New Day drop the tag titles to The Club at Summerslam. They come out and say they've had the greatest run as tag champs and now they're going to go after singles belts. They talk and decide Xavier should go for the CW title, Kofi for the US title and Big E for the Universal title.

Xavier wins the CW belt first and becomes the first ever Cruiserweight champ. Kofi gets a US title shot against Roman Reigns and loses clean. All the guys are shown backstage consoling each other and eating Booty-Os to try and cheer up, and Kofi is so sad that he is eating the most, just stuffing his face with the things.

Meanwhile, Big E gets a shock win a number one contenders match to finally get a Universal Title shot against Seth Rollins at some Raw B-PPV. Kofi and Xavier are at ringside. At some point Xavier distracts the ref, Kofi gets in the ring and tries to hit Seth but """""""""""accidentally"""""""""" hits Big E with the Universal Title and costs him the match. The next night on Raw they are dejected, consoling each other and eating Booty-Os. Big E is crying and Xavier is acting a little smug as he is the only one with a title.

Kofi and Big E decide they are going to switch and now Kofi will go for the Universal Title and Big E will go for the US Title. Big E gets his shot first. At this point Reigns has dropped the US title to some heel midcarder like Owens, and Big E manages to beat him. New Day celebrate, but Xavier celebrates perhaps a little too raucously.

Kofi gets his Universal title shot against Rollins. During the build up, Xavier, who is dressed more outrageously every week, keeps talking about how Big E failed to win the Universal title. It looks like Kofi's about to get an upset win when Big E attacks him and brings about a DQ. They fight, and Xavier tries to break them up, and Kofi hits a Trouble in Paradise on Xavier.

They go an angle where they are all apologizing and shit and nobody knows if anyone is being sincere. It comes down to a match between Big E and Kofi for the US title, with Xavier as the guest ref. He does a fast count for Kofi to win.

Kofi is like "what was that all about" and Xavier says he justs wants him to return the favour with a US title shot for himself. Foley comes out and makes Big E the guest ref for the match. It's all going somewhat normal but then at the end of the match, a bruised and battered Xavier crawls out of the ring and grabs his trombone. The commentators are all like "what the fuck is he doing". He plays a few notes, and Kofi lies down in the middle of the ring and allows Xavier to pin him while Big E does a fast count. Xavier runs off with the US and CW title, celebrating, while Big E and Kofi look confused.

The next week, Kofi and Big E come out to the ring. They say they haven't seen Xavier all week and call him out to explain himself. The lights in the arena go out, then a single spotlight comes on shining on Xavier Woods who is standing on the announce table (now at the top of the ramp on Raw).

He is wearing his typical New Day gear but instead of blue or red, it's black. His hair is all up in saiyan style, and he's wearing a long black leather duster and shades. He starts doing a sinister laugh, and explains to Big E and Kofi that the Booty-Os that they have been eating contain a mind control drug, and that he is now their master.

Big E and Kofi laugh off this claim, so to prove it Xavier pulls out his trombone, which he has renamed Lightsbane, and plays some notes. Big E and Kofi start gently making out in the ring. Xavier stops playing and they look shocked and confused. Xavier says that only he remains of the New Day, and Big E and Kofi are now the New Gay.

Xavier explains that it was his plan all along. Both Kofi and Big E thought that they could win the Universal title and didn't even consider Xavier for anything but the Cruiserweight title, now look at them and look at him! Xavier holds both the belts and all the power, and next he will take the Universal title and will ascend. He will no longer be The New Day, he with just be The Day.

Throughout the following weeks, Xavier continually fucks with New Gay. They cannot even touch him because every time they try, he just harnesses the power of Lightsbane and stops them.

Big E and Kofi come up with a plan. Big E distracts Xavier while he's having a match and Kofi sneaks in and steals Lightsbane. Big E wants Kofi to destroy it, but instead Kofi decides he wants Lightsbane's power, and starts playing it and mind controls Big E to attack Woods (who now calls himself True Day). Kofi gets a US title shot and uses Lightsbane to make Big E to cost True Day the match. Kofi is now US champ.

True Day realises he needs to break Kofi's hold on Big E. Kofi is using Lightsbane backstage to make Big E crawl around like a dog, when True Day appears behind him with a katana pointing at Kofi's throat. He makes him drops Lightsbane, but before True Day can pick it up, Big E leaps on it and runs off. He comes out to the ring with Kofi and True Day running after him. He puts starts smashing up Lightsbane, while Kofi and True Day scream in agony. He ends up putting it through a table.

Kofi curls up into a fetal position in the ring. True Day goes nuts, hitting stuff with his katana but it breaks - turns out it was only plastic. Big E gets a mic and says it was for their own good, and he hates what New Day ended up becoming, and storms off.

The dumb wrap-up to the dumb act they were, retconned out of existence. That being said, they aren't breaking up anytime soon.
