It's 2001. Eric Bischoff, backed by Fusient Media Ventures, has bought WCW. How does he make it compete with WWF/E?
>>
>tfw no1 cares about WCW

Don't think he could. His best hope would be survival. The brand was beaten to death and beyond by a couple years of putting out consistently horrid product and keeping everyone the fans wanted to see down while constantly pushing the same old stale shit on top, all while WWF was actually churning out things people wanted to see.

In order to survive, Bischoff would've had to use his brain and cut down on the spending by a metric fuckload. WCW was a notorious money pit because they thought they'd always have endless dosh. Get people that actually know the wrestling business and aren't proven liabilities to run the goddamn thing. Avoid anyone that'll eventually have a hand in creating TNA in our timeline, though I guess Jarrett can stay as the midcarder he is.

Kill any superfluous big money contracts for people that don't draw or even wrestle. Don't let Hogan and pals anywhere near the company at all either. Start slow and steady, don't try to force out another nWo tier success from the gate. Just be a solid alternative people want to watch, WWF/E's competition has generally done well just by emphasizing the actual in-ring action and having less mandrama storyline focus. Possibly apologize to the fans, recognize you wasted one of the greatest opportunities anyone ever had to compete with Vince McMahon and try extra hard to build confidence back in the brand.

You say get rid of all the backstage politians such as Hogan, Nash etc. but who could WCW replaced them with?
>>
>>1412867
politicians*

Build new stars.

>>1412867
They would probably have given the likes of O'Haire, Storm, Helms and the like a more prominent run, Booker obviously as the main man.

They would probably have taken a few of the ECW refugees such as Rob van Dam and made them prominent too.

Literally anyone capable of taking a bump would have been a better option than those cancerous tumors by 2001.

They could also try to lure Cruiserweight types back from the WWE. Guys who didn't really catch on because Vince is a fucking dipshit, like DDP, Lance Storm, and Shane Helms
>>
WCW's potential roster in 2001-02:

Jamie Knoble
Jeff Jarrett
Jerry Lawler (commentary)

Sting
Super Crazy
Tommy Dreamer

Would you watch this show?
>>
>>1412910
Yes.
>>
>>1412923
Apparently Bischoff was going to get Jerry Lawler and Joey Styles as his commentary team. That would've been pretty GOAT desu
>>
>>1412925
Jerry had just been released by WWF, so would have been a logical move. Styles as the main man calling the action with Jerry as the annoying shitheel on colour comms would have been entertaining.
>>
>>1412934
Certainly better than Tony "Charisma" Schiavone and Scott Hudson
>>
>>1412910
World Title: Booker T/DDP/Goldberg/Flair/Steiner/Sting

US Title: Kanyon/Jarrett/Konnan/Storm/RVD/O'Haire

Cruiserweight Title: AJ Styles/Kidman/Chavo/Daniels/Rey Mysterio

That would be hype.

Bring back Hogan, brother
>>
>>1412910
Could this compete with WWE in the long-term?
>>
>>1412962
They would have been fine until John Cena and Brock Lesnar hit the scene, and then, if by some miracle they continued to survive into the modern era, The Shield would have clinched it in WWE's favor.
>>
>>1412986
Would it have basically turned into a better version of TNA?
>>
>>1412867
Booker and Steiner were trying to get over and kinda succeeding despite the terrible booking. Rebuild Goldberg, treat him right, he could carry a company. Try to restart some talent exchanges, those were golden until WCW got uppity and both sent nobodies in for stars and tried to cut deals with other companies behind their partners' backs. Uh, I'm sure I'm forgetting someone that could've done well. DDP had a few years. Sting never even went to WWF. Flair was still Flair. Those guys could've been top stars for at least 5 years and by that point a decently-run company would've built new stars.
>>
>>1412999
If we're talking a wholly ideal course of events after it goes under then Bischoff buys it, pretty much. It would be a strong alternative, probably absorb big indy stars faster and use them better, but WWE would still be the major player in the world.
>>
What/who caused the downfall of WCW? Can someone redpill me on it
>>
>>1413233
There's a whole book written about it.
>>
>>1412910
Better than WWE now by 6 gorillion percent
>>
>>1413233
Kevin Nash
Hulk Hogan

But mainly Nash
>>
>>1412910
Dont forget Yang, Jason Jett who it looked like they were building at the time, Road Dogg who wouldve likely signed after being fired, and potentially Eddie Guerrero after his brief release in 02.
