Anyone know where to download lots of skate movies? I have lots but I also am missing some essentials like Flip Extremely Sorry, can't find some of the with good quality anywhere.

Fucking great. Tampa is pretty fucking lucky in that department. Its the heat that fucking sucks. Lots of the parks have no scooter signs but I might see a BMX or fruitboot once in a while.

Why is Orlando such a piece of shit
>>
>>1334943
It sucks here, I live in the capital city of my state and there are literally zero skateparks other than the ones 20 minutes outside town. Everybody got excited about this big one they wanted to build downtown but the city refuses to pay for it, says all of us have to fundraise. They came up with that idea like 4 years ago and no one's heard anything since. Probably won't be built til 2020-something.

We also used to have 3 skate shops, now all we got is one. Total bullshit.
>>
Hope you guys are having a nice Memorial Day weekend, go out and learn a new trick.

2bh fuck that shit. Loose and cropped is pure function

Skateboarding is about fashion not function
>>

Honestly it's all about jeans that actually fit you

Skinny enough to form to you and down to your ankles. You can't go wrong with that, will never go out of style
>>
>>1335368
Fuck you, I sprained my ankle.
>>1335343
Cause Orlando is for the tourists. Don't worry soon Tampa will claim all of Central Florida.

But yeah Tampa is great. Three great skateparks, Skatepark of Tampa, Bro Bowl 2.0, and New Tampa Skatepark are all great. And within an hour is Bradenton skatepark, Brandon Skatepark, Lakeland skatepark(you should really take the trip there since it's in between our cities, great skatepark) and the Bradenton Go Kart DIY(Really fucking cool place).

God bless Team Pain and SPoT.
>>
>>1335605
I always wore baggy champion sweats so I'm happy. And since I'm skinny Dickies are also baggy enough for me.

32KB, 874x480px
yo guys im getting to be alright at skating, like starting to get all my 180s down and my heelflip, kickflip and and tre flips down. BUT the ollie is just something i keep fucking up im goofy and well my foot motion, indicated by the line on the pic, keeps curving frontside at the end of the motion making my ollies turn frontside each time and throwing me off the board. anyway i can get rid of this? it happens just at the end of the motion, at the nose, and i try to practice stationary and i still cant beat the slight curve at the nose. seriously i'd be down to do any exercise or practice method at all to finally be able to ollie normally.
>>
>>1335940

Greetings from across the pond, eurofag! Check-- I'd give the Formula 4s a try. They are quite difficult to flat spot and take a heal of a beating. I haven't ridden anything else since my first purchase. Pig wheels are fine, though. Still, if you have the extra euro, go for both, but (assuming) since the weather is decent out there, why not spoil yourself and ride something great? But honestly, you can't go wrong with either option. I'd go with the formula 4s; younger/broker me would have gone 2 sets of pig. Hope this helps.
>>
>>1337578
I'm pretty poor right now, might have to go with the pigs even though i want to try F4's. And yeah the weather is great and i'm planning to skate every day during summer, so i'm expecting wheels to wear down quite fast.

>>1337934
Miles Silvas, along with Zion Wright and Lil Dre, was one of the reasons Organika was getting so much attention from younger skaters that don't know who Karl Watson is or don't care much for Walker Ryan and Josh Matthews. Then a few months after Eli Reed left, Miles left, taking Walker, Zion and Lil Dre with him, along with all the recent attention. Now Organika is left without an Am team and three of their pros are gone.
I doubt Karl can just roll on with him, Josh Matthews and Quim Cardona
>>
>>1337905

Does anyone know what the quality of Palace decks is like? My friend says they snap easily but i'm not sure
>>
>>1337922

I'm kinda disappointed with it in terms of aesthetic. The colors were too flat and they could've done with better b-rolls but whatever, the skating was great and so was the soundtrack. For something that took 3 years, it's a bit eh but still good. The reveal in the middle was also shocking.
>>

i didn't know what to expect, so i can't say i was disappointed. as for the aesthetics, as someone else pointed out in a previous thread, adidas has a diverse team. i think maybe the flatness gives every part a "sameness". also, like black anon said, the gonz sort of glues everything together

I get them for 29.99 at my shop, F4s are usually around 35 they seem to be more popular so maybe that's why
>>
>>1337876

They use the Watson laminates woodshop. They're not that great to be honest. Not bad but not good. That being said I've had my fair share of toy and foundation decks, but not because of the quality
>>
>>1337954

Good taste. Es era bobby was a god. Had his color way of the "firstbloods" too, great shoe. He's still amazing but that was his apex I think

>my friend told me that x decks snap easily
Just because your friends deck snapped after 1 week doesn't make the companys decks bad. Super small sample size, and i bet that every company has had the same thing happen like 100 times. My friends always boycott a company for 1 broken deck, like really fuck off haha.
>>
Is it normal for your pushing knee to get swolen and sore just from pushing in your first couple days? It isn't too noticeable unless I try to ollie, then it hurts a lot.

