrogant for his training, wasting his time on twitter all day, watching Hockey and Star Wars and fucking AJ, he thought he had it in the bag. But he didn't.

It happens to all wrestlers. They let their character get in their head. Stone Cold walked out because he thought he was a rebel, Rock became larger than life because he always saw himself as such, CM Punk thought he was hot shit, ... you get the story.
>>
>>1770534
That's it: keep trying to turn your IRL fuck-up into a "lel trolld u gud" shitfest.
>>
>>1770551
>>1770553
fucken idiot in full tilt mode

Get to high ground, lads. The crapflood is coming.
>>
>>1770557
I had to keep rewatching the beginning of the CM punk fight. At first I respected what he did, but after watching the first part of the fight for the second time I was disgusted with this guy. What the fuck was he thinking? What the fuck were the people around him telling him? He trained for 2 years? lmao CM punk is completely irrelevant to this thread because he is so old dumb and bad. But I appreciate your words and I think the same way you do. I can do anything and I know it. I might just do MMA for fun and maybe take on one amateur fight just to test my mettle. The more I think about it the more I realize I'd rather do something else that won't drastically decrease my quality of life when I'm older
>>
>>1770564
Apple, Microsoft, and Sony are all advertising for a Global Chief Financial Officer at the same time

My local hardware store is advertising for a part time shelf stacker; one (1) vacancy.

You're saying it would be easier for a 27 year old with no prior experience to get a CFO job, right? Or are you trying to convince me that:
>1 > 3
>>
>>1770568
Smart choice anon, you have better chance at making an NFL practice squad as a FG kicker than you do of even lasting one (1) round in any MMA venue.
>>
>>1770568
There's no way Punk trained for 2 years, prob not even 1 year,he was there cause he's a a draw and for some money ofc
>>
>>1770573
I could beat your ass and most likely over 90% of this websites user base's ass. I'm sorry you have a little dick and most likely a slack jaw dweeb but that doesn't mean you can project your insecurities onto others and get away with it. You're being called out. What are you gonna do? Keep trolling? Take a shower for the first time in a week? Step up motherfucker get some

What did Travis "real fighter" Brownie mean by this?
>>
>>1770580
And there are literally thousands of MMA promotions on the planet, but only a handful of American football leagues. Yet, if we are only taking the case subjects in hand, then you are saying it is easier to be Microsoft CFO than shelf stacker. Or you are saying
>1 > 3

Why do you keep doing this to yourself? Is it some kind of fetish?
>>
>>1770607
Thousands of MMA promotions around THE WORLD and Dana White selects a few fighters from a couple of those thousands of promotions to make the UFC.

UFC is EASILY harder to get into than NFL, especially if you're older than 25.

>>
>>1770615
Literally hundreds of players drafted and undrafted make the NFL yearly, only about 10 or less fighters make the UFC yearly.

But "muhhh NFL is harder to make" gtfoh faggot.
>>
Well OP.

It isnt impossible. It is extremely difficult.

5 years training multiple times per week, intensely and with good coaching. Combined with good diet and strength & conditioning training to maxmise the benefit of your MMA training.

All this combined with some natural affinity for the sport in some way (quick reflexes, flexibility, explosive power etc.). Plus high IQ which will help you learn things and develop quicker.

You combine all these and you might be able to make some waves in MMA by your early 30s.

The whole "trained since child" thing is overrated.

There are fighters who do this that never make the UFC and others who train much less that do.

Really each person is like a bucket, of different sizes. If the bucket is small, then pouring water into it for a long time (training from a young age) will still just fill the bucket up to the same amount.

If your bucket is large you can overcome the people with small buckets in time.

What makes you think he's going to have sex if he doesn't even have the common sense to take a shower?
>>
>>1770887
Great post anon. I'd also like to mention the power of visualization. I've been shadowboxing/shadow sparring for years. In my head I know I can fight even though i've never done it in waking reality. I'm a tricky guy at 6'2 and 3/4 inches with surprisingly quick feet. I'm robbing everyone if I don't step into the cage.
>>
>>1770371
Dream big, start small. Dont bite off more than you can chew. Do your rounds as an amateur and whatever happens happens. Way to many guys in MMA rush straight into going pro. If you're gonna do it, give it 100%.
>>
>>1772054
Props for your self confidence bro but its a different ball game when you're taking hits and responding to a trained opponent. How long you been training for?
