chordates are undeniably the best animals. sure there are a few neat bugs or whatever but none are better than most vertebrate life.

Come on guys, root for the home team.
>>2473612
because they aren't, they lack the jaw which is essential to fish
>>2473612
Hagfish and lampreys are separate from fish.
>>2473616
holy shit, you're actually right! why have I never heard this before?
Arthropoda is fucking boss
>>2473620
lampreys are really fascinating because they are very similar to the first vertebrates

lampreys are fish.
"fish" is a paraphyletic group anyway. jawless fish (like lampreys and hagfish), cartilaginous fish (sharks), ray-finned fish, lobe-finned fish and a few more are all their own separate groups but they are all still grouped as "fish".
now, lancelets, those things are not fish.
>>2474181
well, "fish" is the problem here, some count cyclostomata as fish and some don't but i personally would say they aren't fish but there is no way to actually proof that