On one hand, I have never felt so free in my life. The wind in my hair and having nowhere to go. Just exploring my small city one block at a time on my board. But I feel like people are judging me. Especially being not a kid anymore and on a skateboard.
>>
>>1338805
I feel the same way at 23. Oh well, my skatepark is usually empty.

Also, skating drunk sounds terrifying.
>>
>>1338805
what do people possibly fucking yell at you while you're skating
i'm 24 and nobody has ever looked at me funny or said anything to me or anything like that
i follow most of the trends too so i probably look like a retard to people that don't know about skating or skate culture
>>
>>1338820

I don't get too drunk, just buzzed or a little tipsy. It makes you want to skate really fast and aggressively. Weird thing being at my age is that all my old tricks came back to me in like a week of skating, really easily too. I'm taller and thinner than I was as a kid. Haven't tried any gaps or staircases yet though.
>>
>>1338822

People yell stupid shit constantly, maybe because i'm in a smallish town in Florida with a bunch of retarded ass hicks. People honk their horns, say dumb shit like "oh look a skater" or "do a kickflip!",

Anyone else feel like skateboarding is dead? When I was young in my town on any given day you would see groups of 10 - 20 skaters out. I never see that anymore, and now that I got back into it I don't see any other skaters. I'll run into the casual longboarding faggot or some queer on one of those little penny boards but not a legit skateboarder. What happened?

In my opinion, it's stale.
There are a few spots in the downtown area that are worth looking at but the Police are full force this summer.
But recently some dudes from MIA built a DIY spot under the I-95 bridge, which is great if you like tech skating.

The community in my city is abnormally large for a medium sized UK city. Loads of parks, a GIY spot, a couple of spots in the middle of town that constantly have skaters in. Apparently, according to my mates, the scene used to be way better for street, but the city has done an overhaul of some of the old, famous spots from the 90s. It's a shame, but they have invested a lot in parks so...

alright about 5 days into learning to skate my walmart board that I bought 7 years ago snapped in half

probably going to go to a local skateshop to buy a board, however all of the ones near me have shit sites with no catalog. im super picky about designs because imo most of the are obnoxious as fuck, I just want something minimal

in the case that I can't find a deck that I want at a shop, what brands should I mainly avoid if I buy online? I don't wanna get fucked again
>>
>>1338822
>what do people possibly fucking yell at you while you're skating

not that guy, but here in chicago i get yelled at regularly by motorists and cyclists. the most common one is "get off the fucking road" or "skaters belong on the sidewalk" or something. even though i obey the traffic rules religiously, even though i always stay more than a car length away from anything moving, even though i always assume they can't see me and let them pass, they act like i'm in their way. it's so stupid.
>>
>>1338876
>i hate the "do a kickflip" so much, like im some circus monkey doing tricks for you rofl.

it annoys me too, especially when it's a group of jocks or drunk college kids. sometimes i pretend i'm about to do a kickflip but at the very last second, i flip them a middle finger instead, smile, and say "go fuck yourself". all in good fun, of course. just busting their balls.

the thing is, i also love yelling it when i see other skaters. can't help it.
>>
>>1339886
Go on skatewarehouse.com and browse the deck brands so you have an idea of what you like.
>>
>>1339886

You can go in an just look, lots of people do that, you can also ask them to take the board down from the wall and stand on it to see how it feels to you. If they have carpet down somewhere put the deck on the carpet not the hard ground so you don't scrape it.

Most shops have shop decks that are just a logo or plain color and are of decent quality if you want something minimal, theyre usually cheaper too

>they don't really skate street unless they're specifically going somewhere to film something.

Definitely depends on the size of the town. You go to a large city with urban areas and you will see people on the streets. Once you start to go to smaller cities or college towns it becomes less seen, which is probably due to excess in silly laws and bored people looking to enforce them. Gotta remember there was a time when some schools outright banned skate clothing.

i don't understand how people heelflip this way. it takes so much effort to get the foot off as is
>>
>>1346005

Lets see. Let's quote MJ from his infamous Jenkem interview.

