well to be fair he does give the correct species name (P. dominula) and mentions the discrepancies with the name "yellowjackets". Although most people in the know have ALWAYS considered Vespula vulgaris (or related) the true yellowjackets that can have massive colonies. Polistes and Vespula have quite different personalities as well.

It is a little misleading, because they started looking for them on the lawn (where the real V. vulgaris/germanica is commonly seen chasing spiders), but ended up getting the paper wasps. Which, I might add, is a species that is nearly harmless, having been around it constantly and playing with them.

I think the stinging he received backs up my experience that P. dominula plays very fair, and will sting only reluctantly, and fire warning shots initially (very mild first sting, probably dry; it had to be provoked a third time before it emptied significant amount of venom).
