Well, it is kind of an issue in which sitting on the fence is the only reasonable conclusion.
Saying there is a God leaves you playing with no evidence. Saying there isn't one leaves you claiming an absolute truth that you can never absolutely validate, and doing so whilst ignoring the fact that we're specs of dust with little understanding of how we came to be.

Atheism itself is just the disbelief and doubt of theism. There's different versions of atheism which are more specific and less broad and unfortunately are just labled atheism. Causing the problem now where plenty of people don't want to be called atheist.