"Now that Big Companies have bought their way into skateboarding and purchased street cred that they couldn’t have possibly built on their own THROUGH ACTUAL SKATEBOARDING, the ‘Core Companies have had to get up off their asses and get their shit together. Big Company is actually good at business. Big company is on top of their shit. They handle their business efficiently and thoroughly, and is willing to pay skateboarders closer to what they’re actually worth instead of short-changing them and low-balling them “Because skaters are stupid and will take anything we give them”. Big Companies have scared the ‘Core companies to death and the core companies now have to actually run their businesses properly, make an effort, and treat their riders well instead of relying on the good ol’, “We’re KILLING IT in skateboarding. We don’t really have to be good to these guys. We don’t have to know how to take care of them. Hell, we don’t even need to take care of them. Fuck em, where else are they gonna go?” Well NOW, skateboarders can go to the Big Footwear companies. And the Core Footwear companies are scared."

From Mike's story MJ sounds pretty dick for announcing the transition too soon. However, MJ held on until the end, despite the fact he could have switched to adidas with equal pay and likely better benefits a long time ago. He stayed on longer than Koston and he watched a lot of other people bail from the sinking crailtap ship.

As sad as it is Crailtap is falling apart at the seams. The Yeah Right days will always be an amazing time in skateboarding's history but it is a time that has passed. Just as Blackbox's time has passed. The 90/2000s era of skateboarding had to come to end sometime. If you want to be pissed that the 90s are dead be pissed at P-Rod, BA, Todd Batrud and the rest of the first guys to abandon core companies. MJ held out longer than most did or would.

After the ollie and how frustrating it was to get that done, I stopped looking at trick tips and started figuring tricks out on my own. It took me a year to kickflip but I had other tricks at the time.
Also to the anons skating alone, self motivation is a thing. Watch a couple of your favorite skaters do the trick you want to learn that day and try it. Like I learned Nollie back 180s because of Al Davis and Kevin Romar, you can do this, homie.
>>

Best advice so far: keep it loose, don't stress it, just go for it.

If you let muscle memory do it's thing you will pretty much always land the trick, if you start thinking about the foot movement etc. you probably mess up. I find if i focus on thinking about the landing or riding away, i can let muscle memory do all the work.

You are not adding shipping + taxes, which would probably be around 40$.
>>
how do I do slappys? I'm trying to learn them on this yellow painted curb at my local taco bell

I go towards the block at like a 45 degree angle, then when the front truck makes contact I think I'm supposted to like "push" (maybe like a slide?" so the back truck is on but i either pussy out or like the side of the deck scrapes
>>
>>1347399
you're not moving your shoulders to be parallel with the curb so you're just going over it. you also probably aren't going fast enough. if you go fast enough you won't have a chance to pussy out because you'll either be doing it correctly or eating shit.
>>
>>1347399
Hope you're doing them on squared and not round curbs, makes them easier to lock in.
>>
hows your guys weekend looking?

Not too bad in Spurdoland.
>>
>>1347399

come at it straight on at first. you kind of have to powerslide into it at exactly the right moment so that there is less weight on your back foot and the momentum of the powerslide motion skips the back truck up into the curb. doing them backside is easier to learn than frontside
>>
>>1345286
Agreed.
>>
>>1346542
ooooh. Not a bad one. I use my finger coated with a little water. yours is similar.
>>
>>1347575
where do you live?
I'm in the same boat where its crazy hot outside I can't skate for more than an hour because I just die. I have to wait until it gets close to dark.

Also respect to ya for skating longer than most of the people in this general have been alive
>>
>>1348108
It's his birthday today, bless Krooked Instagram
>>
just got some shoe goo. how do i use this shit and how much longer will my shoes last with it?
>>
>>1348210
Are you retarded? How would you not know? Here let me spoonfeed it to you. Put Shoe Goo on the high abrasion areas of the shoe and spread it with something, multiple thin layers encouraged but not needed always. Some people put it on before any holes happen in the shoe and some do it when a hole is already in the shoe but hasn't gone through the second layer if it has one.

And it made my shoes last about 4 months with heavy skating. But I also reapplied it a lot. If I hadn't reapplied it still lasted a month longer than it usually does.
>>
>>1346542
i've used ice. it melts all over the place. in my opinion a popsicle stick works better
>>
How do some people skate all day and have dry hair?
Mine is all wet after like 10 mins
Are they all just super dehydrated?
>>
>>1348304
Some people sweat more better in defferent areas of body

>>
>>1348635
currently leaning towards 149's, how big is the weight difference, anyone compared them?
>>
>>1348635
Do you plan on riding bigger decks in the future? Then 149 would be ideal.
I currently ride 8.28 on 139 Indy's.
>>
>>1348664
139 weighs 376 grams and 149 394 grams.

Hey guys. Absolute noob here. Don't know anything about skating and the most I've done on a skateboard is stand on it.
Do I just buy a decent complete board and a good pair of shoes and then just practice errday until I get good?
