Austin says it's a more "scientific" style of wrestling. In that sense, he's shit at it, because he doesn't wrestle in a logical fashion whatsoever. He puts in a hold that looks like fucking death, then transitions to something else for a cheap pop.
He needs to slow down, learn the pacing aspect of technical styles, and make each move more meaningful. Then he'll live up to every bit of hype.

I think you don't get ZSJ's style, it's just different from the WWE version of technical wrestling. It's a hybrid version of the very old WoS style, the transitions and the reversals/escapes are the entire point. What Zack has shown is that you can wrestle that style in 2016 and it still works, as long as the guy you are with can sell.

I liked most of the IWC darlings that came along. The japs like Itami, the ones from the American indies like Bryan, and a lot of the other ones. This guy ZSJ, I can't get the same feeling with him.

I think a lot of this is down to the fact that seeing someone on TV and seeing them live isn't the same thing
I've stood next to ZSJ and you can see the guy's in shape when he's in normal clothes, his arms are definitely more muscular than an average dude's. Then you see him on TV and he doesn't look very impressive, it's weird

Also on the subject of his wrestling I agree that his transitions etc. need to slow down and when he locks in some Deathlock From Hell it would be nice if he actually held it. I saw him vs Shibata live and twice in that match he transitioned from a hold that had like every limb hooked into a pin. It popped the crowd, sure, but it didn't make sense from a psychology standpoint
Also his selling is honestly pretty bad and he has never let someone else's targeted offense stop him from doing whatever submission he wants
