saw these two out side. google thinks its a american black duck. but why does one have a blue bill? i cant find any images online of a duck with a blue bill.
It's a mallard, you can tell because it has that blue spot on the wing. Assuming this is in the US of course, I don't know what, if any, Euro equivalents there are. I saw a mallard with a blue bill last year. Still don't know why. Some genetic oddity I guess. I don't think it's a hybrid but I don't know about duck crossbreeds at all.

Thanks. Yea New England (best England)
I just looked up American Black Duck, honestly didn't even realize they were a thing. I am surprised how close they are to mallards. I still think yours is a mallard OP because it has the white on either side of the blue patch. ABD's wing doesn't appear to have white on it. Could be a hybrid between the two I suppose, this site says they can mix. Anyway, neat.

also it looks close to what i found in the duck thread ( should of posted there). could it be a mix of this?

They are mallard x wigeon or mallard x pintail or mallard x New Zealand grey or mallard x South Pacific gray or ...well you get the idea. They literally fuck anything and I mean anything. Sometimes the cross only shows up in the bill instead of the feathers.

What a wonderful shade of blue

The face looks very different from a normal mallard. They're probably a mix, but like >>2471307 said, with what who knows.

Those live in like Australia, so it would be weird for one to have ended up in New England. It could have been someone's imported pet that got away or a zoo escapee.
Post your duck pictures on a local bird forum or eBird so people who are interested can go see them too. Maybe they would be able to ID them better for you.
