I'll admit that Austin got pushed too hard in terms of ring clearing potential, but he gets away with it because unlike Roman, he was a hell of a promo, he could structure a match even after his neck injury (before he was GOAT tier, HBK KOTR 1997 is a hidden gem) and most importantly, he was the most over wrestler since Hulk Hogan.
Even after his neck injury he would occasionally try and actually wrestle. His work with Benoit was nice to see,

His neck injury against Owen Hart really took away a lot of his in ring ability. But I do agree, during his title runs, he was pretty meh in the ring. Mostly pushes, kicks, stomps and the stunner.
