Why don't people give the Rock shit for selling out? He may be a legend, but what he did was far worse than Batista. At least Batista wrestled more than once a year when he came back, Rocky just doesn't give a shit about the wrestling crowd now that he has mainstream appeal.
>>
I fucking hate Rock on any wrestling show now and wish he would go away from it for good. His movies are decent.
>>
>Why don't people give the Rock shit for selling out?

Cause he worked out peoples anger with Hollywood Rock in 2003
>>
>>1286426
I don't like the Rock and tune out whenever he appears
>>
I was never bothered by him going to Hollywood because I'm not an entitled manchild. He didn't owe anyone anything.
>>
I hate the phrase "selling out"

it's totally meaningless, and smacks of jealously every time.

What was The Rock making in wrestling? Whatever it was you can be damn well sure that he makes several times that figure for one single movie that might take 3 or 4 months to film. Like anyone else would turn that down.

"Oh yeah, i know, let me go back to the much more dangerous job that pays less and requires way more work!"

Of course The Rock doesn't fucking care about Wrestling anymore.
>>
>>1286452
No one has implied he ows anyone anything. That's the dumbest fucking shit anyone can say.

I hate the phrase because it's just used for anyone who decides to want to make money, not for the ACTUAL reason.

Selling out means that you're going against your own morals for finanical or selfish gains. If early in his career Rock said he'd always wrestle and never do anything else including films then yes, he would be a "sell-out".
>>
>>1286464
Well, in the WM19 Documentary, he does say "its not about the money, its a passion" when referring to wrestling, then he proceeds to leave the company for "not money"
>>
>>1286426
>Why don't people give the Rock shit for selling out?
Because he DID get shit years ago when he left to film more movies after his Mummy role. It's one reason why he got booed vs. Lesnar at their SS match, because everyone knew he was leaving.

Then when he returned, he got shit for it but turned it around by becoming a cocky heel. The fans were chanting "you sold out" to him but he just BTFO them by replying "Yes, I did sell out. I sold this arena and every arena across the World, that's what I sold out.".

I think the fans forgave him or forgot about it as he was so damn entertaining as a heel again, this time finally beating Stone Cold at WM and then the feud with the debuting Goldberg had some great moments from The Rock.
>>
As people have explained The rock got his shit and people basically got over it.

Also batista didn't get shit for selling out or whatever, his reception on his return was pretty good. It was when fans realised he was being pushed over Bryan they turned. It was less an attack on Batista and more support for Bryan.
>>
>>1287543
>people aren't allowed to change their minds, especially not when they were saying something they felt at that time
>>
>>1287966
It was like a month before he left the company
>>
Rock was planning a match for WM21 then found out his contract ran out and didn't even get called about it. So he just said "I'll show them" and got so big they've been sucking his dick for 5 years. Read up on this, fuck even in 2006 there was rumors of him wanting a match with Bret. They thought Rock would fail and come back running back crying to them, look what happened.
>>
>>1286432

His movies are shit, but that's fine, I'm not paying to see them.

He needs to fuck off from wrestling and stay fucked off if he's not going to put a LITTLE bit of effort into his returns like Jericho does.
>>
>>1287987
He gets the biggest pop whenever he shows up and no matter what he does. Even RR2015, the crowd go from cheering whatever Rock does to booing whatever Reigns did, and repeat. Why would he need to put in any more effort when he's the most over thing on any show he's on by default? Fucking Stone Cold showed up in Dallas on a RAW and it wasn't half as loud as when Rock showed up in Brooklyn
>>
>>1287882

It would be great if he'd actually come back for honest runs like that again. Instead of showing up once to take the belt off a crowd favorite, all but disappearing for two months, and reappearing to drop the belt to a turd.

If he wants to do that shit again, he can go fuck himself.
>>
>>1287992
we must have been watching different feuds cause I remember when Rock beat Punk for the belt 80% of the arena was jumping up and down and celebrating.
>>
>>1287992
How's the UFC 200 training going, Phil?
>>
>>1287991

Stone Cold was advertised for that RAW, so there wasn't the Holy Shit Quotient that Rock coming out of nowhere to pop the crowd during MNF's halftime did.

Rock is not good for business anymore, unless he actually wants to stick around for a few months (which would be financially and probably physically dumb for him to do admittedly). The very few people you gain by advertising "SEE THE ROCK CUT THE SAME PROMO HE'S BEEN CUTTING SINCE 1998!" pales in comparison to the people who stop giving a shit because the rest of the product has gone to shit because Vince keeps trying to relive past successes through old stars that can barely wrestle anymore instead of actually making any new stars.
>>
>>1287998
Considering the crowd was clearly split between them, you must've been.
>>
>>1288002
>Rock is not good for business anymore

Check the buyrates of Manias before and after he came back. Also Rumble 2013 had the highest buys of a Rumble since 2008. You're in the minority like it or not
>>
>>1288003
>when Rock beat Punk for the belt

would 80% of the arena be jumping up and down cheering if the crowd favorite lost? The only places Punk was more over than Rock in that feud was the internet and possibly Chicago. Literally nobody cared that WM29 wasn't a triple threat and was a Rock/Cena rematch. Make the main event Punk/Cena and that show is a failure
>>
The majority of The Rock's acting career has been an embarrassment. He had hardly an successful film.s to his name until he leached onto the Fast & Furious franchise. San Francisco made money off of the Day After Tomorrow/2012 crowd, not off of Rock fans. His film franchise died with Paul Walker, he's got nothing. He's a villain in Shazam in 5 years if the DCU doesn't shut down before then. That's the best future prospect he has. Baywatch sure as shit isn't expected to be a blockbuster.

