They're just like "teacup pets." People don't care that their dog has health problems, they don't care that way they get their Pomeranian's hair trimmed is bad for them. Any dog that has a double coat (thick undercoat with a rough top coat) and gets it trimmed or cut, the undercoat doesn't grow back properly. It's very important to have that coat there to help control their body temperature. It's like a natural cooling or heating system.

Your two look pretty healthy as far as pugs go. Looks like they have more of a muzzle, and rounder, wider nostrils.

That said, even if you take good care of them, a lot of pugs are inherently unhealthy do to the way they're bred. Poor structure, respiratory problems from the squashed skull and nostrils, dental problems from trying to fit all 42 teeth into a much shorter space, etc. If people would select for a healthier phenotype when breeding pugs, and make sure to exercise them so they don't get obese, that would solve a lot of the health problems in the breed for sure.

Dogs shed fur that's been cut short just as easily as they shed long uncut fur. Unless your dog is going permanently bald then they will replace their original coat of fur quite easily.

Didn't see this post, but I'd have included it. I own two shih tzu pomeranian mixes, one more shih tzu and the other more pom. I actually really like shih tzus because they're very intelligent, or our "pomshits" have been at least. The actual breed's face is way too scrunched imo, but breeding with a dog whose face isn't smashed into the skull has its benefits.