Both WWE and its fans need to stop rolling out the red carpet every time this D-Lister looks their way. It is up there as one of the most embarrassing things about wrestling.

Wrestling community be like "The Rock? What an superstar! Everybody and their mother knows who he is! WWE is relevant!"

Normal.people be like, "That movie looks okay, but how good can it be with The Rock in it? Remember The Scorpion King? Lol so bad! Is he really still acting? And now the guy who played the Tooth Fairy just murdered a bunch of hillbillies at Wrestlemania? What a bunch of fruits."
>>
>>1288015
>He hasn't seen Pain and Gain
>>
>>1288015
>G.I Joe
>Hercules
>Journey 2

all box office hits and the movie with Kevin Hart is gonna do a fuckton of money too. Hercules is the best example of Rock drawing, there was some other Hercules movie that came out like a month before that was a flop and nobody gave a shit about. On an unrelated note, during this time Stone Cold was doing straight to DVD movies with Steven Seagal
>>
>>1288015
You're joking right? Normies and dude bros know him from F&F, San Andreas and other Action shit, they've probably never heard of Tooth Fairy
>>
>>1288022

How can I reply if I can't stop laughing?
>>
>>1288015
I get that you're mad and shit but the guy is literally the highest grossing box office success consecutively.
Your claims are ridiculous and all his movies are moderately successful which means he makes bank for whoever the heck hires him.
The rock is literally cash money.
Sorry.
>>
>>1287543
he left the company cause haitch was in vinces ear telling him that Rock would fail just like all the others and would come back just like all the others
>>
>>1288028

What the hell are you talking about?

The Rock is known for

>His shitty CGI debut in Scorpion King.

>His cringeworthy early career with gems like Rundown and Walking Tall. "I saw you smoking reefer by the bleachers"

>Disappearing off the face of the Earth in shit like Tooth Fairy and Witch Mountain

>Whatever the fuck Southland Tales is

>Leaching onto F&F like a parasite to stay relevant

>San Andreas doing surprisingly well
>>
>>1288034
ignored GI Joe/Hercules/Journey 2 again lmao

It's ok guys Punk and Rock are friends, you don't have to fight so hard for him
>>
>>1288034
>Leaching onto F&F like a parasite to stay relevant
You say that like it isn't a billion dollar franchise
>>
>>1288036

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/people/chart/?view=Actor&id=rock.htm

All of those movies made less than Get Smart.

Why do you keep bringing up Journey 2 like it isn't the same cringey kiddy shit as Tooth Fairy?
>>
>>1288040
He was the lead in those movies and they were box office hits. Put a B/C/D-list actor in any of those movies and they draw significantly less. There were two Hercules movies that came out in 2014. Guess which one flopped and which one was a success? Dude is called franchise viagra for a reason, Baywatch & the Kevin Hart movie will also be hits
>>
>>1288010
Shut up >marky.
>>
>>1288034

The Rundown was a decent action film. I'll admit that Christopher Walken steals the show though.
>>
>>1288046
Baywatch will not make money.

Most Kevin Hart movies do subpar business or outright flop. He just makes a lot really fast.

Hercules was a flop. Not as much as the other 2014 Hercules was, but slightly moreso than the 2012 Hercules with Sam Worthington (another failed career so far).

The Rock's Hercules made less than the budget to your average Adam Sandler comedy.

Making under 200 million is not a blockbuster in today's industry. Most non F&F Rock movies have made less than 140 Million domestic.

GI Joe and Journey 2 would be embarrassing moments on a real actor's resume. Both professionally and artistically, those movies are balls of nothing.

The Rock is a C-lister at best. At best.
>>
>>1288080
Good point about Kevin Hart, which is why Rock being in the movie with him will cause it to be his highest grossing movie by far.

We'll see in a month
>>
>>1288080
he made back 244 million with hercules, which is two times the budget, how is that a flop?
sure the rock is not a big name insta blockbuster maker but he's not c-list either
>>
>>1286426
Rock has a successful movie career, and basically walked away from wrestling with his body and mind still intact. Not mad at him one bit for doing so. Hell he is one of the lucky ones from the Attitude era. Foley is fucked and not even 50 yet. Taker looks a decade older than he really is. Austin's knees and neck are fucked.etc

He did the right thing.
>>
>>1286454
Rock makes more a movie than Cena makes all year. Plus he isn't traveling 300 days a year, or destroying his bidy. The guy made the right discussion.
>>
if he didn't give 2 shits he'd never come back

he does.
>>
>>1288080
>meanwhile based Dave is in decent movies and soon he'll be raking in dat capeshit shekels
>>
>>1288086

I hope we see more more of Rock in supporting comedy roles like the Other Guys. I don't think he has it yet to carry a whole movie but in The Other Guys he managed to be a scene stealer. With Sam Jackson in the scene.
>>
>>1288141

I mean, I know I've had a negative tone towards the Rock. I wish the man no I'll will. I hope he continues to do well.

I just hope you realize the difference in exposure the Rock has compared to any one of the Avengers or a Seth Rogen type. Or arguably The Arrow. Or most musicians. Snoop Dogg was the biggest celebrity at Wrestlemania.
